Maybe UCLA has a quarterback controversy but clearly we don't.

Yeesh when you put it that way, really frames today as a Pyrrhic victory if Nico’s out long term. And I can’t believe im saying that given his level of play.

Dieffenbach missed some throws but he didn’t do anything stupid. Oregon’s defensive line played great today as well. I think even with mid QB play we’re still okay.

You’re right, he was a steady presence and apart from rushing one 3rd down throw I had no qualms. Just not sure he can be a long term answer if we want to win out like we really should at this point. But crow is my favorite meal so we’ll see if it comes to that.

Nico isn't the long term answer if we want to win out either though.

Agreed. He's too inconsistent. Against Purdue he was making some insane NFL level throws, and then he comes out and plays like he did today.

What defenses left can bottle up our RBs like Oregon kinda did? Maybe just Michigan?

Yeah probably just Michigan. Maybe Minnesota away in November could get dicey with weather.

Minnesota in early November could be fine.... or it could be like playing football on Hoth. Who knows?

My god literally the next opponent is a top 20 rush defense that kept Notre Dame’s rushing attack in check.

Dude is tall as hell too, he could see 5 miles up the road if he wanted to

I mean I don't know, Dieffenbach threw a few dimes. That's a really tough spot to come in cold, I'm trying to see how he looks after a week of practice reps.

I loved the play call on his first play in. Ballsy and spectacularly well-executed.

Honestly I didn’t really notice a drop off when the second string came in. Both teams played great on defense, and diffenbach didn’t turn it over which probably won you the game
