AMA AMA with photojournalist Marharyta Fal, who has reported from some of the hottest spots on Ukraine’s front: Kostiantynivka, Druzhkivka, Dobropillia and Kramatorsk

On Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. Kyiv time (5 p.m. London, noon ET, 9 a.m. Portland, 1 a.m. Friday in Tokyo, 3 a.m. Friday in Sydney), Frontliner photojournalist Marharyta Fal will join r/Ukraine for an AMA. Post your questions here ahead of time or join us live.
“When I cover the war, I’m just trying to cope with reality and be useful. It’s my way of recording a shared experience -- for those who have already seen the wreckage of their own homes, and for those who still see the world only through a screen.”
Marharyta has reported on Russia’s blockade of occupied Oleshky and on aerial bomb attacks on Kramatorsk. She has also reported from Kostiantynivka, and walked into Druzhkivka and Dobropillia alongside Ukrainian troops.
- A fresh grave behind the house: Line of contact nears Dobropillia, city isolated
- Next after Kostiantynivka: Industrial Druzhkivka is no longer the rear
- Armor shortages, blocked routes, and conscription risks – the challenges of evacuation under fire (Kostiantynivka)
- Ten minutes to rescue from the rubble: Russians attack residential buildings in Kramatorsk with aerial bombs
- ‘No one knows whose skull this is’: Russia’s blockade starves occupied Oleshky (warning: graphic content)

News Starlink Restrictions Are 'Planned Operation', Says Ukraine's Zelensky
r/ukraine • u/neonpurplestar • 11h ago
News Polish PM Tusk: Everyone was aware that, with this shift in President Trump's position on Ukraine and Russia, Europe should support Ukraine even more. Many countries realize that if Ukraine falls, we will all have very, very serious problems. 17 Oct 2026
There has never been such a unified position among practically all EU countries. Even those who are less pro-Ukrainian,who sometimes show signs of weakness toward Putin, had no doubts that the next several months will be crucial, perhaps not only for the history and future of Ukraine, but for the whole of Europe. Everyone expects an increase in Russian escalation and provocations on a larger scale.

News Zelenskyy tells reporters over WhatsApp that restrictions on Ukraine's Starlink systems remain. Interceptor drones can't function, logistics and operations hobbled. The maximum speed is 161 kph;
"exceeding this limit causes the Starlink connection to cut out completely, resulting in the loss of the drone."
︀︀He says Ukraine has done tests to determine whether SpaceX is truly facing technical issues, as has been told Kyiv by the US side, or if this is a "deliberate operation. to restrict us, cut us off, and prevent us from defending ourselves and protecting our people, both at the front and among the civilian population."
︀︀He says Ukraine "sent a couple of vehicles equipped with Starlink terminals into European Union territory."
︀︀
︀︀"They moved at speeds exceeding 180kph, and the Starlink systems worked perfectly. We have the relevant logs and evidence to prove this."
He adds: "The conclusion is clear: the restrictions are in effect within Ukraine but do not apply within the European Union. In other words, this is a planned operation."

"Russians didn’t come in peace. It’s very easy to say ‘give up Donetsk, give up Luhansk.’ It’s your home you’re giving up. Russia won’t stop. We have to stop it” -"Terra"
“Terra” serves in the 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade as drone interceptor. Before the full-scale invasion, she was a videographer in Lviv, working in advertising and social media, but originally she is from Luhansk.

7 KILOMETERS ON AN ELECTRIC SCOOTER WITH A SEVERED LEG: AN INCREDIBLE RESCUE STORY OF A UKRAINIAN SOLDIER
- During an assault on enemy positions, a Ukrainian soldier engaged in close-quarters combat and eliminated an occupier, but sustained a severe injury himself. Due to significant blood loss, he would lose consciousness every time he tried to stand up.
- An electric scooter became his only chance to escape. The command of the code__9.2 unit delivered the scooter using a heavy-lift drone. Despite his injury, the soldier covered 17 kilometers, reaching speeds of up to 52 km/h.
- Throughout the journey, he was covered by Ukrainian FPV drones, while fiber-optic cables kept getting tangled in the scooter’s wheels, complicating the evacuation. • Ultimately, the soldier managed to reach a location where a fellow soldier picked him up by car.
- "I’m glad I’m still alive," says the defender.
