Florida is 0-2 since Josh Pate compared them to 2019 LSU.

And then he tried to pretend he didn’t say that. Coward.

u/Fuckingfademefam /r/CFB 7d ago

I don’t watch his show anymore. Did he really back peddle? 😂

u/Manning_bear_pig Montana State Bobcats • Miami Hurricanes 7d ago

"I didn't say I thought that, just that some people were saying it"

This was his defense.

u/MasPatriot Nebraska Cornhuskers 7d ago

He went with the that’s what I was hearing from other people it wasn’t my own opinion excuse

43

u/discipleofbill Notre Dame • Laurier 7d ago

Yeah he did.

66

u/YWingSupremacist Indiana Hoosiers 7d ago

he back peddles everything these days. massive hack

58

u/Gabagool0vaHere Georgia Bulldogs 7d ago

He even back peddled the whole Trump thing, hyped it up, defended it, shut down a couple comment sections, all for him to end up deleting the video entirely. He has zero back bone

61

u/apignamedcurtis Houston Cougars • Texas Longhorns 7d ago

Can y’all please spell pedal correctly😭

22

u/hello_dali Indiana • Notre Dame 7d ago

Thought I was losing my mind

TBF Pate does peddle in shit

13

u/Squirrel_Whisperer Georgia Bulldogs 7d ago

I knew him growing up. He was a year younger, played paintball at our family farm. I haven't spoken with him in over 20 years, but we did grow up in rural west Georgia in an area that voted Trump 75%. Even people that are educated but never left the area still think democrats are marxists. It wouldn't surprise me if he still had republican tendencies. I was full republican back then and now leftist, but I'm sure I've had a much more varied life than his regardless of his public success.

that's what these media guys do they go with the trending topic of the day and hope people forget and unfortunately almost everyone does forget with this 24/7 news media cycle

Like he was about to swat down some passes over Revis Island.

Everyone is 2019 LSU until they’re not 2019 LSU

21

u/lilboytuner919 Ohio State Buckeyes • Marching Band 7d ago

Everybody better than 2019 LSU until they gotta be better than 2019 LSU

10

u/SirImpervious LSU Tigers • Lamar Cardinals 7d ago

Somewhat related, but I'm often sad that we didn't get to see 2019 LSU vs Ohio State. Those two teams along with Clemson were so far ahead of the pack that year. We got to see Clemson/Ohio State and Clemson/LSU, but we never got that third match between those amazing teams.

Everybody likes comparing their teams to one that had likely 3 NFL HoFers on offense.

u/gatorbois Florida Gators 7d ago

Fuck Pate. Same dude who hyped up Napier for years and compared him to Saban in many ways

153

u/lowes18 Florida State Seminoles • FAU Owls 7d ago

Which was hilarious because anyone who followed him at his Louisiana days knew he was a serious underpreformer.

10

u/gandalf45435 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns • /r/CFB Santa Claus 7d ago

People who didn't know Cajun ball acted like he was some play calling prophet.

79

u/daftdude05 Georgia Bulldogs • Pittsburgh Panthers 7d ago

Stopped watching him 3 years ago and never went back.

Dude couldn’t even get behind his own poll. “Don’t come after me, blame the algorithm”. Then would be 90% fluff.

Dude knows how to talk slow and appeal to the masses tho, elite at being generic enough for a wider audience appeal.

u/Beechman Florida Gators • Virginia Cavaliers 7d ago

Stopped watching him 3 years ago and never went back.

I had a 7 hour drive last weekend and wasn't sure what to listen to so I gave his podcast a go and it was genuinely insane how many ads there were. I rotate through a hand full of podcasts while working so I get that ads are inevitable but it was so constant and the ad breaks were SO LONG. I'm pretty sure I to skip more than 8 minutes before they were actually talking football. I gave up after a couple of segments before I just flipped backed to music. I'm rambling but he just sucks. I don't get his popularity.

Another person who doesn’t understand power rankings

1

u/stimulation Georgia Bulldogs • /r/CFB Brickmason 7d ago

Don’t simp for that bald vanilla fuck

-10

u/n1nja_nacho South Carolina Gamecocks 7d ago

He calls them power rankings, but in any other sport power rankings are the same as polls.

Just call it what it is, betting odds.

