Gray, Anthracite, Anthracite was by far the worst combo from last season. While the crimson and white combos aren’t bad, it’s the most overused color scheme in college football and the Cougs should use their other colors.

In order of best to worst:

Gray-Crimson-Gray. Classic home with the script logo looks great

Crimson-White-Crimson. Best road combo

All-White. Icy whites are always clean

Gray-Anthracite-Gray. Decent home alternate look

White-White-Anthracite. Good to mix in anthracite in a road alternate

White-Crimson-Crimson. Personally not a fan of the ketchup bottle combo

My list

1: Gray, Anthracite, gray. Super cool alternative that uses all 3 colors perfectly.

2: gray crimson gray. Should wear this and it’s away version more instead of wearing all the unoriginal red and white uniforms.

3: All White. While there are tons of teams with an all white uniform, the simplistic design works.

4: White White Anthracite. Initially didn’t like it, but it grew on me as the game went on. This uniform looks way better with the crimson helmet. It’s my favorite away alternate. I don’t know why they are wearing this uniform when the version with the crimson helmet exists.

5: White Crimson Crimson. A boring red and white uniform which have been criminally overused across college football. Ranking this one higher because it’s not as overused as the one in last place.

6: Crimson White Crimson. It’s overrated because of the Apple Cup and there are too many red and white teams that a uniform with this template to count. The Cougars should be using their unique uniforms instead of wearing this.

I don't know of many teams with similar shades of red besides maybe Arkansas that use the Crimson-White-Crimson combination. Oklahoma, Alabama, and Indiana use Red-White-White as their standard road look and Stanford uses all-white.

I miss the anthracite helmets. The all-anthracite look with the newer anthracite jerseys we have now with the crimson touches would look so good

The teams listed further prove my point. Crimson is still a common shade of red. Fresno State, North Carolina State, Temple, Louisville, Houston, Texas Tech, Stanford, Utah, Maryland, Rutgers, Liberty, New Mexico State, Western Kentucky, Miami Ohio, UMass, UNLV, Texas A&M, Arkansas State, Louisiana, Louisiana Monroe, and Troy are all teams that use a red white red uniform in 2025. The shades of red do not matter when 20 other teams are using it too. I’d rather have the cougars use their gray uniforms more, especially anthracite because no other team is using a color that has even close to it.

I like the anthracite helmets but it was the least used helmet so I understand why it was cut. Outside of the mono chrome look, the only other combination that used the anthracite helmet was the one with the red jersey, which is very similar to the classic gray crimson gray uniform. I would’ve liked to see the answer site helmet used with a white jersey and anthracite pants or with an anthracite jersey and Crimson pants.

They only used one anthracite jersey this season and it’s the one with the crimson number outline. So it’s implied.

I’m a traditionalist so I’m always gonna be gray/crimson/gray at home and gray/white/gray away. That said, nobody really likes ketchup bottle but we seem to do quite well in them. No crimson and all gray/anthracite is unacceptable. I don’t think we have been too hot in icy whites of late. Top “alternates” are the alternates of yesteryear. Crimson pajamas at home and crimson pants away. IMHO, peak uniform was 2011-13 but cut away the stupid Nike fly collar and useless pants semi-stripe. Loved the shoulder stripe tho. Went too plain after that. Be curious to see what Bledsoe/Lead era throwbacks would look like on a modern jersey cut.
