Fluff I met my husband on WoW, had a druid-themed wedding and the guild all turned up!

Post image

We met in guild five years ago, met three years ago, and tied the knot three weeks ago! I walked down the aisle to the Teldrassil soundtrack and we got married by a lake in the woods. My GM, raid leader, and host of fellow guildies all showed up and met each other for the first time! If you find yourself running M+ and think he might be the one -- take it outside of Azeroth, trust me :)

Married my fellow guild officer and main tank 13 years ago. We spent many years during BC and WotLK secretly crushing on each other and playing together every day. He got the courage to tell me one day, and the rest is a beautiful love story.

I love seeing others with the same type of story! Congratulations and I wish you many years of love and happiness.

Our wedding cake with our custom characters

77

u/queen_guenhwyvar Sep 07 '26

OMG I love this!!

85

u/blurr90 Sep 08 '26

You're lucky you're alliance. Imagine an Undead and a Tauren on that cake

17

u/EddoAlternative Sep 08 '26

Can't image which is more irritating: male tauten + female undead or vice versa?

7

u/blurr90 Sep 08 '26

I had the same thought after I wrote that :D

2

u/Maleficent-Ad-9532 Sep 15 '26

Undead and tauren = my husband and me 🥲

28

u/Vimento Sep 08 '26

That is fucking sick well done :D

7

u/Moepenmoes Sep 08 '26

Alright I'm jealous as hell lmao, I'm so happy for you though!!!

4

u/BrainySpud Sep 09 '26

You were the warrior and he was a priest right? ;)

4

u/dargeus95 Sep 08 '26

Ditto, except 17 years ago.

3

u/odbose Sep 10 '26

Dang that's a lot of effort just to skip waiting for a tank.

Kidding, happy for you :)

u/sneakysoap Sep 07 '26

Congrats!!! I married my healer six years ago! Ours was horde themed, we met in Wrath, he moved over within two years and we have been together for 16. Definitely take it outside Azeroth! It might lead to the greatest adventure ever. <3

u/IHateTheLetterF Sep 08 '26

You know the healer situation is bad when you have to marry one just to lock them down.

51

u/Adventurous-Rent6662 Sep 08 '26

Every other guild but mine. I live for healing but my raid team has fantastic healers in abundance.

My wife and I met during wrath of the lich king in 2010. She was my guild leader, we were friends for 10 years. Been married for 6 years in December.

121

u/Perodis Sep 07 '26

>She was my guild leader

Did you have to take that through HR? Fraternization with the GM is day one of work guild place do’s and do nots

46

u/BeHereNow91 Sep 07 '26

No joke, the guilds I’ve been in where the GM has something with a member (weirdly like 3 or 4 guilds) are just awkward as hell, but it’s usually because it’s an open secret and not disclosed to HR.

12

u/caulpnrydc Sep 07 '26

Wasn’t an issue since we were both in our own separate relationships. When we came back for classic tbc/wrath and joined guilds we explained we were together, and same when we created our guild, we explained that to people but we were both leading so

20

u/BeHereNow91 Sep 07 '26

Yeah a guild openly run by a couple is a much different environment than the ones I was in. No gossip or weird power dynamics at play there.

105

u/cleffawna Sep 07 '26

I met my boyfriend after resubbing wow. We met in person after a year of being in the same guild. I eventually got him to move to my state and we've been living together 10 years. Neither of us play wow anymore tho, maybe when I'm retired

15

u/Coolkidhiyo Sep 07 '26

Shouldn't wait until, better to play a bit and enjoy when you're young. Make those memories now!

24

u/Troksi Sep 07 '26

Yea Make those real life memories.

35

u/Codus1 Sep 08 '26

The value of the memory is only held by those that experienced it. If people value their friendships and memories in-game with their guildies or friends, why would we imply they are somehow less valuable?

13

u/duffchaser Sep 07 '26

I get the sarcasm. but honestly killing lich king on 25m was core memory still talk to half my guild from then

2

u/sneakysoap Sep 07 '26

my hubby could have wrote this! <3, word for word except the only difference is it was August not December.

Met my husband on wow too! Been together since 2009 😍

46

u/Naive_Vermicelli Sep 07 '26

Same - Met in 2009 in game & then IRL. Married 2016. Many guildies at the wedding. We incorporated 'For The Alliance' in our vows lol

9

u/Ekhochambre Sep 08 '26

Same. Many night sat by the lake in Ashenvale just talking. This was 2004. Married since ‘09.

171

u/amhudson02 Sep 07 '26

Fucking adorable and congrats to the both of you.

