News [Matt Hayes] The SEC willingly flushed its conference championship game that last year had better ratings than all eight first round CFP games of the brief, 12-team era.

Playing in that game has almost felt like a punishment ever since we went to 12 teams. Seriously, you had like 4 fanbases on rivalry weekend rooting for whatever outcome let them skip the 13th game deathmatch.

Georgia winning the game/conference is something that I've actively enjoyed. It is its own unique victory; not far removed from winning the playoff.

If you don't really value it, or if you'd trade the game for a marginally better chance of winning the other title, that's fair. But it's just a matter of perspective.

I hope UGA makes it and wins it again this year, and will really miss it next year.
