Crazy game. This is what I love about college football and why it will always be better than the pros in my book.

I just got super invested into college football a few years ago and I feel like I wasted years of my life

YouTube TV multiview has me watching so many games from any conference every Saturday I don’t discriminate 😂

Hey 2019 was the run of a lifetime and don’t let how it ended spoil the fun we had along the way

It’s the best thing to ever happen to sports viewing

Best thing for tv football since the superimposed first down line

The NFL left me and it turns out they did me a huge solid

Don’t ask what led to this but I’m actually a Falcons fan and the NFL died to me after 2016 because of that silly little thing that happened

Brother, you probably saved years of your life depending on how successful and invested you get in your team. 😂

Despite being stressed tf out, there were moments of unbridled joy, and deep despair, but ultimate triumph. This was an amazing game. Me and my son were going nuts. Core memory right there. Just nothing else like it in all of sports.

Yeah that’s the stuff right there!

Totally agree. I read comments on the NFL sub sometimes about how they can't get into CFB and it blows my mind. CFB is like NFL with wackiness and hilarity cranked up to 10, not to mention the rivalries and college atmosphere. Unbeatable.

Georgia might get 5 picks on Arch.

u/wavyboizzz Texas Longhorns 6d ago

We aren’t going to face them this year at least

u/Knook7 Florida Gators 6d ago

Well luckily for you our secondary is ass so he'll have a bounce back game next week

College football at its best is better than the NFL, but the sheer quantity of 50 point blowouts in CFB makes it an overall worse product than the pros imo. At least the vast majority of games are competitive in the NFL

Used to think that, but sorry. My pro team is never in danger of not playing its biggest rivals just because someone else decided it would make them more money.

Rivalries in the NFL feel so manufactured.

With college, the rivalries don't stop with football and I think that's what gives them more weight and makes them more special.

Well, I'm a Commanders fan, and I hate the Cowboys, Giants, and Eagles as much as I hate Carolina, Duke, Wake, Clemson, FSU, and Maryland.

But in 5 years the Commanders will still be playing Dallas, New York, and Philly, but State won't be playing anyone on that list anymore.

100%. NFL is too polished and therefore sooooo boring.

u/BobStoops401K Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

The on field product is better, but the passion is nowhere near what CFB has.

6

u/mytavance Oklahoma Sooners • Cheer 6d ago

The on Field product is better, mostly because its not like 3 plays and a Ad break for a solid 2-3 hours before they hit their Ad quota.

5

u/BobStoops401K Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

I totally agree. The NFL has used their leverage to minimize ad breaks and speed up reviews. College reviews too much shit imo and it takes too long.

Sategna's 2 catches are a perfect example. Those were cut and dry and shouldn't have taken that long to review.

1

u/KIDWHOSBORED Texas Longhorns 6d ago

We were so confused watching those catches why they were being reviewed or called in complete. The first one he tucked it AND got both feet down.

But the ad breaks were out of control. 4+ hours of this game was too much.

2

u/BobStoops401K Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

I agree. It's a real problem for CFB. Both thing. S

100%. On the other hand I’m stoked to watch Bama Georgia as a neutral. So much better than any bill of Sunday games.

I was literally back and forth between the OU/Texas game and Oregon/UCLA all afternoon. What a day for football.

The problem is that with the expanded playoffs this isnt the kind of dagger in the heart it used to be. Texas can pull an OSU and go on to win it all despite being beaten by their rival.

Fun, sure. But I miss when every game mattered. Now its becoming more and more like the pros

19

u/Front-Doughnut8573 Minnesota Golden Gophers 6d ago

It doesn’t need to be a dagger for it to be meaningful. Your nostalgia is clouding ur memory on the absolute bs snubs teams used to have

-2

u/YoungXanto Penn State Nittany Lions • Team Chaos 6d ago

There really weren't that many subs.

But I prefer the weight on regional games that organically develop rivalries over the nationalization and corportaization of the sport.

The playoffs just arent as compelling to me as BCS era college football. The national championship is cool or whatever, but not at the expense of the framework of the sport. But here we are anyway

3

u/EIiteJT Texas Longhorns • Team Chaos 6d ago

You could still lose 1 and make it to the championship even in BCS Era. Case in point UF v OU. OU lost to Texas 45-35 that year.

3

u/BobStoops401K Oklahoma Sooners 6d ago

Yeah but you only have one RRS per year, and there's nothing else like it all year. Winning this one matters. It's not like we'll meet again in 5 weeks.

u/LurkerV1 Georgia Bulldogs • Washington Huskies 6d ago

I feel like we get more games like this tho spread out between the leagues. More slots open more games matter.

But yeah this does lack the true weight of losses like this in the past.