44

u/Spideraxe30 Sep 07 '26

Did anyone show in a giant chicken or bear suit to be real druid wedding. Congrats!

168

u/dojacowmooo Sep 07 '26

OMG !!! Congratulations ☺️🫶

37

u/Rixhephtos Sep 07 '26

I met my husband on WoW as well, I just happened to join his guild one day. He lived in Latin America at the time, and eventually moved to the USA to be with me (and to have better internet! Haha). His best friend (our raid team's shadow priest) was the one who officiated the wedding. Been married 6 years now :)

28

u/RikoSaikaVA Sep 07 '26

May Elune bless you!

26

u/Geddyn Sep 07 '26

Congrats!

My wife and I met through our guild in 2023 and were married in 2024. Our guild couldn't attend, since the wedding was in New Zealand, but we used Zoom to give them the opportunity to watch the ceremony and then uploaded it to our guild's Youtube page for posterity.

3

u/WanderingSpud Sep 09 '26

My hubby and I were married in NZ in 2024 too! We met on WoW sometime back in MoP I think, but it wasnt until 2020 we finally met irl.

4

u/Geddyn Sep 09 '26

My wife and I met in person in March of 2024 and were married in October of 2024. We had been video chatting daily since the end of 2023.

We were married on the shore of Lake Taupo.

2

u/WanderingSpud Sep 09 '26

Oh wow you didn't mess around haha. We were a bit slower. After meeting in July 2020 between covid state lockdowns (Australia), he moved to my town in May 2021, proposed in Sep 2022, then it took us a good year to decide what we wanted to do for a wedding 😆. We got married by Moke lake outside of Queenstown May 2024, followed by helicopter up the mountain where it snowed. Was the most perfect day.

A Taupo wedding would have been amazing! We loved visiting there during our honeymoon. NZ is a magical place.

4

u/Geddyn Sep 09 '26

My wife is a Kiwi and I am an American, so we didn't waste any time due to the fact that our initial intention was for her to immigrate to the US and marriage was the fastest way to make that happen.

As it turned out, I ended up immigrating to New Zealand instead.

And, yeah, Taupo is incredible. We live about 45 minutes north of it and go there frequently.

22

u/modifiziert_ Sep 08 '26

I met my second husband during an ICC 10 pug. This is significant because I haaaaaated pugs and only ran one because I was super bored and had a night off from raiding. He and I were the healers. We met in person about a year and a half later, married 6 months after that, and were together for 10 years and had 3 kids.

Sadly it didn’t work out in the end, but I don’t regret it at all 🙂

Congrats to you both!!!

18

u/Shpongolese Sep 07 '26

I dont play WoW anymore but man is this adorable

u/Careful_Neck_1645 Sep 07 '26

14

u/kabilos Sep 08 '26

Congrats!, two of my guild members are getting married this coming weekend and I have a few of my officers and guild members flying into town and traveling with me (GM) to the wedding.

5

u/queen_guenhwyvar Sep 08 '26

6

u/kabilos Sep 08 '26

Wierd way to have an impromptu guild meeting in person, but I’ll take it!!

14

u/brainrotriot Sep 08 '26

I fuckin love nerds. This is the coolest thing ever. I wish you guys the best!

13

u/Sensitive-Eye4591 Sep 07 '26

Big congrats! Though I’m interested in what the cake looked like?

53

u/queen_guenhwyvar Sep 07 '26

I met my husband in WoW too, back in 2005. We got together in 2008 and have our 14th wedding anniversary next week. When people ask where we met for the first time I like to say 'Scarlet Monastery'.

22

u/ComprehensiveBid4520 Sep 07 '26

congratulations!! that is so awesome! my husband and I had a wow wedding as well, we used Thrall and Aggra's vows and had part of our honeymoon in Irvine. We've been married for 11 years. I wish you both much happiness.

8

u/MikeyNg Sep 08 '26

Congratulations!

Met my wife through WOW also. We'll be married for sixteen years come October.

7

u/MakaDakka Sep 08 '26

I met my now wife while playing WoW.

I still remember heading off to Dire Mail one day, and needing a couple extra people to run with. We had a couple quiet buildups farming in the area, so they came with. My dear Bela was one of them. We played together for quite a while before meeting in person and growing our relationship.

After we were married, the guild set up an in game marriage at the cathedral in Stormwind. We were a horde guild, though, so a couple warlocks corpse crawled into the cathedral’s crypt, and summoned two raid groups in. We cleared the dirty alliance, and had our ceremony. The hunters queued up as ushers at the front door, and kept the “peace.”

After the ceremony we took the tram to Ironforge, and got our first Magni kill. Fun times!

