Only the new 24 team format can save Texas playoff hopes

ESPN still gives them a 48% chance to make playoffs. Like…what even. After two losses to unranked teams?

The glasses industry must have something to do with this

Ratings with Texas > ratings without texas

Well see, you gotta look at the ranked wins! Otherwise, why play those games?

It’s based on FPI heading into this weekend, which still thought we were a good team that should be favored in the rest of our games. It’ll drop once it adjusts our projected record to the 5-7 it should be.

I mean as unlikely as it is, Texas wins out their in, no question. There not going to.

A win over Ohio State will have them over any one with an equal amount of losses.

I can only assume it's based on us winning out. Which looks harder and harder each weekend...

We are unranked in name only. Like comon. Florida is a top ten team when it wants to be and then will randomly turn into dogshit. Very inconsistent. I’m not arguing for us to be ranked, hell no we are great when unranked. I’m saying in terms of capability we could embarrass anyone anywhere. Things just actually have to come together

I mean shit we did all this with a backup qb who couldn’t hit anything in the first half. He is a slow pocket passer with screws in his legs and he somehow ran all over them. Things didn’t come together for us in this game. Not even close. Dallas Wilson was running wide open most of the game and Jones just couldn’t hit him. He could’ve had 200+yds. Juuust enough went right for us to win

Our quality when things come together needs to be respected for the elite level it is. It’s year 1 with a new coach. Of course it’s inconsistent but Sumrall has a good diamond of a football team he is slowly molding out of this godawful pile of shit Napier left him

I find it highly unlikely Texas wins all of Mizzou Ole Miss Miss State and LSU. If they lose just one of those games then it’s this loss that leaves them out

I meeeannn if we beat Georgia and start winning our remaining games then another playoff conversation might need to be had. We have beaten two top ten teams. We have the best wins of anyone in the nation. Anyone who says we cannot do it just because we lost to bad teams is a fool. Good Florida is hyper deadly. Hope we stay good

That assumes Texas can make it at 9-3, and at this point I’m not certain that is true.

Also not sure it will matter. 8-4 seems likely.

They have two great wins already and are probably in the field at 9-3. Now... their next four games are a nightmare, but if they get through it at 3-1 or better they are in pretty good shape to make the field.

Beating Ohio State is pretty big

This team is losing at least 5 games, the basketball tournament format might not even be enough to save us

So much truth.

They are getting ready to install next week to save TX. And maybe OSU.

At this point I'm actually very in favor of these kinds of teams going to the playoffs. They're obviously not going to win it all even if they make it in, but they will absolutely give us some sweet sweet "Boise State defeats Oklahoma" style postseason upsets over the years

“Not so fast my friend”

-Unranked teams on the Texas schedule

If Texas has a chance in the 24 team format then Florida will be on their schedule twice to make sure they don’t go. So it is written. So it shall be. This year they’ll probably lose one to ole Miss, mizzou, lsu, or Miss state and then it’ll be this loss that leaves em out yet again

We are to Texas what Missouri is to us
