If you read the article it says that immigration was 1% pre-Trudeau and it was 3% during Trudeau. Now it’s 0.7% and they want to increase it by 0.3% to the original 1%. These motherfuckers can’t read.

Now if they wanna debate if even that 1% is needed, that’s a whole thing. But genuine lack of reading comprehension. They see a title and get outraged. If they put that effort into getting married and having kids, Canada wouldn’t need immigrants to fund their elderly.

The issue is that housing and social service infrastructure and unemployment needs to stabilize to correct for that 3% growth before we can even get back to the appropriate 1% trajectory.

Honestly we need to stabilize population before we talk about revorting back to past immigration numbers.

Canada has had a major increase in its population this decade and now risks having large populations of undocumented workers. Furthermore, due to economic uncertainty, companies have reduced hiring. Further immigration, even at lower levels will lead to continued wage stagnation and higher home & rent prices.

I am not saying to eliminate immigration all together. There are sectors that could benefit from immigration like health care, but first we nedd to ensure our licensing system is updated to recognize foreign credentials

Sounds like rightist fear mongering. A small, controlled increase while temporary migration remains at restricted level.
