I remember meeting The Old Nite, probably about 20 years ago; right outside of Port Sarim.
I said hello and he stopped for a few moments to say hi back. I remember just being 12 and having a nerdgasm, telling him how I thought he was so much cooler/better than Zezima.. but he was very humble and defended Zezima as the true rank one. (Despite saying he beat Zezima in the duel arena once or twice haha)
He didn’t stay long before teleporting away - but I’ll never EVER forget that brief ~30 second interaction.
To this day, every time I see the statue near black chins, I always stop for a moment to examine it.
“This person was of great importance.”
Indeed they were, my old friend. Indeed they were…

I saw The Old Nite at a grocery store back in 2005. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face.
I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

lol, man, I met The Old Nite in Seers Village back in RSC. I had no fucking idea what I was doing, but I remember I had a .tk "fan site" and I "interviewed him" to put it up there. I was so proud. I remember him telling me his favorite monster was "KBD" and I had no idea what that meant at the time. I had to be 12 at most man.
It's so wild how these people become psuedo-celebs and we remember the interactions warmly decades later. I've never seen a single bad word written about this guy.

Also have an old nite story, sold him dragonbones back in the day for money and he also bought my unids for 1k each even though he knew the ranarrs weren’t in there he just didn’t care and was helping out a noob. It got me my first glory with charges which was huge back then. Such a legend.

Every single recommended video on YT has a dropdown where you can click 'Don't recommend channel' but unfortunately it just doesn't work sometimes. Maybe a solid 3/4 of the time it'll work fine and in other cases I can click it, hit refresh and immediately be served the same creator or even the same video.

OSRS youtube is so weird. If you check out twitch you see high level pvmers, skillers, pkers. People are extremely knowledgeable about the game, they play insane amount of hours and it makes sense that these top 1% players are the ones making content.
Youtube is different, these people seem legit average in their pvm skill, often way below average. They play mostly mains and even as guide makers have very little game knowledge so they make mistakes. They barely even play the game, these youtubers make me question if they even like the game.

I imagine most of the money in OSRS Youtube is made by putting out guides as early as possible, so it favors very low effort, often inaccurate guides from people who have barely interacted with the content yet (if at all)
People see new boss dropped, search for a guide, whichever one gets posted first is viewed and then remains the top guide forever because it has the most views. So the top OSRS Youtubers are people like Theoatrix who makes tons of guides for stuff they know nothing about
if you actually take the time to grind the boss and learn it's mechanics before making a guide, your video goes unnoticed (unless you're already a popular creator)

I saw his guides rely on, but I quickly realized after a video or 2 that it was basically just the wiki word for word. He got a lot of crap for doing this, because on his website a lot of it was nearly exactly the same on the wiki. The OSRS wiki team proved he copied them after he had the audacity to say the OSRS wiki copied theotrax website.
I dont know the full story, but I will say there was a few things I read on wiki but was still confused, so I'd watch his video. But mainly I'd use other YouTubers, it was mainly late game quests id get stuck on or something like that

People say that his content is low effort, but he at the very least makes the wiki more readable and organized, and makes the videos that are actually helpful, sure you won't make the top 1 most efficient xp/hr or gp/hr but those guides are usefull for new people like me

Saw Zezima in Falador about 20 years ago. Casually strolled through the town and got crowded by what seemed like 100+ people. Might have said something I can’t remember but he either logged or changed worlds shortly after. After seeing it for myself I began to think about how impossible it was for him to go anywhere in the game at that point without being bombarded.
