Discussion The Partywide exp share is what enables one of the Most fun Playstyles

Specifically in galar you can Just keep rotating Mons you find in and Out without having to grind, aside from almost every Pokemon Just being a good Design This is what motivates me to use dozens of Mons in a playthrough, whenever i replay Gen 3-5 i have to Deal with grinding a whole Team Up to the next Gym Leader, especially when i dont have a good counter, gen 8 really lets you use almost every new mon in one playthrough, this also prevents overlevelling too hard, If youre ever replaying sw/sh you should give this Playstyle a try

Discussion What Pokemon that doesnt fit any of the pseudo legendary Qualifications feels Most Like a pseudo?

The 3 conditions for being a pseudo legendary are 3 stages in a Line, the Last Form Has a bst of 600 and its in the slow lvl Up group, what Pokemon thats None of that would fit Most with being a pseudo? I think druddigon fits pretty Well and could Work as being a middle Stage, or cyclizar actually being a pseudo! Legendary

Discussion You know who really could have benefitted from a third Shadow Pokemon game in hindsight? Arceus in Gen 4.

Think about it. Back in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, Arceus's Azure Flute event was canceled because Game Freak thought players wouldn't understand it, so, there was no way to get Arceus legitimately in those days. Imagine then if Genius Sonority did with it what it did with Lugia and gave us a conclusive third game in the Orre saga where Pokemon from Gen 4 are now being taken and turned into Shadow Pokemon along with the other generations. They already have the models thanks to Pokemon Battle Revolution (save for a few that could be added like Giratina and Rotom's alternate Formes), it'd give players a legitimate way to obtain Arceus in Gen 4, and, let's be honest, does the idea of capturing and purifying a Shadow-ized version of God not sound like the ultimate conclusion to a Shadow Pokemon trilogy?

Discussion Luminescent Platinum was the best switch pokemon expierence I had

Normally I am not that big into rom hacks, I love gen 4 and I actually really like the graphics style of the remake.

When I saw luminescent Platinum I just thought I should test it.

And god damn it blows everything out of the water that Gamefreak did on the switch.

Feels like the perfect gen 4 remake without too many rom hack extras.

Game really showed me again that I like the non open world pokemon games more.

Really makes me kinda sad that the few best pokemon expierence are all non official.

Discussion Was there a Pokémon you disliked but it grew to be one of your favorites?

For me it has to be Porygon. It’s not that I didn’t like it but I was afraid that it was gonna give me seizures just by looking at it for too long. I heard about its episode when I was a kid & thought if I looked at it long enough, the red & blue flashes would appear & I’d have a seizure. Thankfully I got over those worries years later & the Porygon line are some of my favorites!

Discussion Which Pokemon did not get enough love?

As the generations go on, some older Pokemon get new toys to play with, such as new evolutions, pre-evolutions, regional variants, Mega evolution, and Dynamax forms to name some. While getting something is better than getting nothing, there are still some Pokemon who got less impactful or insignificant things. A few examples that I can think of:

Corsola: the Galarian form did get some usage with it being Eviolite eligible, and while I love the concept and design of Cursola, it has been irrelevant since the day it came out. I wish it were better or more unique. I think a Ghost/Water or Ghost/Rock would have helped.

Stantler: Wyrdeer is a cool design, but outside of you riding it in PLA, nobody thinks about it. I think a few more BTS would have helped it stand out, especially against Farigiraf who became out in a similar time with the same typing.

Victreebel: I looooove the Mega design, but nobody uses it since it’s not good at all. From its promo and Dex entries, I was really hoping for an ability or move that would allow Poison-type moves to hit Steel types.

Jynx: no explanation needed here, but if you’re out of the loop, it got left behind after Smoochum. Since it’s one of the most disliked Pokemon in the franchise, I doubt it’ll get anything again, which I think is a shame.

Any other Pokemon you would add to the list? I again want to say that at least these Pokemon got something, while there are many that don’t have anything since their debut. Still, I would argue that these Pokemon will be further ignored and not become relevant ever again. Not every Pokemon has to be a standout, but if they’re going to give something to one, they should try to make it stand out.

EDIT: I’m highlighting Pokemon who DID get something after their debut, but did not get ENOUGH. I’m not focusing on Pokemon who haven’t gotten anything at all, that’s a separate discussion.

Discussion Can we talk about how good Pokemon music is

I could go all day about how many of my favorite songs come from Pokemon. Just a few I can think of:

Games:
Pokemon Sword Shield
- Gym Leader theme. I think we can all agree this is one of, if not the best in the series
- Elite Four theme. Chants are so good in this game and the phases

Pokemon Omega Ruby Alpha Sapphire
These games not only produce good songs on their own, they go back and remastered/remade so many songs from other games including legendary themes.
My favorites are:
- Deoxys
- Regi Theme
- Ho Oh theme
- Elite Four
- Maxie Archie

Pokemon Sun Moon
- Trailer/Intro theme
- Elite Four
- Totem
- Mother Beast Lusamine

Pokemon Black White
- Elite four. I think we all can say it’s best in the series
- N’s Farewell
- Emotion theme

Plus all the route/town themes. And spinoffs. They need their own thread

Pokemon’s music quality and range is impressive, we don’t get to appreciate it enough. What are your favorites?

