Murloc Monday Murloc Monday - ask your questions here
Aaaaaughibbrgubugbugrguburgle! RwlRwlRwlRwl!
That's murloc for "Welcome to Murloc Mondays" - where people can ask any type of question about WoW without getting strangled by a Death Knight.
Questions can range from what's new in Dragonflight, what class is OP, and how many Demons will it take to down Thrall?
Questions can come from brand new players, players returning, or veteran players who never got a chance to ask the right question.
Afraid of not getting an answer? Rest assured, we know that at least 90% of questions get answered!
You may want to look at /r/wownoob as well!
Here are some handy guides to start World of Warcraft as a brand new player or start Classic World of Warcraft as a brand new player.
Unless you played in the current expansion, pretty much everything has changed. If you're returning after a very long break, check out the Wowhead Returning Players Guides.

Does raidbot undersell the Guillotine trinket or do I misunderstand why its good? I'm frost DK and everything lists it as the BIS trinket to use (matched by the newest Kithix trinket).
I don't have the 2p which does change things of course but the mythic guillotine sims lower than the mythic Keeper Core I have and both sim lower than the heart of ula'tek so theres no reason to run both.

Are you supposed to only be able to roll once a week per boss in raid?
I did grotto twice and could only roll the first time.

Is the myth gear piece from the labyrinth timegated 3 weeks ? Haven't touched it yet and a friend wants to do it with me tomorrow but the only thing that I care about is the myth piece. I don't care about crests or titles or anything.
Thanks.

There's an item you get from a quest and you need 3 of them to buy a myth piece. It looks like each week we'll get access to another one so yes a myth piece in 3 weeks. It's unclear if you can just do all 3 the same week (once all are available) or if you need to do it three times over the three weeks to get it.

Forever doesnt have a QA thread, so hope its ok to ask here.
Havent played since Warlords, I'm completely out of the loop but Forever caught my interest. Can any beta players say how relevant the new WC3 campaign feels to the new setting?
Its seems pretty expensive and I'm a little bummed theres supposedly no base buildng missions.

u/Ulu-Mulu-no-die 18h ago
Know that the steep price is only for the beta, when Forever comes out you'll only need the subscription to play it, like all other classic versions.

I'm not sure we've totally exhausted how it might come in but basically it's relevant to class quests for Undead Paladins. Even then, it's kind of fun background info that adds context to what/who those quests are about. I don't think it's relevant to anyone else. If you don't want to spend the money or the time just frankly look up a summary or a video.

Regarding raiding dificulty. normal = lfg, heroic = competent guilds, mythic = tryhard groups?
Also I've never done much organized group activites in mmo's (pug life for me yo ho ho), anyone who has experience with current day swtor raiding able to help me understand how difficult, heroic, and mythic is? Would a 'master mode raid' in swtor be equivalent in dificulty to a 'mythic raid' in wow?
Does the lack of addons make a difference when you've raided there or is there less mechanics you have to do in them vs wow?
1
u/Gangsir 12h ago
Can't compare to swtor, but generally everything up to heroic is puggable (doable with groups of strangers) at this point in the season (~halfway through).
The first few bosses of mythic can sometimes be pugged, but generally it's for coordinated guilds only. There is a large rift in difficulty between mythic and heroic, guilds capable of clearing mythic all the way through (called "CE guilds") are vastly better than guilds that can clear heroic (AOTC guilds).
Mythic bosses are typically also the point where addons become required - before that, using ingame messages and context clues can get you through fights.

What the hell is going on with the new invasion events? I have completed like 4 of them but haven't got credit a single time. I seem to get credit for the scenarios before the big boss, but the big boss itself I never get credit.

Sorry if this is obvious but is the new patch story already completely available or do I need to wait for LFR to release to finish the last chapter? I don't remember how it works.

Killing the new boss Kith'ix is part of the main campaign, but Story mode is already unlocked if you want to solo it.
Normal is pretty easy to PUG too. There's a lot of mechanics, but you can kind faceroll and heal through any mistakes.