14

u/VercingetorixDied Ohio State Buckeyes • USC Trojans 7d ago

Are they? I've always known power ratings and rankings to be distinct

5

u/n1nja_nacho South Carolina Gamecocks 7d ago

Power ratings in the pros might as well be rankings.

I don't dislike Pate, but I wish he just called the JP Poll "betting odds."

3

u/mbh223 Texas • Arizona State 6d ago

He keeps the name confusing to drive engagement and it works like a charm.

2

u/Icy_Meat9199 Texas Tech Red Raiders 7d ago

The poll he continues to post in order to farm engagement and influence opinion when he knows it's absolute dogshit

-1

u/daftdude05 Georgia Bulldogs • Pittsburgh Panthers 7d ago

sad to hear its still going then

1

u/Icy_Meat9199 Texas Tech Red Raiders 7d ago

Yeah its just "on drugs" every week now

But we ignore that

6

u/katarh Georgia Bulldogs • /r/CFB Donor 7d ago

Uncle Lou calls him "juice poot" for a reason.

3

u/SpaceTimeMorph Georgia Bulldogs 7d ago

I was fully supportive of anyone who would hype up and continue to have Floridia employ Napier.

1

u/DangerIsMyUsername Tennessee Volunteers • Sickos 6d ago

So he's on Florida's payroll? No sane person would say this 😅

1

u/mizaistorom Georgia Bulldogs 5d ago

Napier never lost to SCAR though

74

u/dunno260 Alabama Crimson Tide 7d ago

Also since The Film Guy (whom I genuinely do like his stuff) put out a video about Buster Faulkner's offense being the toughest thing to defend in CFB.

47

u/BeginningDay19 Georgia Bulldogs 7d ago

But he also said this week that Mizzou might have unlocked it a bit with the DT on the weak side to stop that stretch run play.

50

u/earthling82 South Carolina • New Mexico 7d ago

Time for the clown nose to make an appearance

7

u/A_Rolling_Baneling USC • Mississippi State 7d ago

Pate just glazes whoever gives him the most access. As soon as a school stops returning his calls he shits on them. Napier let Pate in the door so he loved him. It’s pathetic for a supposed journalist

3

u/Icy_Meat9199 Texas Tech Red Raiders 7d ago

And he's disingenuous.

He seeks the opinion of least resistance and most profit but acts as if he's honest. He thinks we are too dumb to be able to tell.

50

u/Tommybrady20 Ohio State Buckeyes 7d ago

It’s easy to see why 99% of the time Pate rides the fence because any time he says a take it’s the biggest pile of turd you’ve ever heard

10

u/Greenlytrees Ohio State Buckeyes 7d ago

The guy whose video titles will include “prediction” every week and he then doesn’t actually make a prediction? No, never.

13

u/master_bloseph Kansas State Wildcats • Baker Wildcats 7d ago

It’s not fence riding, it’s nuance /s

10

u/Tommybrady20 Ohio State Buckeyes 7d ago

Anything can hypothetically happen!

“I don’t think this is gonna happen at all but I can’t say for sure that it won’t!”

4

u/flick_my_fleck Florida State • Syracuse 7d ago

Still waiting on Pate’s promised 2-hour special for FSU not making the playoffs undefeated.

3

u/SyVSFe 7d ago

Skimming through this thread, their bandwagon is gone

3

u/Yanksuck73 Wisconsin Badgers 7d ago

Pate has terrible takes. I had to stop listening to his podcast a couple years back. Dude is a clickbait sensationalist.

5

u/V1cVinegar44 LSU Tigers 7d ago

Think the venn diagram of people who listen to pate and think jelly roll is high concept is a circle

5

u/TrappedInOhio Kent State • Notre Dame 7d ago

Pate is proof that if you have a nice sounding voice and commit to consistently streaming, you can make it far without anything insightful to say.

2

u/americandreams41 Georgia Bulldogs 7d ago

Him blowing anyone he deems somebody in the sport is a big key as well.

2

u/DanFlashesC0up0n Texas A&M Aggies 7d ago

Listen that might not be good, but also it could potentially be okay

1

u/RhettWilliams88 South Carolina • South Carolina 7d ago

1

u/ManOfTheHour1 Georgia Bulldogs 7d ago

Sounds terrible. True shame. So much sad.

Another example of “ people really listen to this guy huh?”
