Article: Indonesia fights fire with dry ice as toxic haze spreads across region | Indonesia

Imagine mo, papasok ka ng office at ganyan ang hitsura sa labas. (I don't think it will be but humor me.) Tapos sa office gusto pa rin ng leadership sa office pa rin daw mag-trabaho.

Company alert 🚩 Did this company just use me to gather information about a competitor?

I applied for a Business Development Manager position at Filinvest Land, and here’s how the recruitment process went:

1st interview: HR - done

2nd interview: Head of Business Development - done

3rd interview: Head of Finance - done

4th interview: Business Unit Head - done

5th interview: HR Director - done

After my fourth interview, HR informed me that there would be a change in the job description, and the position would be changed from Business Development Manager to Project Development Manager. I was okay with the change since my previous role involved both business development and project development.

After my interview with the HR Director, I was told that the final interview would be with the company president.

However, after waiting for about a month and sending several follow-ups regarding the status of my application, I received no response from HR. I tried reaching out through emails, text messages, and phone calls, but they completely stopped responding.

For context, I previously worked for a competing real estate developer, so I have experience and knowledge of the industry.

At this point, I’m wondering if they were genuinely considering me for the position or if they were just trying to gather information about my previous company through the interview process.

I understand that companies can change their hiring plans or decide not to move forward with a candidate. I just find it strange that I made it through five interviews, was told that I was moving on to the final interview, and then got ghosted without any update. Three days ago, I also noticed that they posted the same position I applied for on LinkedIn.

What do you guys think? Has anyone experienced something similar? Is it possible that they were just trying to gather industry insights from me, or am I overthinking this?

Rant 😡 3 months as Asst Manager in Retail, badly want to resign due to toxic environment

3 months pa lang ako as an externally hired AM, pero badly want to resign dahil sa toxic environment. Below expectations rating sakin ng boss ko and puro negative feedback yung naririnig ko from my Manager and my team (puro parinig during working hours na buti pa daw si previous AM ganito ganyan).

I also have an upcoming reassessment with my Manager end of the month and possible na di matuloy probation ko so i'm thinking na magresign na lang. Lahat nalang napupuna ng buong team sakin kaya I'm considering resigning and requesting a shorter notice, kahit busy season. Super drained na ko.

Should i treat this as an adjustment period or di talaga ako fit? it seems like my team can't accept that a person with lesser experience than them was given the AM position that's why they don't respect me.

Rant 😡 Should I file a complaint with DOLE/NLRC over how my workplace handled a confrontation?

Hi everyone. I’m looking for advice from people familiar with Philippine labor laws, especially those who have experience with DOLE, the NLRC, or workplace grievances.

I recently had an incident at work involving a colleague, and I’m trying to understand whether I have grounds to file a formal complaint.

After my shift had already ended and I had left the workplace, I received a call from HR telling me to return because there was an “important matter” that needed to be addressed. I later understood that this was related to a report made against me by my colleague.

When I returned, my colleague and I were made to face each other and were instructed to talk things out. However, what was supposed to be a discussion escalated into shouting and what I experienced as verbal abuse. I was accused of things, insulted, and repeatedly provoked to the point that I genuinely felt the situation might become physical and that I could be hurt.

What made this more distressing was that we were left alone without management supervision while the confrontation was escalating. I understand that I also became emotional and raised my voice at certain points, and I acknowledge my own part in the disagreement. However, I don't believe that justifies leaving two employees to handle an increasingly hostile confrontation without someone present to intervene.

I was also concerned about the room itself because I was unfamiliar with its door mechanism and wasn't sure whether I could get out quickly if the situation became physically dangerous. Thankfully, no physical assault occurred, but I felt genuinely unsafe.

After the discussion, I contacted HR to say that we were done talking. I was instructed to proceed to another conference room. By that point, I was crying uncontrollably and struggling to calm down. When I tried to leave the room, I couldn't open the door myself, and an HR representative had to open it for me. I am not alleging that anyone intentionally locked me in, but given what had just happened, the experience made me even more frightened and vulnerable.

I was visibly distressed afterward, and other workplace personnel witnessed my condition. I keep thinking about how the situation was handled and whether management should have ensured that the discussion was supervised and that both employees could leave safely at any time.

There are also concerns about the time spent dealing with this matter after my shift and the transportation expenses I incurred when I was asked to return to work.

I'm at the point na hindi ko alam kung kaya ko pa bang pumasok due to the trauma. Just thinking about seeing that person makes me flinch and cry.

I am now preparing to resign and render my required notice period. However, I still want to know whether the way this incident was handled may constitute a violation of company policies, workplace safety procedures, or Philippine labor laws. I don't want to make unsupported accusations, but I also don't want the incident dismissed as merely a personal disagreement.