8

u/Environmental_Big510 Sep 07 '26

Congrats!! The looks on your faces tell it all. ☺️

7

u/JauntyGiraffe Sep 08 '26

As raid leader, I was so surprised like 5 years later when one of our main healers married one of our rogues like what the fuck? when did this happen?

4

u/Jassamin Sep 08 '26

I guess they were using shroud effectively then 🤔

12

u/bootmoots Sep 07 '26

This is so cute!!! Congrats!!

6

u/Splodingseal Sep 08 '26

Guenhwyvar like...Drizzt's cat?

2

u/Splodingseal Sep 08 '26

6

u/RapidFire05 Sep 08 '26

Bro leveled up

7

u/Saberdile Sep 08 '26

I met my girlfriend through WoW, but not in the way most people have. I met her ex while doing RP on Moon Guard, the normal kind not in Goldshire, and eventually the ex asked if I wanted to be in a poly relationship with the both of them. I was coming out of a divorce at this point and decided I would give it a whirl, I thought it would be fun. They had been together for 6 years at this point, and the ex had wanted to open the relationship.

We saw each other a few times, me going down to meet them. I found myself liking my girlfriend a lot more than I liked the ex, and my girlfriend started to like the affections I gave. Eventually they wanted to come live with me, and on the road trip back the ex told my girlfriend that she had to make a choice between me or her. She chose me, the both of us really didn't like polyamory but really liked each other. Honestly the whole start to our relationship was wacky.

I met my husband in WOW also, I was the healer & he was a Warlock. We met 8 months later, moved in together, moved to Arizona, married 5 years later & been together for 18 years.

ETA: Still live in AZ, been here since 2008 but moving soon to Oregon. Both retired!!

7

u/Limton Sep 08 '26

Awe congrats!!! My hubby & I also met thru Wow - we were just online friends, formed a guild together, and eventually fell in love before we ever even saw a picture of each other. We've been married for 16 years now :)

39

u/Counthermula Sep 07 '26

Congrats! This is awesome. Just know you are now empowering a bunch of weird ass dudes to hit on their female guildies way more than they already do 🤣

53

u/queen_guenhwyvar Sep 07 '26

Haha, he didn't talk to me basically at all the first year I was in guild because he wanted to be "respectful." Ironically I was the one that wore him down!!

5

u/sippinthat40 Sep 07 '26

May you have all the HoTs to see you through for life!

Congratulations 🥂

5

u/Phazor101 Sep 07 '26

Congratulations!

5

u/Jenetyk Sep 07 '26

Two of my long time wow friends flew out for my wedding. Pretty awesome and surreal to see.

4

u/j4fmemo Sep 07 '26

I hope raid leader took markers to let everyone know where to position themselves.
Congratulations!

4

u/queen_guenhwyvar Sep 07 '26

If you look close you can see the X on the ground 🤣

4

u/buddymoobs Sep 07 '26

This makes me so happy. I've met a handful of guildies IRL and even went to one's wedding. Congratulations and may you both always roll 99!

6

u/TheHighDruid Sep 07 '26

I met my wife in Serpentshrine Cavern.

7

u/queen_guenhwyvar Sep 07 '26

Very glad to hear something good came out of that place 🤣

5

u/masteryuri666 Sep 08 '26

I do apologize for this but you immediately made me think of that old WoW music video from Nyhm. “Hard like heroic”.

Congratulations regardless and again apologies.

u/queen_guenhwyvar Sep 08 '26

met my wife during legion... hated her guts because all my male friends and guildmates started orbiting her. it was so annoying, we didnt get shit done anymore, nobody wanted to do m+ etc because they were camping rare hunter pets wirh her, holy fuck... and i projected my negative feelings on her. the first time we actually talked 1 on 1 told her to fuck off but she was delighted that i was not trying to woo her... then we kept talking...
anyway... 2 years ago all my friends and guild mates that were having the hots for her came to our wedding and played with our toddler son lmao

4

u/Alert_Silver9386 Sep 08 '26

Nice, does your husband play a bear tank? ;)

5

u/JealousAstronomer342 Sep 07 '26

What a cute couple you are, and such a lovely dress you’re wearing! Congratulations!

4

u/Regular_Celery_2579 Sep 07 '26

Nerds, so fun though, you are awesome! My wife cannot play (she has tried and it makes her nauseous) so I’m super jealous.

4

u/nargfish Sep 08 '26

This is so beautiful, congratulations!

I met my wife in game in TBC, and have been together IRL since 2010. We have kept some friends the entire time, and soon their kids and our kids will be able to run full 2nd generation dungeons together.

