Guys I am starting to think Arch Manning might not be as good his uncles.

Two hideous 4th quarter picks

With a beautiful (false hope) drive in between.

Can’t be putting the ball in harm’s way like that.

Blows my mind the media keeps talking about him as a #1 pick

Arch is straight ass

u/HurryAdorable1327 Oklahoma Sooners 7d ago

Any GM that takes Arch in the first 4 rounds is committing self-sabotage. He’s not even on Ewers level and he got shipped out of Florida this last offseason.

46

u/Bigchillin556 Texas Longhorns 7d ago

Been saying it. Texas fans owe Ewers an apology

Don't worry, us Cards will take him and if you don't like it, then you don't like Cardinals football

He's on the Jags now so still in Florida actually lol

2

u/CodyRCantrell Oklahoma • Red River Shootout 6d ago

Round 3 onward are kind of a crapshoot so I wouldn't be surprised to see any QB taken in R3.

However with the hype and his name I also wouldn't be surprised if some stubborn GM thought they could immediately fix him and use a R1 or R2 pick on him.

1

u/Animeniackinda1 6d ago

Watch the Browns do it....😔

-10

u/Sharp_Security6885 7d ago

Hes better than ewers arm wise, run wise, and playing wise overall.

14

u/CapitalSTEEV21 7d ago

Texas fan here. He’s not ass, but he’s not “first overall pick” good and I’d even be hesitant to take him in round 1 at this point. Not consistent enough, has flashes, but is better on the move than he is in the pocket. Sark’s offense also is questionable, he attacks horizontally way too much. Arch does better when he gets in rhythm throwing downfield. I wonder how he’d look in an offense that rolls him out and throws downfield more rather than these BS orbit/bubble screens. If I’m an NFL GM, I’d consider him in round 2, but take him in round 3. If I’m Arch I’m staying for another year. Bryce Underwood, now that guy is ass.

13

u/MisterMihai Ohio State Buckeyes 6d ago

If his last name wasn’t Manning, he wouldn’t be in any conversation for a first or second day pick. Guy has been at Texas for 4 years now and still can’t read a defense.

-1

u/CapitalSTEEV21 6d ago edited 6d ago

Chill, he beat yall, be realistic, I am. Hes not bad enough to be a day 3, he’s more of a day 2 and that’s due to size, traits and athleticism. He does struggle at reading defenses, and is better when moving vs standing tall in the pocket. If he EVER gets it together, I think he’ll be a better CFB QB vs NFL QB. To even say that, shows that he’s not worth a first rounder.

2

u/FXcheerios69 Nebraska Cornhuskers 6d ago

His “traits” are the letters above the number on the back of his jersey.

1

u/CapitalSTEEV21 6d ago

His traits are his athleticism, strong arm, compact release and when his base it set, throwing WRs open. When his base gets sloppy, he misses easy throws, and can get confused presnap too often. Hes too hot and cold for a 1st round pick, but he’ll go day 2.

1

u/FXcheerios69 Nebraska Cornhuskers 6d ago

One of the biggest critiques that routinely is brought up during games is his inability to throw with anticipation.

He doesn’t throw guys open. In fact, his biggest red flag as a prospect is probably that he can’t throw guys open. He needs receivers and a talent gap to let guy get open for him.

1

u/MisterMihai Ohio State Buckeyes 6d ago

The man has been at Texas for 4 years now and still can’t read a defense. I highly doubt he’s going to get it together at the next level. He’s athletic, but not nearly athletic enough to make up for the fact that he can’t make intermediate throws with any consistency.

1

u/CapitalSTEEV21 6d ago

And that’s fair, but someone will bet on his traits during day 2. Again, I’m not arguing that he’s not the one, as many on here state.

Listening to some high profile Texas fans talk about how much they hate watching him is so hilarious. So many sec homers pushing his talent and ability more than Texas homers should have been a wake up call, but national cfb media just doesn’t give a fuck about anything beyond clicks and discourse.

He could easily toast you in Madden or whatever they're calling the college video game now, let alone real life, but let's not pretend he could also toast half of the p4 and probably most of the g6.

