Firstly, Texas should be unranked after this loss. They have now lost to two straight unranked teams in back to back weeks. Secondly, Texas is in real trouble based on their upcoming schedule. They still have to play versus Ole Miss, versus Mississippi State, @ Missouri, @ LSU, and @ Texas A&M. A&M might end the season worse than 8-4 but it would be funny as hell to see Texas go 8-4 or worse.

Unranking a top 10 Texas team two years in a row would be funny.

u/astrothemorkie LSU Tigers • USC Trojans 2h ago

Beating Texas in Austin after losing 2 straight blowouts is the most Florida football shit ever

8

u/darthspurrier Florida Gators 1h ago

2 straight blowouts to the conference powerhouses of Mizzou and South Carolina too. This conference is just madness and chaos lol

5

u/CripzyChiken Florida Gators • Team Meteor 2h ago

with a backup, first start, QB

3

u/TheBrightSide_2011 Missouri Tigers 2h ago

“Texas is the standard” -DeLoss Dodds

*I know I’m misquoting him, but he absolutely said shit like this during his tenure as AD.

3

u/Dry_Car_1568 Florida Gators • Team Chaos 2h ago

This is the exact reason why I picked us to win this game, because it would be hilarious and we had a shot

2

u/Ytee3 Oklahoma Sooners • Ohio State Buckeyes 1h ago

With a back up qb

u/irregular_stork Oklahoma Sooners 3h ago

Alternatively, let's put Florida at #6

Florida needs to be simultaneously unranked and in the top 10. What is this team

175

u/xmjm424 Florida Gators • Team Meteor 2h ago

Unranked Florida is a top ten team, ranked Florida is an unranked team.

15

u/SimCFB Florida Gators 2h ago

True

Keep us unranked.

This nonsense statement has so much truth in it

7

u/Amodernhousewife Oklahoma State • Florida 2h ago

I just call that balanced football

5

u/Kitchen_Yogurt7968 2h ago

This is so well-said lol

u/Background_Touchdown 1h ago

Schödinger’s Florida. They suck and are great at the same time.

1

u/TrioOfTerrors Nebraska Cornhuskers • Team Chaos 1h ago

That's just the essence of the state.

Goddamn you can't deny this logic

This is it!!

1

u/Active-Track-7905 Oregon Ducks 1h ago

The Florida paradox. I never thought that football would be the reason the state got one, but here we are.

u/titanium_hydra Virginia Tech • Nebraska 2h ago

I feel like this says more about top ten teams than what it says about Florida

10

u/LionPutrid4252 Texas A&M • Oklahoma State 2h ago

Better version of 2022 Texas A&M.  We had an overall losing record, but winning record against top 10 ranked teams

1

u/Lurky-Lou 2h ago

What in the monkey’s paw. Winning amazing battles and losing the war.

Did the team develop and cohere late in the season? Injured players returned?

8

u/RonMexico13 Florida Gators 2h ago

Shrödinger's ranked team.

1

u/SST114 Miami Hurricanes 2h ago

Bi polar... but yeah back in the T20 via 2 top 10 wins at the time. Also what if they win out from here? 😅

1

u/irregular_stork Oklahoma Sooners 1h ago

I mean, if they go 10-2 they'll deserve to be in the playoffs at that point.

1

u/butterhorse Alabama Crimson Tide 2h ago

Florida is the new Auburn

1

u/bored_in_ATX462 1h ago

They're better being unranked it seems

We’re on the list but our rank is “???”

Leave us unranked, PLEASE

What idiot scheduled 3 away games in a row?

22

u/BillyBobChorton Georgia Bulldogs 2h ago

Texas had a weak schedule their first 2 years in the SEC.  Now the gloves are off

3

u/pineywoods200 Texas Longhorns 2h ago

They played 3/5 SEC playoff teams last year and a 10 win Vanderbilt…

3

u/JohnHammerfall Texas Tech Red Raiders • USC Trojans 2h ago

Another hypothetical win for the SEC. Those “playoff teams” didn’t win a single playoff game that wasn’t against G5 or another SEC school.

2

u/pineywoods200 Texas Longhorns 1h ago

Lol okay tech. I was replying to a guy saying texas had a weak SEC schedule

-2

u/Hefty-Ambassador5661 USC Trojans 2h ago

Yeah SEC has had a really pathetic showing last year considering they had more teams in the playoffs than any other conference and lost most of them except when playing against each other and a g5 team

5

u/VendettaVera Arkansas Razorbacks • USC Trojans 2h ago

They do play Arkansas at home in the middle of that.

30

u/Lost-Protection-5655 Texas Longhorns • Red River Shootout 2h ago

Not only that, the final score of both games was 27-24. It’s uncanny. At least the Spurs season is beginning soon

8

u/emoney_gotnomoney Texas A&M Aggies 2h ago

God if Kentucky gets ANOTHER 35-37 win the script writers need to be fired

at least tax season ended October 15th, so many extended returns

1

u/master248 Texas A&M Aggies 1h ago

I’m still nervous about playing the Thunder again

1

u/Cregsy_ Oklahoma Sooners 46m ago

It’ll be quite the battle, I’m sure! Diehard OKC fan here, but I think y’all probably win this upcoming season opener

11

u/master248 Texas A&M Aggies 2h ago

Somehow, I think we’re still gonna lose to Texas lol. I wanna be wrong on this though

6

u/dub47 Texas Longhorns • Red River Shootout 2h ago

First ever Lone Star Showdown with two teams playing without QBs. It’ll be quite the show.

