It's that time of year again!
Despite the several automated and signposted notices and warnings on this issue, it is a constant source of headaches for the mod team. Particularly considering our massive growth this past year, we thought it was about time for another reminder about everyone's favorite part of posting on /r/worldbuilding..... Context
Context is a requirement for almost all non-prompt posts on r/worldbuilding, so it's an important thing to understand... But what is it?
What is context?
Context is information that explains what your post is about, and how it fits into the rest of your/a worldbuilding project.
If your post is about a creature in your world, for example, that might mean telling us about the environment in which it lives, and how it overcomes its challenges. That might mean telling us about how it's been domesticated and what the creature is used for, along with how it fits into the society of the people who use it. That might mean telling us about other creatures or plants that it eats, and why that matters. All of these things give us some information about the creature and how it fits into your world.
Your post may be about a creature, but it may be about a character, a location, an event, an object, or any number of other things. Regardless of what it's about, the basic requirement for context is the same:
In general, telling us the Who, What, When, Why, and How of the subject of your post is a good way to meet our requirements.
That said... Think about what you're posting and if you're actually doing these things. Telling us that Jerry killed Fred a century ago doesn't do these things, it gives us two proper nouns, a verb, and an arbitrary length of time. Telling us who Jerry and Fred actually are, why one killed the other, how it was done and why that matters (if it does), and the consequences of that action on the world almost certainly does meet these requirements.
For something like a resource, context is still a requirement and the basic idea remains the same; Tell us what we're looking at and how it's relevant to worldbuilding. "I found this inspirational", is not adequate context, but, "This article talks about the history of several real-world religions, and I think that some events in their past are interesting examples of how fictional belief systems could develop, too." probably is.
If you're still unsure, feel free to send us a modmail about it. Send us a copy of what you'd like to post, and we can let you know if it's okay, or why it's not.
Why is Context Required?
Context is required for several reasons, both for your sake and ours.
Context provides some basic information to an audience, so they can understand what you're talking about and how it fits into your world. As a result, if your post interests them they can ask substantive questions instead of having to ask about basic concepts first.
If you have a question or would like input, context gives people enough information to understand your goals and vision for your world (or at least an element of it), and provide more useful feedback.
On our end, a major purpose is to establish that your post is on-topic. A picture that you've created might be very nice, but unless you can tell us what it is and how it fits into your world, it's just a picture. A character could be very important to your world, but if all you give us is their name and favourite foods then you're not giving us your worldbuilding, you're giving us your character.
Generally, we allow 15 minutes for context to be added to a post on r/worldbuilding so you may want to write it up beforehand. In some cases-- Primarily for newer users-- We may offer reminders and additional time, but this is typically a one-time thing.
As always, if you've got any sort of questions or comments on this topic, feel free to leave them here!

Hello fellow world builders. Just thought I'd pop by to ask how common are interspecies relationships within your setting? They're fairly regular within mine. It's a post post-apocalyptic setting the primary inhabitants of Earth are the Chimera which is the term for hyperevolved mutant animals followed by hybrids of the post-human species dwellers and Agrolith. Say nothing for robo-sexual marriages between organics and sapient robots.

