I'm just getting into watches and so far I own a Seiko SNE529P1 (in the last picture), which has solar quartz, sapphire and an amazing blue sunburst dial. The only thing is that it is more on the fancy/dressier side of watches, which feels a little overdressed on jeans-and-tshirt-days.
That's why I'm looking for a more casual field watch. My search strongly leads towards Timex, since they seem to offer good value for money. I'm looking for sapphire glass and some WR-rating. In the pictures is my short-list, all have sapphire glass and 100/200M WR.
- Boderry Voyager (A11T-01NG-1) at 40 mm. This one has automatic movement (NH35) and a titanium case.
- Timex Expedition Titanium (TW2W78100) at 38 mm. This one has quartz movement and a titanium case.
- Timex Expedition Field Post Solar (TW2V00400) at 36 mm. This one has solar quartz movement and a stainless steel case.
- Timex Expedition Field Post Solar (TW2V03700) at 41 mm. This one has solar quartz movement and a stainless steel case.
Apart from the looks, the difference is in the movement (automatic vs. quartz vs. solar), the case material (titanium vs. stainless steel) and the sizing, ranging from 36 mm - 41 mm (I have a wrist circumference of 165 mm).
Where would you go - in my situation - for a nice daily field watch?
