What the fuck they kept ole miss in the top 10

311

u/Radiant_Sherbert7272 Ohio State Buckeyes • Georgia Bulldogs 20d ago

Yeah that one is a bit of a head scratcher. They looked really bad yesterday.

213

u/ilacwamh Kansas State Wildcats 20d ago

They have a big win over LSU, which has to count for something. There’s a team in the top 5 that isn’t undefeated and hasn’t beaten any team with a winning record

122

u/KeThrowaweigh Ohio State Buckeyes • Maryland Terrapins 20d ago

If losing by 1 point against the new #1 drops you 5 spots, losing by 24 against the new #8 should probably drop you more than one spot.

29

u/Midweek_Sunrise Ole Miss Rebels • Missouri Tigers 20d ago

It did...it dropped us 5 spots. It doesn't hurt our case that LSU smacked the brakes off A&M. Made our win over them look better even with the loss at Florida

9

u/KeThrowaweigh Ohio State Buckeyes • Maryland Terrapins 20d ago

Oh yeah

2

u/Cador0223 Ole Miss Rebels 20d ago

If Louisville had pulled it out on wake forest, we might he 8 and Florida 7

2

u/enataca Texas Tech Red Raiders • /r/CFB Patron 20d ago

But LSU beat a team that lost to a now ranked team! They are clearly elite so the Ole Miss win against LSU still counts a ton.

u/sean-thebean 20d ago

“Drops”….Why should Ohio states preseason ranking matter at all after a down of football has been played?

42

u/SecondBreakfast814 Indiana Hoosiers 20d ago

How good is LSU though? Don’t really have a great win themselves. I mean I think they’re a top 20 type team but Clemson is ass and so is A&M. Ole miss got humbled and nearly lost to Louisville who lost to Wake. Just not much separation between any of those teams really

u/discipleofbill Notre Dame • Laurier 20d ago

We’ll see how A&M and Clemson fare the rest of the year but they didn’t just beat those teams, they thoroughly dominated them. That has to count for something. Their schedule is hard enough we’ll learn more about them soon enough.

-9

u/garygoblins Indiana • Old Brass Spittoon 20d ago

They both looks like pretty mediocre\bad teams

26

u/discipleofbill Notre Dame • Laurier 20d ago

Maybe but then LSU did exactly what a team tanked where they are should do.

14

u/OneVast3433 20d ago

Who has Ohio State beaten that are better wins than LSU's wins over Clemson and TAMU?

17

u/Mmathaiss Ohio State • Mount Union 20d ago

We have a quality loss to an SEC team. Clearly more valuable than a win....

9

u/ma2016 LSU Tigers 20d ago

This is what happens when you try to rank a system that is mostly based on chaos

24

u/DwyaneWade305 Florida Gators 20d ago

One thing you can’t take away from LSU is they for sure have a top 5 defense in the country. I know you can say Clemson and A&M are ass but both of those teams have elite talent and the offenses literally looked helpless against LSU. Even a high powered Ole Miss team started struggling in the 2nd half.

3

u/Few-Improvement9978 LSU Tigers 20d ago

First half was pure coaching error. Not player error.

I think LSU is stronger than what people realize who really did a deep dive into what happened at the ole Miss game.

I will say - I lost a lot of faith in my DC after seeing his stupidity in the first half

2

u/Taz119 LSU Tigers • Southern Jaguars 20d ago

I was losing my mind at those dumbass 3 man rushes. Literally just letting Chambliss sit in the pocket all day and pick apart the secondary

1

u/FSUfan35 Florida State Seminoles • Sickos 20d ago

I know you can say Clemson and A&M are ass but both of those teams have elite talent and the offenses literally looked helpless

Their offenses have looked helpless against Georgia Southern, UNC, Cal, and Kentucky.

u/ThatStrangeGuyOverMe Alabama • Illinois 20d ago

That same statement applies to you guys, and the difference is LSU just got a ranked win last night. While y'all refballed your way to squeaking past NW at home 😂

-32

u/SecondBreakfast814 Indiana Hoosiers 20d ago

I see 38-3 still stings. You alright bro?

45

u/ThatStrangeGuyOverMe Alabama • Illinois 20d ago

Listen I'm really happy you guys finally have something you can throw back at people when you have no counter argument. It's a rite of passage. Statement is still true though.

-29

u/SecondBreakfast814 Indiana Hoosiers 20d ago

Didn’t bring us up at all and wasn’t talking about us and you interject with that. Always insecure Alabama fans lol “refballed” please point to how we won on that. I’m waiting

18

u/ThatStrangeGuyOverMe Alabama • Illinois 20d ago

The blatant mishandling of the review of the long run leading to Indiana's final score, giving y'all a free 6 yards, coupled with a very questionable drive extending penalty on top of that. And even still NW held y'all out of the endzone for like 4-5 plays. The reason folks dislike Indiana is not because y'all beat their schools, it's because of people like you 😂.

