Description: There's a fort on a hill and a lake to walk to. The villagers go about their own days; say hello and some of them will ask you a small favour. Stop wherever the view is good and sketch it. Night falls, rain sets in and clears again, and the music and every sound are made in code as you walk.

Half an hour is enough to see the main sights. After that the land is still there whenever you want a calm walk, and each seed builds a different world.

- The whole game is one HTML file of about 1 MB (1,017 KB). No images, no engine, no downloads.

- The world is 2 x 2 km. Walking straight across takes about 8 minutes.

- Every frame is around 40,000 letters, drawn from 28 characters in 617 colours.

- 32 kinds of sound and 3 music tracks, all made in code as you play. There isn't a single recording.

- The default world has nearly 12,000 trees, 58 villagers, 255 animals and 59 buildings.

- The villagers have 329 lines of dialogue between them.

- 27,000 lines of code, with no libraries.

Hi everyone!

I have a simple logo that I'd like to convert into ASCII art and send via SMS, along with a short message, in the style of old-school text-based advertising.

My goal is to create something that looks good, remains recognizable, and displays correctly on as many devices as possible, especially Android and iOS smartphones.

I'm having a few issues:

• The ASCII art looks fine in Notepad, but the spacing and alignment often break when I paste it into Facebook or other social media platforms.
• I'm not sure which characters are safest to use for compatibility across different devices and messaging apps.
• I'd like to know how to generate clean ASCII art from my logo and test how it will actually look before sending it.

What's the best workflow for creating reliable, cross-platform ASCII art? Are there any recommended tools, formatting techniques, or ways to test the result across different phones and messaging apps?

Hi! Terrascope is an open-source terminal map with live weather, aircraft, radar, earthquakes, and day/night views. It uses Unicode Braille characters to render the map right in your terminal.

Lite Engine is a raycasting game engine designed for FPS games.

I was inspired by Wolfenstein 3D and its raycasting engine. I decided to create my own engine with a similar approach, but instead of rendering pixels normally, it renders the entire game directly in the Windows console, using the █ character as a pixel.

Development started around 5 months ago. The current version (Lite Engine 0.1.8.1), supports simple geometry and different types of entities, including enemies, medkits, ammo, collectibles, and more.

Version-0.1.8.0 added support for custom asset archives (.LED). These archives can store map files, ASCII sprites, and definitions for entities and weapons. You can create and edit them using Lade, my LED editor.

Asciimood is a free Claude Code plugin: while Claude thinks, reads, writes or runs commands, the window fills with a looping ASCII animation. This one is a gull, head-on, gliding then beating its wings. All drawn in code, no images.

For one of my classes I need to create a race of sorts based throwing a d6 against a computer, already finished the race part but I need to use ascii art to create a dice rolling animation, however I havent been able to find a dice rolling ascii, and I dont want to resort to ai so I wanted to know if anyone can pass some simple ascii art of a dice rolling or guide me as to where I can get it, thanks in advance!!!

Hey everyone, I liked the ASCII/CRT effects on the Xbox Labs website and wanted to play around with them using my own footage, so I reverse-engineered the renderer and built a little studio around it.

You can drop in a video or image, choose a preset, and mess with character density, colors, contrast, phosphor trails, glitches, scanlines and bloom. The cursor leaves trails through the picture, and clicking makes little character explosions.

One cool detail from the Labs renderer: it matches characters to shapes inside each frame, rather than choosing them only by brightness. That helps edges and contours survive the conversion.

You can save presets, export images and videos, and make Telegram GIFs or video stickers with dedicated export options. Everything runs in your browser, so your files stay on your device.

It started as a weekend joke and got out of hand.

pikap picks up whatever's playing (Spotify, a browser tab, mpv) and puts the cover on a spinning record. In the video it grabbed a YouTube tab, so Linus is on the vinyl. Not planned, but I'm keeping it.

You can drag the record to scrub, or drop the needle wherever you want. If you give it your own files, pausing actually slows the sound down and dragging scratches it.

It can draw in half blocks, in ASCII, or as a real picture if your terminal supports it. Written in Go.

Multiplayer, browser-based, ASCII-rendered, survival/building/towny game! I've always loved the ASCII-aesthetic and I think this shaded style still evokes the same appeal while remaining a little more visually understandable (something ASCII-games can struggle with).

Could really use some feedback at this early stage, not sure if the game really works or if the art style gets in the way. Also has some original music from me I'd love feedback on!