In Noctism, each of the 8 Cardinals are believed to be incarnations of the 8 realms, embodying their characteristics and traits. Vítrí's domains are that of strife, rust and degradation.
When one has a disagreement in their life they Face Vítrí in the night sky and pray. he is thought to be a mediator in any conflict. Noctists think of the rust of iron as the natural consequence of violence. Your soul can "rust" if you're a needlessly disagreeable or violent person. Vítrí's role is to bear this weight, hence it's red hue.
----
Vítrí's Incarnation is a human. He's a younger Cardinal, only 120. Like the others his origins are kept secretive, alongside the methods that gift him his stature and prolonged senescence. He is a pragmatic man who generally avoids public appearances, but of his sparse sermons those present describe his voice to have a whisper like quality, It's soft but still has presence.
In spite of his mellow demeanor, he is still a Cardinal. He's shorter than most of the others, standing at 14ft (4.2m). The red paint that anoints his boy is used to symbolise rust and the toll he takes in his leadership of the nation. The Cardinals are very careful in their presentation, ensuring their faces are always properly obscured through use of wrappings and veils.
---
Vítrí as a Realm is a frigid one, It's dead landscapes spur to life in seasonal periods of activity. Mile high storms of volcanic soot and ash thunder across it's surface. Rust, iron and shards slashing anything caught in their wake.
The realm has been subject many Expeditions, journeys to it's great northern ocean yield vitriol, a potent acid with many applications back on earth.
---
Meta: The realm is based of prehistoric mars, the hemispherical ocean and ring that formed form one of it's moons spiraling inwards. Also much more volcanically active. A lot of the realms are based directly off the IRL planets, though some diverge more than others.
His eyes make him look high as a the planet he embodies, but I like them too much to change. When I get around to designing the other cardinals his red sclera's won't stick out so much. The actual page design is a little shoddy too lol, the text is too low. Still, much happier with the hindu inspirations over the Catholic ones, all that remains is his cappello romano, that plus the title of "cardinal".
On a side note excuse my prose, I don't write, and I'm trying to get better.

This little guy is called a Sand Pip (Also known as Ammocryptus absconditus, which means Hidden Sand-Hider) They are bipedal reptiles originating from the planet Velaria, a desert planet. Sand Pips are herbivorous, feeding on shrubs, sap, and fruits! Unlike most of the creatures of Velaria, they only have two legs. They simply evolved to not need them.

Rest of wojaks were made using photos of animal meat or half life 2 images.
Someone told me this was good enough to post on the main worldbuilding sub so I figured I’d give it a shot and see what you all think of the collages.
Context:
Meatoids (the people of this setting) are stuck in this afterlife of true immortality where their deformed numb skinless bodies are recreated over and over again in a lake of toxic sludge being pulled out and grafted together with metal parts from a factory and sent out into the wastes indebted to the factory
I wanted to explore the way people cope with this impossible situation and try to survive or even change things for the better.