Discussion Pokemon Soundtracks are a blessing and revisting the OST. What are your personal picks for the best Legendary and Battle League theme's in the series?

I want to collect the best battle themes across the franchise. These soundtracks genuinely give me so many feelings and I think are worth re-experiencing and want to hear peoples favorites because its hard to remember all the highlights the series has.

Some of my favorites currently are:

Guzma's Theme (Sun and Moon)

Champion & Red Battle Music (HeartGold & SoulSilver)

Team Aqua & Magma Leader Battle Music (Omega Ruby Alpha Sapphire)

Battle Tree (Sword and Shield)

Misc Rate my 1st Gen Omanyte, pls

I was checking my VC Blue save file in PKSM and reviewing the Pokémon I obtained in Pokemon Stadium (I extracted the save file to my PC and played it there using an N64 emulator).

This Omanyte have these stats

- HP 15

- Atk 11

- Def 13

- Spe 15

- Spd 11

Considering that in the first two generations the maximum value for each stat is 15, I find this to be quite solid for something obtained randomly. The only thing left to determine is what nature it ended up with tranfering it to newest games. It even had Ice-type Hidden Power —it’s a shame that move has since been removed.

What do you think??

Discussion Do real animals exist in pokemon or not?

Post image
6.2k Upvotes

Look from the pokemon anime, some scenes depict animals as seen above. Emphasis on Animals, not pokémon - ANIMALS. Like real non-pokemon fish, a mongoose and a giraffe. No it doesn't look like a Girafarig, just a plain giraffe. Heck, you can see ash wore a cow costume. It wasn't a miltank, just a depiction of a classic black and white cow. Heck, in the older cards, they'd have normal animals in the background. In the form of birds, bugs or even a worm. So what gives, these can't be fake creatures since they look exactly like real life animals. Are they're actual normal animals-but they're extremely rare?

As part of a collaboration, I made three Mega Evolutions! And since it's Halloween season, I made after Ghost and Psychic types! Here are the miniatures, in both normal and shiny forms, next to a minifigure and using some attacks they know!

Mega Slowbro is using Slack Off!

Mega Chimecho is using Metal Sound!

Mega Chandelure is using Overheat!

As a bonus, I even made a larger Mega Chimecho moc!

Discussion Physical remake ports for Switch 2

I would genuinely be willing to pay double or even triple for a physical copy of Firered/Leafgreen. Assuming Nintendo decides to keep releasing older Pokemon games ported to switch I feel like it would be such a missed opportunity to not offer physical games. There is a market for gamers who like to have physical copies of their media, and I will continue to buy all of my switch games physical. I would argue pokemon especially is known for their cartridges colors and box art.

Discussion Which Pokémon Game Would Be Best for Me

Hello, I am looking to play a Pokémon game and would like a recommendation. What I am looking for is something on the easier side. I like cute Pokemon but I don't want so many that I am overwhelmed trying to keep them all leveled. My favourites are Squirtle and Raichu but I don't HAVE to play a game with them in it. I am mostly familiar with Gen I but would like to see some new Pokémon. Some other Pokémon I think are cute: Horsea, Poliwag, Sandshrew, Dratini. I would also like a game with dress up options for my character.

Thank you so much for any help in pointing me in the right direction!

Image First time EVER beating a Pokemon game as a fan of 10+ years

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

I was first introduced to Pokemon by my friends from school when I was a kid. They told me to make a Roblox account and play Pokemon Brick Bronze. That was my first experience with it, and I was hooked. I became a huge Pokemon nerd, and to this day I still am (though it's not as popular with my peers as it was back then).

Growing up, my family didn't really have videogames. We didn't own any Nintendo consoles, and therefore no Pokemon. Occasionally I would visit cousins and play games on their Switch for brief periods of time, but never long enough to make any real progress. I've played fanmade Pokemon games and that's it.

Suffice it to say the above run of Pokemon Emerald feels really, really good.

Discussion I have a memory that doesn't make sense.

I have a memory as a child playing a pokemon game on a DS which I've always thought was Heartgold or Soulsilver, but can't find the cartridge.

I remember being stuck in the bottom of a cave that was a few parts of land separated by water and jump ramps that only had psyduck spawns. And today I thought, "I haven't looked up what cave I was stuck in. It wouldn't take that long..."

I was wrong.

From what I look up; Bike ramps weren't in HGSS, and I can't find any cabe that looks like my memory. But it couldn't be from Hoenn or Sinnoh because my starter was a cyndaquil.

Does anyone here know something that explains this?
