Zarc: he had the build up, foreshadowing, design even possible motives for what he did and they just made him a mustache twiddling, villainous incel who’s obsessed with being good at card games while trying to kill everyone in sight. Also the Gargoyle Yuya design didn’t help matters either.

Aki (Post Dark Signers): she’s literally just a Pokemon, and that Pokémon’s name is Yusei. Nothing much to really say, the fact that she didn’t get any sort of get back against Divine/Sayer to close off her character arc is a real real shame.

Fubuki: Was built up as far back as the first 10 episodes and simply amounted to yet another unfunny GX comedy gag. Bro was deadass in hell for god knows how long and after he gets his memory back everything he’s just a total goof, no exploring of his psyche or dealing with any sort of trauma. Not even getting to have some get back at Banner. What a shame.

Go Onizuka: bro deadass threw away his entire humanity just to for a chance to rematch playmaker again, even someone as deranged as Kaiba woulda cringed at what Go did to himself on top of an unearned redemption off screen. No wonder Vrains was a total cluster fuck of a series

It's absolutely INCREDIBLE that the stupid negation effect tucked on this thing, which I was paying absolutely no attention to, can be used to turn this into ANOTHER going first card.

I’m talking real support too, not just a single card here or there. By my count in recent sets Akiza, Anna Kaboom, Serena(?), Skye Zaizen, and now Mai have all gotten new waves. (Did Luna get some recently, or was that just the one card?)

Who’s left? Alexis is the biggest, I’m downright exasperated at her delay. Then there’s Rio from Zexal… did she ever have a real archetype? There’s also several minor characters I’d love to see, like Dextra. Oh, and Tea. She won all her games, give her an archetype! But that’s my opinion. What do you guys think?

And one can't blame him for carrying that guilt. Ai knows that Yusaku only suffered through the horrors of the Lost Incident so that an Ignis like him could exist in the first place. Yusaku went from genuinely loving Dueling to using it strictly as a weapon to exact revenge on his captors. Fortunately, he didn't cross the line into becoming a villain, he was simply driven to right a devastating wrong.

Ai dedicated over a hundred episodes to bringing some semblance of happiness back to Yusaku's life. Their final duel was essentially Ai taking a page from Revolver by having his own therapeutic intervention, well, it's more like Ryoken took a page from Ai without asking and executed his "therapy session" with Takeru first. Ai wasn't just throwing the duel to prevent the dark future where Yusaku dies trying to protect him. He was trying to liberate Yusaku from the lingering trauma of the Lost Incident. Even though Ai knew it was a nearly impossible task, since Yusaku would be the last person to ever forget what happened. He still felt compelled to try one last time while trying to paint himself as a villain to him.

Their bond didn't start out this pure. Initially, Ai was just using Yusaku as a shield to evade Revolver and the Knights of Hanoi. But as time passed and Ai witnessed how Yusaku carried his heavy burdens, his motives shifted from self-preservation to genuine care and deep remorse. It's heartbreaking when you look back at the reality of it: six-year-old Yusaku, locked away in a room for six months, starved, and forced to duel against simulations just so an Ignis could be born.