In The Great Sphere, Life is embodied as Ammeoth, also called The Scarlet Weaver, or The Mother and Father of All Life.
In reality, Ammeoth exists in every living thing and doesn't have a shape as such, although there is a sentience behind the force (sentience so vast and encompassing it's completely beyond human comprehension).
People of all worlds, species, and cultures worship Ammeoth. They may be portrayed as the divine version of whatever species built the temple (for example, humans). Or as a giant, nine-limbed arachnid sitting on top of the Web of Life.
The Web of Life is a symbol people use to understand life and the interconnectedness of nature. It’s also the basis of their taxonomy.
Traditionally, the Web of Life has nine arms (Nine being the sacred number in the Great Sphere).
(Disclaimer: the Great Sphere is a universe with billions of worlds connected by portals, so the Web of Life is a massive simplification. "The Animals", for example, could probably easily be divided into several separate kingdoms by genetic/celular analysis, but they're grouped together because of their role in the environment. Also, I'm not nerdy enough to explore the cellular structure of fictional beings).
a) Tlaloi - mortals, sapient beings( that is, ones capable of creating civilizations and using tools, however primitive. Also capable of abstract thought and limited use of magic. Examples: humans, vhariars, chavikii.)
b) Queloi - magical beings. Half mortals, who can be killed, but never die of old age or natural causes. They don’t need food, but exist solely by ae (magical energy). Their magical abilities are high above anything possible for mortals. Examples: doukyalvr, lisyalvr.
Plants - a broad group of mostly sessile organisms capable of turning inorganic matter into organic matter. Includes aquatic and celestial plants.
Fungi - similar enough to fungi on Earth.
Zoophytes - on Earth this term historically was used to describe some sessile animals, thought to be forms between animals and plants. Within The Great Sphere, they make up a completely separate kingdom. Zoophytes are heterotrophic, which means they must consume organic matter, usually decaying plants or algae. They're mostly sessile, though some have motile larval stages. Most of them are small, but some species can grow into pseudo-trees. Their internal build and biochemistry are completely different from animals, plants or any other group.
Some zoophytes are cultivated.
A few species of pseudo-trees are grown for food, the most popular form being called meatwood. When dried, it gets as hard as wood and lasts forever, but when rehydrated and cooked, it melts in the mouth. Other species produce regenerating pseudo-organs, that can be harvested repeatedly for as long as the zoophyte lives. A few can be grown for harvestable egg-seeds or oils.
Others provide membranes used in magic, technology or water filtration.
Slimes - smaller species are similar to slime molds, while larger (mostly colonial) resemble fantasy slime monsters. The large ones can reach impressive sizes, though being slow and dependent on external food sources limits their growth. The biggest ones have symbiotic blue algae or live in environments where no other organisms could survive.
Blue Algae - organisms capable of turning inorganic matter into organic matter, but completely unrelated to plants. Most of them are single-cell, but a few species produced duckweed-like pseudoplants. They live in the water, soil and within the skydomes. The ones living inside skydomes are the only organisms capable of transforming pramatter from the Outside into regular matter. All others do it through symbiotic algae.
Many blue algae can be turned into food for humans or bioplastic (sometimes both). Dahlsi and Llodran people routinely consume blue algae, and their bodies have some ability to digest bioplastic.
Microflora - this kingdom encompasses all living beings that emanated directly from Ammeoth Themselves and evolved to give rise to macroscopic beings. It's probably more complex than all other Arms combined.
Aephytic microbes - a special group of microorganisms capable of creating organic matter using nothing but ae. Extremely rare on the Fifth Circle (where most of the sentient life resides), but more common on the Third and Seventh. Thought to be dominant on the Second and Eighth, but few mortals ever reached that far and lived to tell the tale. There's probably no life on the First and Ninth.
Aephytic pseudo-plants - plant-like organisms that create life particles using nothing but ae. Extremely rare on the Fifth Circle, but more common on the Third and Seventh, where they are often the dominant life forms. Some pseudo-plants were brought to be cultivated on the Fifth Circle for their magical properties. Examples:
a) Spider tree - its sap is used to make ichorine, which can be used as a blood replacement.
b) Lopham - lopham thorns are used as piercing. Driven through tongue, they allow one to be understood by all sentient beings. Driven through tragus they allow one to understand all living beings.
c) Koeron - its seed pods can be turned into whistles that have the power to enchant anyone who hears them. People under the koreon spell can be made to do simple things (walk, stand, sit - not dance Makarena or pretend to live normal lives until the protagonist is ready to be lured into a trap).
d) Yel-hai - a martyr tree, rumored to drastically increase the magical potential of anyone who can survive being enveloped by its tendrils. In the Old Karirian Cluster, they're considered a myth.

