Troubleshooting My Mom Needs Help with This.

Post image

My mom asked me to make a post asking for help with her 3d printer. I don't know much about it myself so if you have any questions I can relay them to her and reply.

My mom has a Bamboo labs X2D. She's using Bamboolabs transparent real PLA. Temps were the Bamboolabs automatic settings. Outer wall 50 inner walls 200. She was using Bamboolab software.

Used glue stick on the bed because we were having adhesion problems. First couple of layers were fine, walked away, came back hours later, was a 55 minute print, bamboolabs said it was completely, only to return to see this. How can I get this off? Can I heat the nozel independently to pull it off?

You don’t need a glue stick for normal filaments with modern printers. Heat up the nozzle and clean it off carefully.

Also lord. It’s bambulabs.

She was having trouble with the prints sticking previously, that's why she used glue. Thank you.

and I'm sorry, she didn't tell me how to spell it. I'm not into these kinds of things, I just wanted to help her. 🙁

Yeah that’s a settings issue and without those, we can’t say why it happened.

Here are a few questions that might be helpful

  • What printer are you using?

  • What material are you using?

  • What speed are you printing at?

  • What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer?

  • When did the problem start/has it ever worked correctly?

  • Does anything cause the behavior to change?

  • If posting an image of the problem, include some indication of the orientation it printed at, preferably photograph it on the bed. (Then we can focus on a specific axis)

Heat up the nozzle to about 65 degrees and let it rest so it's all nice and warm. Then pull, not to hard but slowly and gently take it off. You might be lucky that it's not really sticking to any components around it.

Heat the nozzle up and pull off as much as you can. You probably need to buy a new nozzle, but you probably dont need to replace anything else. Use a hair dryer to get off anything that doesnt loosen after heating the nozzle.

Also you need to wash the bed with dishsoap and water. You have adhesion problems because someone has been touching the build plate with their fingers and not washing the plate. The oils from your fingers prevent the filament from sticking to the plate.
