... Isn't the referendum really a very expensive IQ test for the province?

Since lying is all you need as proof of anything, I say lean 120% into it.
The UCP had the right idea, we're going to double everything they were doing, cuz we could always do more of that.
The UCP banned 70 books? We're going to ban 140. We're going to get those sick books out of our children's hands and prevent them from getting terrible and disgusting ideas.
Then make a 170 book list of arbitrary and not real books.
See? We are doing such good work we did even MORE than double the banned books.
The UCP is too gay to have made the northern train corridor. We're going to get oil, and work to the north. There will be an Ikea in every town!
We're going to work with the CPC to MAKE those rotten liberals in Ottawa pay for our train system.
We're going to give those lazy leeches with disabilities exactly what they deserve, hohoho you bet they will.
Then fund AISH properly and give people dignity.
Those teachers are doing such woke shit with our children. We're going to put money into education and get REAL teachers into this province. Our children will finally get the education those liberals in Ottawa never wanted us to get.
EUROPE laughs at our healthcare system. They mock us and claim we have no doctors and we have to sell body parts to fund our children's trans conversion sequencers! We're going to show them we mean business with a range of new Cat scanners, Canadian made gamma radiation cancer machines, and doctors that won't push that woke nonsense, they'll do the real work doctors used to do.
Then fund an internationally acclaimed medical system.
I'm sold.
Edit: Auto correct errors.

Hi everyone,
It occurred to me that we don’t have a dedicated thread for discussion about referendum day events. How are things going in your community today? Is voting smooth? Are there lineups at specific locations? Are there people talking to each other a lot? What are you hearing on the news? Are there demonstrations? Are people wearing Alberta or Canada swag? Are there any controversial things happening on social media?
I voted already and I voted yes to Canada and no to the nine. I will be glued to media all day.

How we gonna fend for ourselves if we become independent? Think about it. We'd just make ourselves vulnerable next to a place with a president that would 70% take us and make us the 51st state. I know Carney aint the most popular around here, but would you rather Trump? Think, guys.

Nenshi running into Bonnie Critchley in the front row was a fun Alberta lore moment, good to see her out. Their interaction was a lot of fun, I'm meh on Nenshi but he was genuinely having a good time and I love to see that.
Speakers were all similar and on point. GET OUT AND VOTE! This is bigger than us and our generations, long term consequences for apathy await. Your vote matters.
I did have to dissociate from being in a large crowd for awhile so I did some batch counting of the upper bowl seats and likely botched counting of the floor. My estimate on attendance was 6000 to a max of 8000.
Security was thorough and visible which is excellent in these times. From what I saw 2-4 people were ejected for yelling during quiet moments in a section of speech about Veterans. The nature of the yelling was impossible to determine for me but they got yoinked for sure. One person behind me yelled "no more pipelines"... Directly before the Prime Minister spoke with excitement about our plans for new pipelines. Mildly awkward moment for them, not sure they got yoinked or not.
Overall an encouraging and entirely overwhelming experience, nearly slept on the packed train home.

Curious about what life is like there? Quality of life? Specific hardships or annoyances about your province or city. What's the deal with politics? Do people not want to be apart of Canada? Why? What about sports? What do people do for fun? Do people party? What do people eat? What's good/ what sucks? What do I need to know?

It is not the same as voting no and may have unintended effect...
From Perplexity:
"Practical effect
Because results are decided by valid votes cast, a blank or spoiled ballot reduces the number of votes available to either side on that question. It is not equivalent to voting “No,” and it is not equivalent to staying home: it is recorded as participation with no valid choice on that question.elections.ab+1
For example, if a question receives 100 valid Yes votes, 90 valid No votes, and 20 blank/spoiled ballots, the result is Yes 100, No 90; the 20 invalid/blank ballots do not offset the Yes total.elections.ab
Mark the ballot clearly for the “No” option (or the option you oppose, depending on the question’s wording), following the instructions on that ballot. Do not leave it blank, cross it out, or add extra marks if your intention is to cast a No vote. Elections Alberta advises voters to read the questions in advance and decide how they wish to vote.elections.ab"

7 Canadian soldiers dead and he’s more concerned about the skin colour of a fast food worker. This is mind of the average seppie.