Every morning, someone dies.
So I have this introduction to a world a creating, where the magic system is based on truth and lies. Tell me what are your thoughts about it, any changes you’ll made, or any plot hole you see.
Counterfeit Dawn
Do you remember last night?
You went to bed, closed your eyes, and sooner or later you felt asleep. You probably dreamed
something, and if you actually did, you’ve surely forgotten it by now. But let me ask you this: Are you
really sure that whoever opened their eyes this morning is still you?
After all, no one truly remembers how a dream begins.
Every night, while you dream, something happens. No one knows exactly what it is but it always ends
up the same. Someone else wakes up in your bed: someone with your face, your memories, your
personality and absolute confidence that they are you.
An almost one to one copy of you who will carry on with your life, laugh for you, cry for you, and talk
about your experiences as if they actually lived them. The thought that they replaced someone else
won’t even cross their mind.
But as I said, a copy that is “almost” perfect.
The replacement process is not perfect. Small errors slips from night to night, and as time goes by,
they accumulate. A trivial memory that disappears, a conversation that seems completely different or
even life changing events totally forgotten.
Nobody knows exactly what you’ll lose, there’s no way to know. If you don’t remember something,
how would you realize you have forgotten it?
Despite all of this, there’s something that sets these copies apart of who they think they are: They
don’t dream. And in this world, that changes everything.
Dreams are the frontier between reality and falsehood, the place where what’s not true can be.
Where lies can become big enough to change the world as we know. The copies, having never
experienced it, can not lie.
You know, they clearly retain the imagination of those who they replaced, even make up fictional
stories or tell jokes. What they truly can’t do is to pass off someone they know to be false as truth.
Something physical doesn’t allow them.
But not lying doesn’t mean they always tell the truth either.
Their memories are incomplete, errors accumulated copy after copy. They don’t lie, they simply make
mistakes.
Now, in your case. You claim you’re wanted for murder, a crime you swear you didn’t commit.
You remember going to bed, closing your eyes and falling asleep. You didn’t even leave your room. I
mean, that’s how this conversation began.
So let me assure you my friend, I believe you. You are not lying…
You are simply making a mistake.
Power System - Knowledge
As a result of the dreaming phenomenon, knowledge is the center of this world. Lies that are passed as truth or searching what real in lies. Those who control these concepts can shape reality in different ways.
This creates a power system with two polar opposites born from the same phenomenon.
(Both this users are not intended has the good or the bad guys they are just results of the world, both sides don’t necessarily need to be in conflict)
Dreamers:
The exception. Rare copies that somehow break free from the replacement process and now are able to dream freely, therefore gaining the ability to lie at will.
They manifest lies into reality but only when it’s based around a false beliefs shared by a large number of people over long periods. The lies humanity has always dreamed of.
They can interpret the belief as they want but can’t contradict the core of the belief.
Cost: Lies are not free. The more a Dreamer uses their myth, the more they surrender control to the myth itself. When the push to hard they get consumed by the belief, losing themselves inside the lie
Dreamer: Black Cat
The user can project a cat shaped shadow with their hands that inflicts misfortune on everyone covered by it.
As the user manifests the lie more and more, their body starts turning cat like until finally they become into a black cat that gives minor bad luck, losing their consciousness.
Witnesses:
People that for some reason can’t dream, they can’t lie but that also means they are the only ones who have never been replaced. Without distorted memories, only they can claim an absolute truth. Reality rewards the with these abilities:
They can reproduce events that actually happened at will, transferring their properties to other objects, people, or their surroundings. Regardless of how improbable the original events may have been.
To manifest this truths, the user must possess an authentic physical evidence that proves the event truth.
Cost: The more improbable the event is, the greater the consequences. Common truths cost little, almost impossible one can kill the user before even activating.
Witness: “The sword that deflected a bullet”
When entering in contact with the evidence, the user can make that a sword (not knife, axe, etc, just swords) can deflect (not destroy or return, just deflect) any bullet (not any type of projectile). Every time they manifest this into a sword (not any time they deflect a bullet), a limb breaks all its bones. This is because it’s an event almost humanly impossible, but not that infinitely physically impossible.
The event must follow the same structure. sword > deflect > bullet. You can’t turn it into “any weapon destroyes any projectile”
Both this sides coexist one with another, the dreamer needs to be careful, since their supernatural abilities can increase the chance of improbable events, which can be used by witnesses for bad. While witnesses can’t explote the same truth through time, as it can end up creating a myth, and with mouth to mouth, become a powerful belief that can be used by dreamers
Knowledge is power.
The power system is incredibly simplified, each system has a ton of rules and conditions, and are balanced (or at least i think) if anyone is interested on them just let me know.

