How do I become an Ann Arbor tailgating Professional

I’m a new local. Moved here from the woods up north. Being from up north, us hillbillies have all the fixins to set up a proper tailgate. RV camper, generator, traeger, outdoor kitchen the works etc..

Teach me the proper ways. Who what where when why. What lot, what pass, worth it for expensive tickets or nah. What’s the lowdown.

I have a three year old boy and want to establish a lifelong tradition of tailgating and going to the game. I want to do it right. What’s the absolute best of the best.

Come on seasoned veterans what’s the pro tips?!?

Michigan Medicine Primary Care Physician Appointment Availability

Is it typical to schedule out 6+ months to see your Michigan Medicine PCP?

Just realized I have a scheduling conflict on the day of my yearly physical exam so I went to reschedule and the first available is May 2027. At this point, I’m considering staying back from my work conference because I have a few minor things I may need referrals for and waiting another half year seems ridiculous.

My PCP works out of the Canton office. I called to change providers a few years ago but was laughed at and told no one was accepting new patients.

I’ve been a lifelong MM patient and don’t want to move systems so I’m curious to know if this scheduling issue is specific to my PCP, Michigan Medicine, or if this is the status quo of getting healthcare these days.

Is any telecom company still building out fiber network in Ann Arbor?

I don’t see MetroNet city permits after they have been acquired. I live in a fiber desert surrounded by fiber-connected neighborhoods.

Does Anyone know the place to install a used tire on a car?

I’ve got a nail on my tire, beyond repairable. I have bought one from the used market with similar tread depths. I called some of the shops, they said they won’t replace used tire because of the store policy. Does anyone know where they change the used tires? Thanks.

Why do DTE and A2P2 both argue that the existing A2SEU is not a utility when it is one?

The Sustainable Energy Utility is trying to establish itself after being approved by voters, but both DTE and A2P2 are arguing that it is not a utility. Why would these two seemingly opposed entities be aligned? Probably because they are both trying to end-run a good concept before it gets off the ground in order to serve their respective interests, which center around control of a poorly performing and badly regulated asset: the distribution grid.

A2SEU is trying to develop the grid of the future, which is a coordinated, networked, distributed resource that reduces individual and collective reliance on an obsolete grid design that physically embodies the 20th century model for fossil-fueled, centralized generation.

Here is A2SEU's response to DTE's most recent assertions that actively try to limit A2SEU's purview: https://mi-psc.my.site.com/sfc/servlet.shepherd/version/download/068cs00002ATemWAAT

A2P2 tries to argue that they support the SEU, but their end-run of the city's existing initiative proposes to burn resources we could be using to build out and expand the SEU on litigation and bureaucracy. Instead of pushing a ballot proposal that *does* usurp elected City Council authority and burns city funds on a second study of a distribution grid purchase that still fails to define where generation would come from, how interconnection would work, and at what cost, they could be working collaboratively toward the new state regulatory construct needed to remove statutory limits on the SEU's utility design.

High Jump coaching?

Hi all, my MS daughter who loves to run discovered last year that she also loves high jumping - but it’s tricky to work on or find anyone to help her with it. Does anyone have any recommendations in the area for how she could practice high jumping or get some help with it in the winter?

PSA: Ann Arbor Police have unmarked F-150 and Wagoneer

If I got pulled over with no spotlights, by this thing I'd probably pull into a gas station with my hazards on. From the front, you'd have no idea this is a cop. This particular clown drove with his lights on to the car wash on Ellsworth with as traffic parted ways, completely oblivious they were on.

I have also seen a totally unmarked white F-150 crew cab pulling someone over on State st.

OBGYN interview

Hello, I’m reaching out on behalf of my teen daughter who would like to connect with an OBGYN for a 20-minute informational interview.

She is in a club called HOSA (future health professionals). She and her collaborator are doing an independent research project on nutritional and environmental effects on pregnant women.

Please DM me if you be available for a 20 minute Zoom interview one evening this week.

Thanks for your consideration!

Long shot- need insulin infusion set

I’m in town for the game and my son needs a new infusion set. Of course it got packed and then pulled out to reorganize and didn’t make it back in the bag. We use the iLet. If anyone has something compatible that would be very helpful. We have supplied for MDI as back up but wanted to see if we could find something here.

Sustainable hunting

I’m wanting to learn about sustainable and ethical hunting practices and wondering if anyone would be willing to give any insight/their personal experiences with that and how they further process their own meats etc. I don’t have much/any hunting experience but am keen about learning more. Not sure where to start or who to reach out to!

Mall Skincare Scams

This video by NPR popped up on my youtube feed yesterday and when I watched it I was surprised to hear Ann Arbor mentioned at the very beginning. It was about how skincare stores at malls were charging thousands of dollars to unsuspecting customers, usually after giving a "free" sample.

According to the video, there is one big company "Mazal Group" that offers products under many different names (Voupre, Orogold, etc.) and under different store names (Beauty Essentials, Beauty Revive, etc). This made me remember the time someone had stopped my mom to offer samples at Briarwood mall. Nothing happened afterwards because my mother is cautious of offering any credit card info, but when I looked back at the photos I believe this is one of the operating stores under the scam group ("Beauty Essentials").

I'm not sure if the store is still there now, but wanted to warn anyone just in case and was wondering if anyone had a similar experience.

Lost pendant (West side/ Downtown)

Post image
15 Upvotes

Yesterday (Friday 10/16) I discovered that my necklace came unclasped while I was biking from my apartment on the west side to my job near State and Huron.

The silver pendant I bought in Peru fell off somewhere along the way. It's about the size of a quarter and has the In a trinity of snake, puma, and condor. Back side is white quartz.

Route was Dexter ave- Washington- 4th- Liberty- Main- Washington- State.

Here is a photo of me wearing it at Nucleate beer fest this summer for reference. 🍻

If anyone comes across it, I'd certainly do what I can to make it worth your while (At the very least I'd be more than happy to buy you a beer or fancy coffee).

Learning to park

I am trying to improve my parking skills. Could you all recommend parking spaces that are wide enough and have some cars so I can practice. And if anyone doesn't mind teaching me, I would be more than happy! Thank you.

Gauging interest: Anyone interested in forming a side-income idea group in Ann Arbor?

I'm thinking of starting a small group of people (5-10) that meet for a few months to help each other explore ideas for making money outside of current professions. It would be free besides time commitment.

I want to form this group because I'd like a low-stakes but accountable way to work on this myself, and doing it with other people could be a fun way to do this.

Right now, I'm just gauging interest. So depending on the upvotes, comments and conversations started on this thread (plus some more thinking on my end of what I want/need), I'll do a follow up post to actually form the group.

Coffee Spot with Homemade Syrup

Looking for a coffee spot in Ann Arbor/Ypsi area that makes it’s own syrups (especially a pumpkin spice). This used to be Moonwinks but they don’t anymore. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Edit: Thank you all so much!!
