All you need to know is whatever hot take media sphere attack piece gets posted will have a billion upvoted and comments, and any serious piece of football discussion regarding the sport itself will have next to no engagement. Reality TV for men.
I thought Michigan would play better today, but is it really pure emotion to doubt a team who required a hail mary to beat Western Michigan? Like yeah, they won today and that's awesome, but people weren't doubting them "purely out of emotion."
"Every single iota of my being is telling me OU easy, but 89% of the ML is on OU and 87% of the spread is on OU and the spread is TIGHTENING to -4.5. The sharps are on Michigan. Why? I dont know but hmmm. Whenever I went with my "logical" choice I lose, so I think {Michigan} is the play. I'm goiong to look fucking stupid in hindsight but man I'm trying to get Michigan 33% on polymarket"
Neither of these teams look like ranked football teams. Both defenses are good, but the offenses are putrid.
The difference in this game was the turnovers by Oklahoma. Without those, Michigan doesn't score 10 points. The fumble let Michigan pin Oklahoma to its own goaline, defense forces a 3 and out and Michigan starts a drive from midfield that lets them get a field goal. Then the interception was 7 easy points.
Maybe if Michigan's offense stops shooting itself in the foot with penalties it could develop a rhythm and do more on its own, but the biggest issue is Underwood needs to learn how to pass the football.
Mateer didn't throw one impressive pass in that UTEP game. They were all wobbly passes to guys wide open. He's just not that good. Our O Line didn't do him any favors. I just don't understand why we were forcing passes early on when we were getting 7 yards a carry with Avant
Michigan turned in an all-time poor performance against them and WMU couldn’t even get the ball in the end zone let alone win. They’re
far far from very good.
Anyone who thought that was just as dumb as the people who thought Michigan cheated lol michigans defense wasn’t the issue and Oklahoma never had a powerhouse offense
There was someone on a thread a few days ago who was talking the old SEC > B1G argument (and I’m not arguing that here)…
… but one of their arguments was that since THEY felt Oklahoma was going to trounce Michigan, that was part of the evidence supporting their claim that the SEC is better.
Idk why. I don't HATE Oklahoma but they haven't had an offense since Lincoln left. Now they're just 2010s Iowa. Good defense, thinks the forward pass is a mistake, etc.
We're not THAT bad. It's just Mateer makes bad decisions. Texas went and got Muschamp as DC when their defense was struggling. We went and got a 30 yr old OC from a so so WSU. Granted offensive coordinator is typically a young man's game, but we probably should have sprung for a better hire.
It all comes back to Venables. Last years RRSO told me exactly what kind of head coach Venables is when he kept sending Mateer out after the game was clearly out of reach to keep throwing bombs while the Texas defense was pummeling him to the ground with multiple sacks and he had no chance to succeed. It’s pretty clear that Venables can not see the game from any other perspective than a defensive coordinator. Y’all offensive struggles and issues with injuries also leads me to believe that he just lets the defense murder the offense in camp and practice because that’s what he thinks elite play looks like when all it’s doing is hurting the offense and team as a whole.
I definitely agree with this even though I don't want to. I've had a feeling for a while that our offensive struggles are because he probably lets the defense run buck wild at practice
Note it was not OU fans doing this. We saw this beating coming as soon as Michigan underperformed last week. I've been an OU fan for way too long to think we'd come out and win a game like this.
Honestly, I can admit that Michigan deserved to lose last week, but after 7 full days of people demonizing Michigan it is absolutely hilarious that they managed to beat Oklahoma. Hopefully the haters will shut their mouths for a moment.
OKC sports radio would have you believing the championship is already in the bag and Michigan is just a warmup scrimmage on their way to their next title
