They really just need to swallow there pride and make it reviewable

They are never going to make it reviewable because at the end of the day it's a judgement call because there is no clear definition of what PI actually is.

It's the football equivalent of a balk.

I mean so is targeting

Not even close to true.

Targeting has a clear definition (which means that it is not a judgement call) and on top of that the replay official is allowed to stop play to determine if a targeting foul should be called. No other foul allows for that, and if you start extending that ability to others you're just going to wind up with an endless string of penalties because of how much more the replay official can see.

I mean they can always adjust and make it a clear enough/close enough definition similar to a balk. Situations like this seem pretty obvious to me what it should be.

Balks (along with a huge number of other judgement calls) are not reviewable either, which is the point. Balks are also notoriously poorly defined.

Situations like this seem pretty obvious to me what it should be.

You don't write rules based on edge cases like a single no-call because that just *results in bad rules.

I guess id rather try to evolve and experiment with trying to review these types of calls then just give up and still leave it to human error. But I get it, theres usually holds and interference calls on almost every play which could backfire and change the game to much to peoples liking

That's the problem I'm driving at (in addition to the fact that allowing replay for fouls is extremely rare)—if you make all penalties reviewable you're just going to be giving the replay official complete control of the game and you may as well do away with the on-field crew entirely because they are superfluous in that situation.

Pretty sure clothes lining the receiver without turning your head for the ball removes all subjectivity from it.

As I told another poster, you do not write rules based solely on edge cases because all that that does is result in bad rules being written.

This case clearly was DPI, bit there is not a way to change the definition or make PI (non)calls reviewable without breaking other aspects of the game entirely.c

I'll repeat the same I challenge that I gave another poster: objectively define PI.

Thats the dumbest fucking thing ive ever goddamn heard. It so easily could just be reviewable and have the same rules as everything else where if there isnt clear evidence to the contrary, it cant be overturned.

The reason things like this dont get a rule change is that it make it easier/more possible for vegas to influence the outcome of games more directly lol

Define PI then.

and have the same rules as everything else

.....that's the current state of affairs. The only on-field penalty call that is reviewable is targeting. No other call is.
