Looking for some hiking buddies around Brisbane/SEQ! There are heaps of challenging trails around here, but I don't always have people to go with.

I'm keen to tackle more Grade 5 hikes and scrambling trails. I've already done Mt Tibrogargan, Mt Maroon and Pages Pinnacle and absolutely loved them, so I'm looking for more hikes along that level.

I'm only available on weekends, happy to split fuel costs and keen to go with a small group too.

A bit about me: Just turned 26, M, originally from Southeast Asia, pretty easygoing and respectful. I'm also into other sports like soccer, archery, cycling and tennis.

Hi all! I'm not sure if any other community members have already posted about it, but the Khmer Buddhist Society of Queensland is having a community get-together to fundraise for the temple here in Marsden!

Located on Third Avenue in Marsden, our temple's the largest in the state and one of the biggest in the country - regularly hosting senior monks from overseas and standing as a pillar for the Khmer (Cambodian) people of Queensland.
Tonight we're doing a street food market with all proceeds going towards keeping the lights on and the monks fed. We've got local specialties like char-grilled beef, Cambodian baked goods, assorted veggie dishes, and regional desserts - as well as the universally loved fried chicken and chips!

If you're interested in learning more about Khmer society, culture, or (most importantly) cuisine, we'd love to have you 😁

Hi 24M here! For the past 5 years ive been going to casual volleyball on monday and its an absolutely lovely environment! Its soo welcoming and accepting of all skill levels however, the friends i typically go to the sessions with have slowly moved onto other things. Ive just come back from a lengthy rehab but i still can play pretty okay.

Was wondering whether there is anyone roughly around my age who plays volleyball and would wanna come to a monday session to see if they would like it. Its pretty chill but i am looking for someone who is competent at it. You definitely dont need to be really good but just sort of know how to play the game! Hoping to find someone to regularly come with me sort of like a volleyball buddy. Im trying really hard to find and connect with local volleyball players around my age (20+ and i dont mind about gender). But theres no pressure if you try it and its not your thing.

Just a side note i see alot of posts asking to make friends and connections and a really good way to make them is by doing social sport! They run beginner workshops as well which are super accomodating so if anyone just wants to check it out on their own ill post the link. Its super welcoming so dont be shy!!!

I have been seeing many videos online about people feeling really disconnected in Australia, like there is a barrier between people and it's even got worse after COVID. Comment sections flooded with people saying they have never felt so lonley, how there is no cultural or natural connection and struggling to make friends.

I decided to investigate myself;

As someone who has been living across different states and in Asia for the last 4 years.

I recently have been spending time in Brisbane , going to events social mixers , Thursday dating, live music and free gigs solo.

And I noticed it as well like a surface level politeness ..people talking making conversation but no one is getting really authentic real.

Its such a weird feeling the best I could describe it is like walking home and feeling like your in a dystopian movie.

An empty feeling , i cant help but go home feeling worse l almost like let down or like I have gone to a party where everyone was wearing a mask.

I never had this feeling in Asia even when I went out alone, most of the time I would be really content going home after a solo night out .

Anyone else noticed this or felt this ?

Anyone here a UFC fan? Never really into violence but came across UFC a few years ago. Been training a few different things and UFC is now just part of my life. Whether you train personally, or just watch martial arts, it’s all good. I love talking about MMA just as much as watching it. Would be nice to find some people to watch fights with.

Basketball has left a sore spot in my heart 🥲 and I no longer watch NBA. But Pickup basketball is great, shooting hoops and maybe a few games of pig/horse would be great to get along. Gaming is another part of my life. gears of war and assassins creed brought me into it. Then Minecraft with the homies during highschool. I keep these series dear to my heart, but i have expanded my games tremendously. Also realised i have a liking for single player horror games. Im team xbox all the way, but who knows? Maybe i might pick up a ps5 this Christmas.

OK, maybe 'fit' is a bit of a stretch. I'm not jacked, or a gym person, but I do the occasional triathlon or cycling event for the clout, comradery and the banana at the finish line.

I'm a gamer Dad who plays games like Star Citizen, Wardogs, some single player games and casual party games where I can cause immense chaos with friends and die laughing. Stuff like Meccha Chameleon and Super Battle Golf. They're a riot.

I've also been known to roll dice and flip cards in tabletop games, but it's been a while.

Despite being a bit of a nerd, I've also got a family including 1 wife and a 12yo son (no, I'm not looking to add to that, thank you) and they're pretty damn cool.
We do things like ice skating, gaming, short hikes together.

I can switch hobbies and study them intently quite easily. Maybe that's ADHD, or boredom, I dunno. I am also studying engineering, for work not just for fun.