-7

u/bd1047 Indiana Hoosiers • Texas Longhorns 20d ago

The extra 6 yards was a big fuck up, but you could argue it helped NW as it gave us less time to burn clock. The drive extending penalty was clear and obvious. Not sure what you were watching

Also it absolutely makes sense you’d be salty about a school that beat your flairs 101-13 last year haha

-11

u/SecondBreakfast814 Indiana Hoosiers 20d ago

Yes a free 6 yards won us the game. You’re so right. Any other absolutely EGREGIOUS paid off refball plays I missed? Obviously those refs were betting on the game to give us 5 whole yards! Glad this can be put to bed.

21

u/freerobertshmurder Texas Longhorns • Georgia Bulldogs 20d ago

Y'all are such novices at this lmao

Alabama has 18 rings I don't think they're still bitter about one bad loss last year

-4

u/SecondBreakfast814 Indiana Hoosiers 20d ago

You don’t follow IU much then cuz they’re in our mentions quite a bit on here and on Twitter lol. And saying we refballed our way to a win is hilarious and says that guy didn’t watch our game. Comes off as salty

7

u/LongDickCallahan Alabama Crimson Tide 20d ago

I had actually almost forgotten about yall lol

1

u/SecondBreakfast814 Indiana Hoosiers 20d ago

Yeah clearly lol

Act like you’ve been here before…oh wait you haven’t 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/SecondBreakfast814 Indiana Hoosiers 20d ago

Sir we won it last year and I’m a fan I don’t have to act like I’ve been anywhere before 😂

2

u/Johnny_Kilroy_84 LSU Tigers • Georgia Bulldogs 20d ago

You can make that same argument for ole miss. By your own admissions, they don’t have a definitively good win and they just got run off the field by florida.

2

u/katarh Georgia Bulldogs • /r/CFB Donor 20d ago

Don't worry, the gauntlet is coming for Georgia in the next month.

4

u/Squeakygear Virginia Tech • Oklahoma 20d ago

But they only dropped one space in the poll after that shellacking? Make it make sense lol

1

u/Due_Rope_6061 Navy Midshipmen 20d ago

One of these centuries, the AP is going to stop overrating LSU every year. Then again I've also been saying they will eventually stop overrating A&M every offseason but that doesn't seem to be happening either.

1

u/ScrofessorLongHair Alabama • Georgia Tech 20d ago

I think we should be ranked either 5 or 6, above Ohio State. And not just because they're assholes.

-5

u/AsukaState2 Alabama Crimson Tide 20d ago

LSU is shit though

9

u/bdm13 Miami Hurricanes • Florida Cup 20d ago

That defense is paper mache. Louisville was also scoring at will on Ole Miss. It might be possible that both Ole Miss and LSU are both pretty good, but not great. But with these rankings, you’d never know it.

2

u/SecondBreakfast814 Indiana Hoosiers 20d ago

Correct take here. Probably top 15-20 teams in reality

8

u/ThatStrangeGuyOverMe Alabama • Illinois 20d ago

They have a better resume with 1 loss than y'all do. So I think it makes sense if y'all can be rated #5 with 1 loss.

2

u/Big_Lawfulness_8143 Alabama Crimson Tide 20d ago

Didnt they outgain Florida on a per play basis

How bad could they have looked

1

u/Zharick_ Florida Gators • UCF Knights 20d ago

Is that taking off the garbage time short runs to kill the clock?

0

u/Big_Lawfulness_8143 Alabama Crimson Tide 20d ago

Idk it was 7 ypp to 6.6 for Florida

1

u/Mike_with_Wings Florida • North Carolina 20d ago

But they couldn’t score, and still had to punt a lot after big chunk plays

0

u/Big_Lawfulness_8143 Alabama Crimson Tide 20d ago

OK? You cant look that terrible and put up 7 ypp against your opponent

1

u/Mike_with_Wings Florida • North Carolina 20d ago

I didn’t say anything to the contrary, just explaining how they scored fewer points. Wasn’t trying to argue

1

u/CraigslistBulbasaur Pittsburgh Panthers 20d ago

They looked bad but it was still on the road against another top 10 team with one of their best players out hurt.

1

u/tripsd Florida Gators • Kansas State Wildcats 20d ago

or...did we look really good? Wanna meet up in glendale?

1

u/magnumapplepi Ole Miss Rebels • Cincinnati Bearcats 20d ago

Agreed. We should be unranked

11

u/obiwans_lightsaber Mississippi State • Auburn 20d ago

Definitely not unranked, but 13-14 makes more sense to me