I was wondering if I could get some ideas from others on how they organize their world bible? I have just started and only learnt what a world bible was a week or so ago. Any good resources are welcome.
Over the past few months I have had this idea for a world stuck in my head, just growing, and I decided that it just needed to come out. In the last couple of weeks I have created the world, landscapes, different regions, climates and ecosystems in different areas, basics on people and culture, flora and fauna, basic physics and strange elements, as well as a general path of history with some branches that I have explored more than others. I started using Notion to create a world bible after I found out what it is, but I am finding myself a little overloaded with information and trying to organize it as logically as I can.
As an Example this is kind of how I have it organized now.
World Bible
Under each of these categories is a bunch of others, as shown in the first category and I feel like I am creating a potential doubled up of information. I would rather link back to information than have it written in several places.
Any advise is appreciated. And if their happens to be a theoretical physicist that wants to talk about some odd ideas I would love that too 😅

The Sand Killer (Also known as Ammolanius nocturnus, which means nocturnal sand butcher) are bipedal reptiles originating from the planet Velaria, a desert planet. They are silent predators related to the Sand Pip. They are extremely silent and can see in the dark, however due to this they are very sensitive to sunlight. They often get into fights for food, which explains the scars (Sand Pips get their scars from predators trying to eat them)

I want my story to be set more in a hard sci fi setting but I wanna play with more speculative theoretical concepts because the tech level around a type 2 civilization.
Spaceships, so rotation gravity is everywhere and the norm for human habitation off Terra, as well as megastructures like bishop rings are all over the sol system and even massive rotation bowl planetary crust habitats (based on the lunar/mars glass but scaled up to the size of multiple cities, so people live in 1g environments on luna and mars) standard and everywhere.
However Spaceships, I’m wanting to give them Gravity Generators (so they some how have the tech to manipulate gravity somehow but limited gravity fields.), because it gives me more freedom with space ship designs, be sleek and not having roaring nor acceleration gravity mess for warships and easier story setting. How should it work for a limited gravity field for the human decks and quarters side a space ship. They do have abandoned ancient alien worm hole gates to only a few solar systems with 1g earth like planets, abandoned alien technology is in my universe, no FTL travil. Also idk how I should design their ships nor what should power the ships? Fusion or antimatter. I love the way ships move in dune, like orbs or egg looking ships just flying everywhere but I also looked at a starlifter, and I think it’ll be cool if my ships had a glowing ball of plasma behind it like small star pushing the ship.
Thoughts or suggestions?

For eighty-seven days, the Sentinels held the capital's outer fortifications while Imperial Guard engineers constructed successive defensive lines. When the enemy finally breached the central walls, Voss personally led the First Company in a devastating counterattack, destroying the Chaos warlord and breaking the invasion. Only 193 Space Marines survived the campaign. Vardos IX remained loyal to the Imperium. Present Status Now operating in the darkness of the Imperium Nihilus, the Ashen Sentinels remain dangerously understrength. Their gene-seed reserves are limited, their fleet is scattered, and several companies have disappeared beyond the Great Rift. Nevertheless, their surviving warriors continue to answer desperate Imperial distress calls. For wherever humanity makes its final stand, the Ashen Sentinels intend to stand beside it. “Let the stars burn. Let the heavens fall. Our watch shall never end.”

Image credit: philosopher monkey by jj Grandville used for visualization purposes only I do not claim ownership
Note: I was gonna call them the jinn but they kind of turned into their own thing, now I am subverting myself I suppose, and dragons are being reworked at the moment.
The precursors or aïeux (as noted by the orque) are tall primate like humanoids dressed in Victorian lounge wear with reality warping and wish granting abilities they by stubborn ethic do not use or allow anyone to try and harness through any manner, favor, loophole or contract, they also possess a all knowing omniscience which extends to a meta awareness
The aïeux also (given by their name translated to English "forefathers") are the evolutionary precursor to the orque, though technically every orque's stubborn father or mother, the orque being born from a son of a aïeux that went down from their mountain home and forgot their powers and became documenters
They are the oldest race of all of the races I've done a expóse on, they are the very parody and subversion of both the concept of gods in a fantasy realm and Tom bombadil though unlike old tom could care less because he isn't affected by that pesky one ring, the aïeux couldn't care less because they know they could fix everything but don't because to quote one "where's the fun in that?"
In the plot, léon and his troupe find the dwelling cave of the precursors expecting them to just grant a wish to set things back to normal are instead faced with stubborn entities that refuse to even speak with them, knowing exactly what they want and not giving it, and when finally coaxed just end up being insulted by the dry wit of the aïeux
Another thing about them, is that they are very well aware that they are meant to be subversions which is why they are so hammy about their nature being reading the newspaper, lounging, pipe smoking, reading and arguing philosophy about meaningless things, they want to act hammy despite my wishes for them to actually be serious
As per usual I am open to questions, criticism, and feedback

