Question about fruit?

Hi all. Kinda a random question, but, I've heard it said you know they're Christian by their fruit. And you can prove your a Christian by your changed life--before you knew God and how He's worked in your life after accepting Jesus as your Lord and savior. What do you say to people who grew up knowing Jesus. Not just "I was raised in the church" but the people who have known God their entire lives and maybe don't remember being saved. They have always walked with the Lord, so how do you judge the fruit of their life if there isn't a tangible before and after salvation for the person themselves?

Christian life Religious OCD and scrupulicty how did you who had it get over it?

To me religion mixes with my severe OCD and it makes my faith feel like walking down a road made of razor blades broken glass and salt to get to my deepest desires at the end. I can enjoy nothing without finding fault in it or feeling like I am doing something wrong. My art (i dont even draw anything nasty gorey or satanic etc) my hobbies EVERYTHING will feel sinful. I remember being at church once and hearing a surmon about how some people just are not good for you and guess what? I immedetly think i need to leave my GF at the time. This feels like hell sometimes.

Jesus Was Jesus still human after the resurrection?

I've always assumed the death of Jesus was the end of his human experience but I have no idea if that's at all correct. I know a point was made about him being "in the flesh" but with him appearing and disappearing multiple times after the resurrection I assumed he was no longer 100% human.

Does anyone have any insight?

Am i ready?

As a born and raised muslim, i have had doubts for some time now. Especially recently, i have found more info on Jesus and more info on Islam that i did not know.

Basically, i disagree with some things in Islam, everything from Daraba to Muhammad being the excellent rolemodel when he had intercourse with a child. (Also sex with slaves). The whole time ive been trying to reason with this, find logical answers, but at the same time growing up muslim i always wondered how a lot of the people i am related to, gets away with beating wife etc.. like until today, they are just casually living free and everyone pretends like nothing has happened.

I always had a feelings towards Christianity, especially regarding Jesus preaching love and how he is in general. Not even Islam can badmouth him or mention 1 morally wrong doing done by him.

Today i read a passage in the Gospel of Matthew where Jesus explictly say not to harm children and it caught me instantly. Somehow it just cleared my mind and my confusion, gave me a warm and light heart.. I no longer felt like i need to question and seek for explanations, because Jesus answered me in the most beautiful way possible, despite me mainly looking for answer in Islam everywhere, still Jesus answered me with 1 sentence.

I dont know what this means, but i feel like i am ready to accept Christianity as my religion, even though i feel like i just did.

Judgment after death What happens if you die before you go on to believe

I posted a variation of this earlier, but the replies were mostly focused on the extremity of the hypothetical instead of the question itself so I thought I'd rephrase:

Imagine a Christian preaches to me, and I feel really compelled and go on to believe and align myself with God. As a result, this person may have saved me and gave me a reasonable chance of reaching heaven.

But what if this lovely person hadn't done so? I would have remained in non-belief and sin, and as I understand this means I wouldn't go to heaven.

What I'm trying to understand is why my eternal fate, can be two notably different outcomes depending on the actions of an entirely different person. I'm still the same "me", but I was just exposed to two different scenarios in this case.

Are you a "proper" Christian if.. ?

  1. You view the "supernatural" events in the Bible as metaphorical, ie Jesus walking on water, Heaven & Hell, Jesus is God..

  2. You believe in science-based theories, like evolution

Note - I believe every event in the Bible is historical fact, I'm asking bc not every Christian I know feels the same. But I don't want to judge them hence my question.

Isn't a christian cheering on the apocalypse basically a christian looking around, deciding for themselves that it's time to turn off the game for everyone, and engaging in a public display of telling God to start making the world even WORSE for everyone else because they think they'll be exempt?

Like seriously, what makes Christians believe that this would ever be something that Jesus would WANT them to be throwing around, after like 2,000 years too.

The Book of Revelation is one of the most disputed canon books of scripture too, the lore behind it is quite interesting.

But yeah, it's been kind of a spiritual prion in modern times, hasn't it? The average middle class american lives better than any medieval king or queen and we have an army of.....you know whos, who still make the world worse because they'd prefer trying to force Jesus to carry them to paradise.

The logic of how this is a known social movement baffles me.

How would you reply to this atheist?

An atheist said, "Religion, at its core, is holding a belief that need not be supported by facts, reason, or logic. It is based upon faith, and that is believing something without evidence. And if you believe in things without evidence then you can justify anything. You are no longer vulnerable to someone coming back and saying 'the facts don't support your conclusion.' There is a logical progression that goes from having faith that your god tells you to do something, and doing terrible deeds in that name of that god. There are people who do terrible things, believing that they are righteous, and good, and they think they are doing the will of their god. They believe that they are doing good things, and sleep well at night, after having committed atrocities."

Church Excommunications, why do they happen?

