I got stopped at St Luke's mall today by a man who told me I looked totally relaxed but he is trained to read people and he can tell that my mind is racing

I told him no..it's not racing (very slow day up here actually) and he carries on telling me he knows how to read people and he is a hypnotist

My yellow male budgie has escaped from his backyard aviary in Herbert Road, EPSOM today, 18 October 2026.

He normally stays inside his aviary and hasn't flown around much, so we are very worried about him. His female partner is still at home, and we desperately want to bring him back safely.

Hello! My husband and I are in our mid 30s and just moved to Pukekohe from the states (Portland Oregon) I’m half kiwi but finding living here as an adult a huge transition for me and really quite lonely. So many things are amazing here (we came to escape our own government…) but it’s been a bit hard! If there is anyone in the area that would be up for grabbing a coffee (my husband loves tea too), nature walks, horse related activities (I love to ride) or general community building would love to connect! We landed in Pukekohe just to get our feet on the ground but also really open and excited about exploring all over too if you want to show us your own town.

Feeling a bit vulnerable with how much of a hard time I’m having so please be kind.

On 9 January 2026, Sid was taken from us and dumped by our neighbour. We haven’t seen him since.

He had his GPS collar removed and dumped at the end of our street.

Sid was allegedly driven to ARC North Vet Hospital that morning, then dumped after at Weza Lane, Kumeū.

We fear the worst, but we won’t give up on him.

Last night after dropping my coworker off after work, around 23:00, a car was following me really closely on Symonds Street. I didn’t see it was a police car until later due to the lighting.

I thought the speed for the whole street was 30km/h, so I was doing that and they were less than a meter behind me. Then the police drove into the bus lane and began going 50-60km/hr. But all the lights were turning red so they didn’t gain any time on me. This continued for more than 200m.

We pull up to a red light and I roll down my window. I asked if it was 30km/h and the policeman said yes. I was so confused. Are they allowed to do this? They didn’t have any lights on or seem to be in a rush, just cruising and patrolling. Before I realised they were police I was going to cuss them out lol.

4 songs in, apparent technical issues, no songs since. Total fizzer? Guess we’ll wait and see……

I keep seeing so many drivers flying Tongan and Samoan flags from their cars. It’s ridiculously stupid and dangerous. I literally saw multiple cars with flags and poles sticking out on the highway. I bet it won’t be banned until someone gets impaled by one while driving on the highway.

Love the people screaming “racism” or calling me a killjoy because “it’s just a piece of fabric.” You forget that these large flags are often being held up by metal or wooden poles, and at 100 km/h, they’re pretty dangerous if they come loose, especially when they’re being held by someone or secured with tape... There are ways to celebrate safely with smaller flags or without sticking massive ones to cars.

On the 29th of July on my way home from uni, i received a fine notice on my windshield for a expired rego in the park-and-ride carpark. Immediately, the next day, I paid the fine and renewed my rego expecting it to be a one-time occurance.

However, six to seven weeks later, I get a letter in the mail of a reminder notice for the same expired rego issue. I rung them up only for them to tell me it was a new fine for another day that I had not previously known about. I tried to dispute it however AT rejected my claim stating that they can serve notice anyhow and it does not need to appear on my windshield. Currently, my options are take them to court or pay the fine.

I don’t know how strong my argument is since i’m arguing on a fair grounds basis where if i had previously known or been informed of that fine the issue would have been corrected avoiding me the other fine.
I feel as if i have a weak argument. Thoughts?
