News [Matt Hayes] The SEC willingly flushed its conference championship game that last year had better ratings than all eight first round CFP games of the brief, 12-team era.

Playing in that game has almost felt like a punishment ever since we went to 12 teams. Seriously, you had like 4 fanbases on rivalry weekend rooting for whatever outcome let them skip the 13th game deathmatch.

Winning the last 2 SEC titles has been great, but ngl I kinda soured on it when our beatdown of Bama last year had no impact on either of our rankings.

I mean I’m a big fan of humor when my guy is the comedian punching down, so I’ll take it as much as we can get it.

Hate the SEC and all that is stands for.

And I 100% agree with this.

Especially since having a first round bye seems to hurt far more than help

I wanted it pretty bad in 2024 and would still want it this year, and I think most Texas fans agree with that, but that has more to do with being new to the league and wanting to get one against Georgia. I can see why other fanbases would feel that way.

I always felt like the obvious solution was to make every team play a 13th game, like the B1G did in 2020

Georgia winning the game/conference is something that I've actively enjoyed. It is its own unique victory; not far removed from winning the playoff.

If you don't really value it, or if you'd trade the game for a marginally better chance of winning the other title, that's fair. But it's just a matter of perspective.

I hope UGA makes it and wins it again this year, and will really miss it next year.