Again this warms my heart, I wish you both (and your guild) the very best.

4

u/Namlad Sep 08 '26

Show us the druid theme!

3

u/12eye Sep 08 '26

Druid wedding? I don't see Malfurion cosplay anywhere. Congratulations.

4

u/blunderball1 Sep 08 '26

Met my wife during TBC when she joined the guild I was in. 6 months later we were both officers arguing about raid tactics, annoying the GM. Played through Wrath and Cata together, levelling alts and all sorts. Her the undead Holy Priest, me the Cow Enhance Shaman.

Had our 15th anniversary 2 weeks ago.

9

u/Thedubfather Sep 07 '26

The dream! Congratz!

6

u/NeonVoidx Sep 07 '26

8

u/RiddleoftheSphynx Sep 08 '26

You always think that you can spot a WoW player a mile away. You really can't, we're all sorts of people. All three of you look like just regular folks, but in good ways. Makes me wonder how many players pass each other while out and about, and never know. Congrats on finding the one that is yours.

3

u/SufficientTable Sep 07 '26

So sweet!!!!

3

u/LondonsCreep Sep 07 '26

Congratulations to you both!

3

3

u/obscuregamer000 Sep 07 '26

I am so happy for the two of you! That is beautiful

3

u/existentialfeline Sep 07 '26

First. I love your name, I went by a similar moniker in Tibia. Second of all, huge congrats!! My hubs and i met in Mists and we've been married 8 years together for 12. Two of our guildies were invited and showed up. It was verrryy small we had about 20 people total so the two guildies turning up made it super special.

3

u/Sisoflex Sep 07 '26

'09 here, we've been together since (rl) go WyldFyre-Korialstratz 🥰

3

u/chloe-et-al Sep 07 '26

5

u/queen_guenhwyvar Sep 07 '26

3

I also met my husband through WoW and we've been together for 6 years now! :)

I might have the record here. I met my husband in EverQuest. We just celebrated our 24th anniversary. Wishing you as much happiness!

3

u/Jassamin Sep 08 '26

I met my partner on WoW. Raiding together for maybe four years before discovering we lived all of 15 minutes apart. Having the main tank and one of the healers disappear to have a baby did cause some drama though 😬

3

u/Xzenergy Sep 08 '26

Crazy how people meet over the internet. Best thing I got from wow was a crippling mmo addiction in my teens lol

3

u/Rith_Reddit Sep 08 '26

Met my wife on WoW as well, 10 years happily married.

Congrats!

3

u/Seohnstaob Sep 08 '26

Met my husband on WoW 16 years ago randomly and havent been apart more than a day since! Congratulations!

3

u/Losbennett Sep 08 '26

Congratulations! I (healer) started dating the main tank of our raid group, and 18 years later we have a 5 year old daughter. I know lots of people with similar stories. It’s so special. ❤️

3

u/sworn_vulkan Sep 08 '26

Stopped playing wow last year but I love this and all the other stories on this thread!

3

u/zen4thewin Sep 08 '26

How many people have met their spouse on WOW?!? Dear Lord. Better marriage rate than most dating apps, apparently.

3

3

u/eckokittenbliss Sep 08 '26

Congrats!

I met my husband in a video game called Asherons Call.

We just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary a few months ago.

And of course these days we play WOW together lol

3

u/Mindless_Celery5125 Sep 08 '26

While my boyfriend and I didn’t meet in WoW, we played while we were long-distance and it saved our relationship, I swear. Congrats, fellow druids ❤️ ishnu allah

3

u/ZweigleHots Sep 09 '26

I had a thing with a fellow guild officer for a couple years in the vanilla days. That voice on Ventrilo, oof.

3

u/jessdottig Sep 09 '26

These are my favorite stories, because I share a similar one. We tie the knot on Halloween, after meeting in Azeroth 9 years ago. 2 states, 3 houses, 3 cats, a dog, and a 5 year old later, we're finally going to make it official I suppose. Congrats on finding your forever player 2.

2

u/Far_Research_9447 Sep 07 '26

Congratulations! That is awesome. Id met my wife in wow as well during wotlk era. Id decided to quit being a sweaty nerd and seapped to learn druid healing. Guild she was in was looking for healer for raid and joined. We duo healed with me off tanking for dungeons which eventually evolved into me main tank and her pocker healer for years on end. Never expected it but we been happy for about 15 years now. So fully encourage some wow love, but no drama lol.

This is so cute, congrats! My fiance and I also met in WoW about 6 years ago. He's a mage main and I'm a fury warrior, so we were always in friendly competition on the meters.
I love hearing about other happy couples who met this way :)