Mine is a megacorp called Samuel Family Corporation, or SamCo. SamCo, unlike other megacorps, wasn’t a purely a PMC and arms manufacturer. They were a titan of industrial output and efficient approach to resource extraction. At its peak, SamCo was both a mining conglomerate and a manufacturer of most necessities, allowing themselves the ability to aggressively expand well beyond what we would call reasonable. They would eventually discover a mysterious rift in 2108, which led to a fantasy land known as Aegisiro. This would end up becoming the biggest investment for the company, as Aegisiro was rich in natural resources that were starting to dwindle, such as stone, timber, metals, and oil. Their expansion was incredibly aggressive and efficient as SamCo had arrived in Aegisiro long before any of its corporate rivals, and any attempts for the native tribes and kingdoms to fight back against them were swiftly put down because of how much farther ahead SamCo was in terms of technology. Eventually SamCo would desecrate a shrine belonging to a primordial spirit known as Makthun, which resulted in mana crystals forcing their way from the planet core to the surface. After learning that these crystals were not just energy sources, but also a miracle material that could be shaped any way they wanted, even being able to make real food, SamCo was emboldened from mere resource extraction and discovery to straight up conquest and expansion. Eventually however, many different factors would lead to the downfall of SamCo, such as labor riots, mutiny, and the fact that the native races and kingdoms were both starting to use the mana crystals to supercharge their magic and began utilizing SamCo’s own weapons against them. Eventually the cost to maintain their holdings were too high compared to the projected profits, so the call was made. Cut and Run. SamCo would close the rift that they took to Aegisiro, leaving behind all assets that they brought and leaving all their personnel to die. The last true battle against SamCo took place at the Jackson Industrial complex, and even then many of the soldiers that had fought for SamCo chose to surrender than fight, as they knew they’d been left for dead and acting without orders just wasn’t worth it.
It was a victory for Aegisiro and her people, but the scars SamCo left behind can still be seen. Many soldiers who are still alive can recall the horrors of fighting against such a force, Mana Crystals still can be found almost everywhere. And then there’s the Deadlands, the official name given to the territory SamCo had abandoned. Should you venture there, it want be long until you come across something with a SamCo logo or advertising. They were truly everywhere. Posters, billboards, weapon ads, propaganda, trash cans, mining equipment, guns, uniforms, armor, planes, warships, APCs, mining cities, factories, mech suits, power plants, even entire military complexes hidden in the mountains are still being discovered. Even all these years later where the only residents are hostile wildlife or bandits, everything is still emblazoned with SamCo’s logo. SamCo’s guns, though illegal to own within certain regions, are still highly sought after by mercenary adventurers and nobility, for their ergonomic design and ease of use.

