Advanced Question about Pluto

In Progressions, what is the difference between a conjunction, a square, and an opposition of Pluto to the MC, when it comes to a major professional and reputational crisis?

Since you mentioned progressions, I'd like to make a small clarification: in secondary progressions Pluto barely moves, so it’s the progressed MC (about 1°/year) that travels and could contact natal Pluto. If you mean Pluto moving toward the MC, that would be solar arc directions (every planet advances roughly 1°/year).
As for the aspects, the conjunction is the most direct, a deep restructuring of career and public image, with power and control themes front and center. The square is more about friction and pressure, power struggles and forced changes that push the person to act. The opposition brings in the other pole, with Pluto landing on the IC side, so the crisis could play out between private life or roots and the public role, or through other people holding power over the person's reputation.
None of them guarantees a crisis. That depends on the rest of the chart and the transits active at the time.

Thanks for your comment! I was actually talking about Primary Directions, but all the info was super helpful. Appreciate it!

Glad it helped! Since you’re working with primary directions, keep in mind that they’re very sensitive to birth time and roughly 4 minutes of error shifts the timing by about a year, so the MC is one of the most affected point. For a career crisis, the reading is only as reliable as the rectification; and if you’re using software, check that Pluto is selected as a promissor, since traditional primary directions only worked with the seven traditional planets and some programs leave the outer planets out by default.