6

u/Nearby_Valuable_5467 Penn State • Arizona State 2h ago

Guaranteed win over MSU, the rest toss-ups

7

u/astrothemorkie LSU Tigers • USC Trojans 2h ago

I like MSU but they looked like shit today

5

u/idnttcrisis Georgia Bulldogs • Texas A&M Aggies 2h ago

MSU with Kamario Taylor is a few tiers above MSU without Kamario Taylor. But turf toe is a lingering injury and I’m not even sure if he’ll play in two weeks.

2

u/astrothemorkie LSU Tigers • USC Trojans 2h ago

Yeah he would have feasted on our defense

5

u/wheezymustafa Arkansas Razorbacks 2h ago

Hey don’t forget, they have to play us too 😅

2

u/rb1242 Texas Longhorns 2h ago

We are home vs Ole Miss

2

u/idnttcrisis Georgia Bulldogs • Texas A&M Aggies 2h ago

Good catch, corrected now!

2

u/LasixSteroidsAbx Georgia Bulldogs • Virginia Cavaliers 2h ago

I think Texas wins those games. They did this last year and then kicked it up in the back half.

1

u/GilgarTekmat Texas Longhorns • Texas State Bobcats 2h ago

Not unless we bench Arch we don't. Especially now with Simmons looking to be out for a while.

2

u/LasixSteroidsAbx Georgia Bulldogs • Virginia Cavaliers 2h ago edited 2h ago

They cant bench him. Arch is not a fast processor but he is a pretty good thrower of the ball. Oklahoma beat you bc your Offensive line play was awful and that really impacts Arch bc he needs lots of time.

1

u/GilgarTekmat Texas Longhorns • Texas State Bobcats 2h ago

I mean they can bench him, they just won't. He isn't just a slow processor, he consistently makes the wrong reads. dudes are wide open or about to be wide open and he takes sacks or throws into coverage every time. Even with infinite time, he still threw that ball into double coverage today that should have been picked, when he could have jogged up field for 10+ yards easily.

2

u/Corgi_Koala Ohio State Buckeyes 2h ago

It's absolutely criminal how Sark has taken one of the greatest draft prospects of all time from the most legendary quarterback family in football and turned him into like a fifth round pick.

1

u/WoodsLovelyDarkNDeep Texas • Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 53m ago

are you saying Sark who has job security is helping an NFL team land a potential stud for cheap by having him look bad in college and the Manning can shut people up about Brady getting drafted late and being successful?

Are you saying the Mannings plan that far ahead and with NIL money Arch is cool with semi-tanking as long as he’s guaranteed to go to said team he wants?

*the above is a fictional scenario and would require too many moving parts to not leak

2

u/seamusApoacalypse Oklahoma Sooners 1h ago

The Ohio st and Tennessee wins are probably going to keep Texas ranked this week.

2

u/vannawhite_power Texas A&M Aggies 2h ago

Brother- we are 100% ending the season at 8-4 or worse. Take the under on that number.

3

u/Budget-Ocelots 2h ago

It doesn’t matter if you are 5-7, but if that W is against Texas, a lot will be forgiven.

1

u/idnttcrisis Georgia Bulldogs • Texas A&M Aggies 2h ago

Just use KJ Edwards in the wildcat!

1

1

u/mechajlaw Nebraska Cornhuskers • Arkansas Razorbacks 2h ago

It's a quality loss though. Florida beat Texas after all.

1

u/THAWED21 Oklahoma Sooners • SMU Mustangs 2h ago

What about a world where the Thanksgiving game denies Texas a bowl game?

I don’t think you understand how bad we are. We have gotten crushed in our games. Yall have struggled but we are awful

1

u/rgvtim Texas A&M Aggies • SEC 2h ago

From your lips

1

u/SuspiciousBag3233 Arkansas Razorbacks 1h ago

HEY don't forget about Arkansas!

1

u/BostonYankeesBB 1h ago

Well Florida will be ranked so it'll be a quality loss and Texas will drop to like 24

1

u/ganner Kentucky Wildcats 1h ago

Be objective and don't over-weight recency. A 4-2 team with wins over #4 Ohio State and #14 Tennessee is not worthy of dropping from the top 25. They should take a tumble in the polls but you're overstating it.

1

u/dfphd Texas Longhorns 1h ago

Firstly, Texas should be unranked after this loss

Is this supposed to be a hot take? If anyone ranks us take their ballot away. And maybe their car keys too

1

u/Big_Truck Virginia Cavaliers • Auburn Tigers 1h ago

Texas is almost certain to miss the CFP. And heads should roll.

While the blame game will be Sark vs Arch, it’s probably “both.” As in, dump both and find a HC who can bring a “plug and play” QB1 next year.

1

u/Any-Establishment-15 Texas A&M Aggies • Elon Phoenix 1h ago

Worse than 8-4 would be great. Worse than 4-8 is more likely

1

u/Gariet1 Texas Longhorns 15m ago

Ironically, I think the only reason Texas even has a chance is due to that schedule. If we had a cupcake schedule the rest of the way out, we’d have no chance of being in. The only way in is to have a bunch of ranked wins under our belt and show that these two weeks were a fluke (which they weren’t Tbf, please get us an OC).