(For Th’zoitrk, a semi-sci-fi worldbuilding project.)
Keisoya is the second smallest of the gas giants. It is the 13th planet in the solar system, and the innermost of all the gaseous planets.
It is the only planet other than Th’zoitrk itself which has rings clearly visible from the surface of Th’zoitrk.
From the surface of Th’zoitrk, the majority of the outer worlds in the solar system are practically invisible without a good telescope.
There are only two gas giants visible from the surface of Th’zoitrk with the naked eye. Sh’beso, the largest true planet in the entire solar system, and Keisoya.
Despite Keisoya’s small size (for a gas giant), it is the largest apparent outer world in Th’zoitrk’s night sky simply due to proximity.
Keisoya orbits at 2.8 AU from Okott (the sun), just over half the distance Sh’beso orbits at. Because of this, Keisoya appears just a little over 20% larger then Sh’beso in the night sky.
Keisoya has an equatorial diameter of 79,949km, and sits at roughly 40 earth masses. This makes Keisoya just over half the size of Jupiter, and just under half the mass of Saturn.
Keisoya’s apparent 'surface' gravity at the planet’s upper cloud tops is 1.02 G’s, almost identical to that of earth.
Keisoya is largely composed of similar constituent materials to the worlds Neptune and Uranus in Earth’s solar system, made up of roughly 74% hydrogen, 23% helium, and a remainder 3% largely comprised of methane, ammonia, and water vapor.
With its relatively small size and old age (\~6.2 billion years old, believed to be the first planet to form from the proto-planetary disk), Keisoya has assuredly lost virtually all of its latent heat from its original formation.
However, Keisoya is not a cold and dead world just yet. At 1.05 AU, there’s Donyon, a \~3 earth-mass super-earth terrestrial planet tugging Keisoya inward. At 4.7 AU, Sh’beso’s 148 earth-mass behemoth of a gravity well tugs Keisoya outward.
The tug of war between Donyon and Sh’beso create mild yet noticeable tidal flexing inside Keisoya, keeping the gas giant perpetually heated.
Deep inside Keisoya is a supercritical ocean of liquid methane, ammonia, and water. Tidal flexing heats this supercritical ocean, which wants to evaporate into a gas yet is continuously crushed down and kept compressed as a liquid from the thousands of kilometers of gas above it.
This behaves similarly to volcanos on earth. Pressure slowly builds, and builds, and builds, until the liquids of this supercritical ocean overpower the weight of the gas compressing them from above, and evaporate.
These gases shoot upwards at hundreds to thousands of km/h, eventually reaching the upper cloud tops of Keisoya where they shoot out and flash-freeze into the vacuum of space, forming massive arcs of frozen water, ammonia, and methane ice which eventually rain back down into the planet’s atmosphere or, on occasion, get stuck in orbit around the planet (this is how Keisoya’s rings are formed, from the buildup of geyser ejecta flung into orbit.)
Each geyser arc tends to range from 10,000-30,000 kilometers in height (for reference, planet Earth is 12,756 kilometers across.)
On the night side of Keisoya, the base of these arcs create small lit-up regions as white-hot gases burst through the upper atmosphere before freezing into ice.
Some geysers don’t gather enough energy to fully eject up high over the planet, and remain in the upper atmosphere. Here, these ices form snow clouds which get stretched into long, yellow smudges in the upper atmosphere, pulled and pushed along by Keisoya’s incredibly fast winds, which are capable of reaching speeds as high as Mach 4.2. Firmly placing Keisoya as the world with the fastest wind speeds in the solar system.
Keisoya is the single least studied of all the gas giants. It is the only gas giant to have received a grand total zero dedicated missions sent to it. It has never been visited by any spacecraft; and currently, no nation has any plans to send a mission to Keisoya anytime soon.

You know the Future Look (tm) where everything is white and grey, sometimes with some manicured plants. It's a cool enough vibe but I'm a bit tired of it, and want to design stuff (primarily cities and interiors) that feels futuristic while still looking like humans want to live there.
I'm thinking of trying to incorporate more colours and green spaces, but I want to get opinions on other ways to make a place feel comfortable to live in while still looking futuristic. Preferably I'd like the designs to feel unique enough. The setting itself is inspired by 20th century star trek media.

I’m making an Element System for a card game and I’ve come up with most of the elements
🔴 - Fire
🟠 - ???
🟡 - Aether/Spirit
🟢 - Earth
🔵 - Water
🟣 - Dark/Void
The Elements also fit into my “Counter Wheel.”
Water -> Fire -> Earth -> Aether -> Dark
The problem with my current system is that it’s basically just the Magic: the Gathering Mana Wheel. I want to make it a bit more unique. The new element would have to fit between to elements (able to be countered and counter another element). Any ideas are appreciated!