Okay, this is kinda a weird question, but I'm trying to track down a comic strip from a long time ago - definitely pre-2015. My brain keeps on trying to tell me it was Penny Arcade or Litterbox Comics but I can't find it in either of their archives.
It's a couple with some little kids reminiscing about the good old days where they used to stay up all night running Karazhan with their friends and now they have to do real life. It's driving me nuts because it's from this comic that I got the idea that Kara was a 40-man.
Anyone? Or was it a fever dream?

Anyone have a bug in Kindo Jan where they can't continue after slaying Sullied Revenant? I'm completely stuck. So annoying after spending so much time

u/Horse625 3d ago
Yeah I'm definitely taking my time getting around to labyrinth runs for exactly this reason. Bugs always emerge in big new things like this early on.

Yes, there seem to be some others reporting the same or similar bugs: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/labyrinth-progression-bug/2381401/35

are there any addons that attaches spell names or short descriptions to the scrolling boss info mechanic that Blizzard recently added? it just has icons, and i 100% can not remember raid boss abilities based on their spell icons. i barely even remember my own spell ability icons, much less the icons for 8 different bosses.

There is a setting in the edit mode to change it to bars that have the spell name

This is just bloody awesome πππ
Thanks for this! No question so i'm hoping i won't get strangled by a DK now π

For the Tauren players in the Forever beta -
I've always loved Tauren, so Mulgore is definitely where my Forever journey will begin when it officially drops. Just not sure on class yet. Any recommendations? Also, I just found out yesterday about the racial that increases move speed as long as you keep moving. How impactful is that? Also, does it stack with other move speed buffs like Ghost Wolf?

u/hoax1337 5d ago
How impactful is that?
I felt like it was most impactful for traveling longer distances, since it doesn't stack up super fast and drops instantly if you get it.
I had fun min/maxing it on a hunter, constantly running and only briefly stopping to fire an auto shot. I kind of stopped doing it when I caught myself running in circles around quest givers to turn in quests while keeping the buff up - that felt a bit silly, considering I wanted to try and take it a bit slower than my typical "do things as fast as possible" approach from retail.
Other than that, I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I'm leaning towards shaman or hunter, maybe warrior depending on what my friends are playing.
So, basically everything except druid is still an option for me :D
1
u/Horse625 5d ago
Yeah I've tried getting into druid several times in retail over the years. I always nope out when I find myself trying to set up multiple action bars.
Shaman is calling my name, just for the sheer amount of utility and options. Warrior is boring and I don't want to manage ammo as a hunter, though I suppose I could go Survival with it.
Also maybe the distance running racial will be nice for totem quests. I assume we'll still have to go all over the place for each element.

u/beef_owl 4d ago
A Tauren Shaman is seriously such a fantastic class fantasy combo. They look great in minimal gear too and while mail isnβt always a crowd favorite for transmogs I think a lot of it looks great on a Tauren. Mainly if you hide the helmet and such.

Why can't we play murlocs? I must mrrrlrgalalalaaaah as a warrior Murloc.

Story reason is probably bc they're not a political force
Design reason is probably just being too small to show armor, weapons, spell reflects that sort of stuff
But they should totally just let us anyway, we'd know what we're getting into

Which tabards are accessible to free trial players? Alliance specifically
1
u/wordwar 4d ago
Probably most major and secondary faction tabards for past expansions with some exceptions (some zones where the faction resides don't scale down to level 20). Some achievement related tabards (e.g. Tabard of the Explorer). Most holiday tabards, although you will have to wait for the holiday for a chance at them.
Do you have specific tabards in mind you'd like to earn?

How do I translate Darnassian into English?
1
u/tenthousandthousand 5d ago
This is probably the best source of info on the Darnassian words we do know. Blizzard tends to have reasonably consistent languages but doesnβt release them publicly except for a few words at a time.

what the heck, can you not get rings from delves anymore? i've run like 30 delves specifically looking for a ring from the vendor at the end and have never seen it. i've probably done twice as many runs altogether and pretty sure i've never seen a ring from the vendor since i've unlocked him.