I have a loose understanding of how it happens but can anyone give me a better explanation?

From what I understand it starts when a collective group has a disagreement with the church, or does something that the church doesn't like/allow/goes against their rules and they become a new denomination.

Is there a difference between excommunications and schisms? Or are they the same process with different names?

Does being excommunicated mean they become protestant or would they still be considered catholic or something else?

What about the recent SSPX event what happened there? I didn't hear about the conclusion to it.

Is there a list of all of these excommunicated branches?

Music Looking for christian music recommendations

Does anyone know any Christian metal bands with songs similar to Black Sabbath? I’m a huge fan of Sabbath/Ozzy and I know Ozzy was Christian I’ve known for years and obviously Black Sabbath has a few Christian songs in there discography but looking for a band that has all Christian songs in there discography but has a similar sound. because I don’t really listen to Christian music because haven’t found any I really liked other than the ones sabbath released. so thought if they sounded similar to sabbath/Ozzy I might actually enjoy listening to it. So hopefully I can find some good recommendations here.

How do I (a worldly person wanting to change) be filled with Holy Spirit / Blood of Jesus?

I (25m) was born into the cult of Jehovah's Witnesses but left as a young teenager. Since then, I've been in the world, and really before too since it was a false/twisted doctrine. I even got into occult stuff for a few years including psychedelics, manifestation, etc. Today I want to change that. I've been thinking of it for a while but been afraid and also deluding myself I enjoy it, but the truth is I've been suicidal for at least a year.

I have been watching videos such as testimonies recently. How do I become filled with Holy Spirit, the Blood of Jesus, the Spirit of Discernment, etc. like everyone talks about?

Also any tips for a new Christian starting out? Decided to quit porn today and will of course try to minimise other sins. I also struggle with polysubstance (multiple-drug) addiction, lust, bisexuality, lying and swearing mainly. But yeah any tips in terms of where to start in the Bible, preachers to listen to, how to know if a Church is really of God or not, etc. would be appreciated along with any prayers :)

Whom does God save What makes you think that you are saved?

Justify your salvation in your own personal case. What makes you think you are saved, in your own subjective state of being in this world as of the present moment.

How do you KNOW, right now, that God LITERALLY SAVED **YOU** ?

And if not, well, if you do not think you are saved, now, ok, then if you think you are not saved **now** then how do you think salvation happens in the here and now?

Head covering Biblical standpoint

In 1 Corinthians 11, talks about head coverings. Hypothetically, if a Pentecostal pastor was to tell a male to cut his long hair, but no women of the church have head coverings, what would be the accurate way to approach?!

Back story, someone was asked to be lead guitarist, but they have to cut their hair, and quit smoking.
Stand point alone, it’s an obvious thing, smoking anything is damaging to the body and not something God wants for any of us! The individual struggles with it himself! But was baffled about the hair cutting. Seeming a religious mindset, but also noting he will be in a “band” per se, and will have a look for the church. Being from a non-denominational my whole life, I’ve heard of church’s being this “strict” if you will, but never seen it til today!
Trying to get an accurate understanding!

Involve correct scriptures to the answers, all biblically based.
How?! Why?! Etc,.

Trinity Can y’all help me identify a heresy I found in a meme?

Basically, I’m scrolling instagram, and I find this meme where they had little Kelly as the Son, but they also had a separate Jesus? They had a somewhat good trinity itself, but they didn’t consider Jesus and the Son the same? I know they were just being funny, but it got me thinking, is this an actual preexisting heresy?

Marriage What are the qualifications that must be met to get a dispensation from the Bishop to issue marriage with non Christians?

I am aware that in Catholism the Bishop can give permission to wed between a Catholic and a non baptized non Christian person. The Catholics allow such marriages, and I heard that dispensation is easily granted in the US. However, I was wondering what's the qualifications I would need to pass to be accepted for a dispensation? I am curious is there a general rule or it's given based on each Bishop's personal discretion?

Jesus Jon 18:5, did the English translators err?

The scene. The Sanhedrin and Judas arrive and they are asking for Jesus of Nazareth

God says I AM

Everyone falls back like a force just smacked them

This is a clear self identification like the Exodus I AM to Moses

In the Greek John 18:5 simply reads, Ego Ami

In the vulgate, it is EGO SVM

Yet even the Dhouay Rheims which is a non-Masonic translation puts in “I am he”

Another day, another instance where sacred scripture has been diluted and diminished by the mongrel language 😭🤣

Flood/Noah How is Noah’s Flood Justified?

So I was just thinking about how unjust killing a whole population is for apparently being evil. The flood happens around 2300BCE and the estimated population at this time could be 50-70 million. I don’t see how wiping out 70 million people is justified. There’s absolutely no way Noah was the only righteous person alive at the time what about newborns?