88

u/ianbits Ohio State Buckeyes 7d ago

34

u/sleetx Syracuse Orange • Sickos 7d ago

it's Shedeur Sanders all over again... just wait for Mel Kiper to melt down while Arch drops like a rock during the draft

19

u/Geiseric222 7d ago

The sad part is he probably still will be because the narrative is to strong

21

u/ianbits Ohio State Buckeyes 7d ago

NFL GMs aren't losing their job over a narrative

14

u/Geiseric222 7d ago

Anthony Richard’s got drafted high

Don’t underestimate them

10

u/RukiMotomiya 7d ago

But he wasn't the #1 pick, he was the third QB taken.

7

u/Geiseric222 7d ago

Yes and he could not play the position of QB

He should have been a forth round flier not third QB

2

u/RukiMotomiya 7d ago

I completely agree, but the entire first post was that he would be the first overall QB entirely due to narrative. Richardson being the 3rd QB taken doesn't really show that.

0

u/Geiseric222 7d ago

Yes but the point is narrative can be a boost.

Manning has had times were he looked good and the narrative can paper over the rest

2

u/SituationKey8985 7d ago

Anthony Richardson is the most athletic QB to ever come out. It didn’t pan out but he would have been in the Josh Allen tier if he took the game seriously and developed correctly.

Arch on the other hand doesn’t have any elite traits

7

u/thatsawce Ohio State • Nebraska 7d ago

I would say Cam Newton holds that title. AR and Newton are literally identical in height and weight and athletic ability, but Cam actually worked out. That’s just my opinion though.

5

u/SituationKey8985 7d ago

Fair enough but the point is there was a legit reason to draft AR even if was risky. It wasn’t a media narrative draft pick.

1

u/niel89 Stanford Cardinal 6d ago

Josh Allen single handedly got an entire generation of Tools™ QB prospects over drafted. Every GM wants to draft underdeveloped tools QBs anyways and Josh Allen provided the justification.

3

u/Bubba_Gump_Shrimp Ohio State • Notre Dame 7d ago

Pffft you underestimate NFL GM egos.

2

u/Level_East94 Jacksonville State • North … 7d ago

Zach Wilson has entered the chat

4

u/RukiMotomiya 7d ago

Also not the #1 pick.

3

u/SaltyBarDog 7d ago

That isn't the flex you think it is. If you are drafting a QB top five, he should be what you are building around.

1

u/RukiMotomiya 7d ago

The first post was that he'd be the first overall (and thus above not only above other QBs but also guys like Jeremiah Smith) due to narrative, so Zach Wilson doesn't say anything about that.

1

u/JokeandCack 7d ago

Hmmm, I think that’s exactly something they would do lol

u/SaltyBarDog 7d ago

If the Mannings were just 2 brothers I don’t think their family would be viewed the same. It’s also his grandpa being a longtime starting QB in the league, and his dad being a highly touted prospect who was medically retired

17

u/CodyRCantrell Oklahoma • Red River Shootout 6d ago

Yeah by all accounts his dad probably was talented enough to have a career in college and possibly the NFL if he hadn't been injured.

3

u/LuCyKrAiG Notre Dame Fighting Irish 6d ago

I mean even if we are talking about spinal fusions or something isn't that what Manning had when he was on the bronco's? Or like him running and diving for plays in the playoffs I thought was the big thing years ago because the dude ha surgery on his neck or something. Either way, all of this to say Arch sucks compared to the rest of his family lol.

I don't need to because I have common sense and even if I thought it was that at first, I wouldn't run to Reddit to make a joke about it which clearly didn't hit the way you intended it as evidenced by all the downvotes. You can still delete it.

Well Peyton does have almost 700 rushing yards and 18 rushing TDs so there were some slower than him.

2

u/FloodedHoseBed Arizona State Sun Devils 3d ago

To be fair, if you break that down at 16 games a season for 17 seasons, that’s only 2.5 yards a game lmao. When you only rush 2.5 yards a game, it’s easy for the defense to forget about you and once a year you sneak in a little trick play for a tuddy lmao