A very long time ago, in a place no one you know has ever seen or heard of, there had been a blazing sun known as Ishat, "the blazing one". In its orbit were seven planets and thousands of moons, all of them barren and lifeless under the sun's immense heat—all but a small desert world known as Aret.
Though Aret was alike to its sister worlds in terms of surface water, its subterranean streams allowed it to be home to several kingdoms of life who lived in its soil, aquifers/streams, and on its surface, the latter of which is notably home to the planet's "people", which are similar to modern humans in most ways, though they tend to be leaner and are partially nocturnal.
Aret's more habitable regions were divided into hundreds of city states of varying sizes, most notable of which was called Haishat, in which builders constructed towers and palaces that rose far beyond the desert floor, reaching closer to Ishat, whom they worshipped as their principal deity. In this land, the ruler held his throne upon a plateau in the highest hall of the tallest tower, being considered the mortal closest to God. As such, its royalty were believed to have been blessed by the gods, having a rare shade of golden eyes that doesn't seem to fade over the generations, unparalleled beauty, and, according to some, supernatural powers such as the touch of death and the ability to dream of things that have yet to come to pass.
In their culture, it is typical for people to kneel to the king as he speaks the words that were spoken to him by their patron god. Values such as politeness and piety were of exceptional importance in the sun kingdom, and, as to survive the desert, all clothes were made with hoods, which were also worn during occasions such as formal education and visits to the royal court, though it was common for many people to wear them in public most of the time.
Other notable settlements on Aret include Uris, which was located alongside an exposed part of a major aquifer and as such was able to cultivate a large amount of crops beneath the soil, and Kishet, which was an expanding military and political power several hours east of the city.
I'm only just developing this but honestly am interested in people's thoughts on the central idea. Feel free to ask me anything. ✨

TLDR: I have been trying in vein for months to settle on a name for a vampirism-causing-retrovirus to fit in with the kind of mundane magic thing I’ve got going on in my worldbuild.
Short story long: I’m having a very hard time figuring out what to name the source of vampirism in my worldbuild and need a second set of opinions on it, bc my more sciencey cowriter is more into space-based science/sci-fi than earth/human biology like I am 😅
In-universe almost all magic can be explained with real science or just is a natural part of the science in-universe when I can’t, especially vampires which have very mundane explanations as to why they act the way they do (exposure to sun is due to UV sensitivity, need for blood & aversion to garlic is due to them being almost exclusively sanguivorus etc etc)
My main issue is finding a name for the retrovirus that triggers the transformation from human to vampire!
My vampires are split into 2 categories with 2 subcategories, Lethal (sanguivores but tend to be opportunistic carnivores, as their barbed fangs make it hard to unlatch from prey) and Nonlethal (obligate sanguivores who can’t digest anything but blood with smaller, smooth fangs & the use of a clotting venom injected post-bite), with the subcategories of contagious and noncontagious (which is just whether or not they carry the vampire retrovirus which relies on almost every human having a little bit of inactive latent vampire dna in their own),
Ok blabber over time for the actual info on the virus:
The idea is that the virus will reconnect or reactivate that latent vampire DNA and, like HRT in humans, over a short-ish very painful period of time, cause the body to develop the necessary structures and whatnot to make humans into vampires.
It doesn’t necessarily change their species & they are somewhat pseudo-vampires, where they are basically the same in all ways but human-turned vampires can still eat any kind of food for a while after turning and tend to be missing a structure or two due to the incomplete DNA
The process is slow-ish but usually takes about a month for the structures to be developed, and can take years for turned-vampires to become completely sanguivores.
That’s all I have so far but I’m always open to adjusting things or making it more in-depth to seem more feasible
The name does not have to be perfect as in-universe it’s not properly studied but was “discovered” and named by a small, online group of researchers who specialize in “supernatural” science
I’ve already floated around not giving it a scientific name at all which is boring, Trans-species something or other Virus which sounds clunky and stupid & isn’t exactly correct, & just calling it the vampire virus which is also boring.
Any suggestions or pointers towards a big list of prefixes and suffixes used in naming viruses would be handy since I’m having a hard time finding any on my own.
I’m always open to talk abt the vampires more if it helps, questions help me come up with answers I hadn’t thought were important!
Ty in advance!
