VIC Separation
My husband and I have been arguing for so long now....
I just can't do it anymore.
I do not work (illness) awaiting disability pension and super. No savings. The best I could do for now for accommodation would be shared in somebody's house.
My husband and I own a business. I am worried he will lock me out accounts etc if I leave.
Will Centrelink help at all in a desperate situation?
Thanks all just need to know what i can do.

If the accounts are currently authorised to be used by you and him, he can't just lock you out without forging your signature, or maybe unless he claims domestic violence. Bigger concern is if he has full access to the accounts he could extract all the money and move it to a account only he has access to

Yes - once you are separated under the one roof, you can receive Centrelink payments as a single person.

If you’re given disability then that’s what you’ll get ( approx 500 a week) even under the sane roof. You obviously have to prove you’re not claiming it if still married. You’ll be seen as independent on your own.
When you do the financial split, the financial side will be looked at and the lawyers will explain it.
Get financial aid asap.

My STBX moved out and promptly emptied the account of our life savings. All along giving me lectures about being civil and keeping lawyers out of it. It’s got so ugly as he’s now claiming it’s all his money.
I could have sworn black and blue he’d never do this.
PROTECT YOUR SELF.
Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

No, no one from the Govt is coming to save you in this situation, Your only option is to move in with friends or family. There’s a lot of people in similar situations. Good luck

If you co-own a business, get a lawyer if you are wanting to separate. They will know what to do and what rights you have if your husband takes actions like you outlined above. Given you are sick and not working, a women's legal service may be able to provide some guidance.
Also, if there is any financial abuse involved, reach out to 1-800-RESPECT (737 732) or text text 0458 737 732
