Casual I made a free college football game on Roblox — 7v7, slow-mo TD replays, college overtime. Roast it 🏈

College football fan here. I've been building Touchdown U, a free 7v7 college football game on Roblox, and I'd love honest feedback from actual CFB fans.

- Instant games at any hour (the CPU fills empty spots)

- Call your plays, throw to open receivers, jukes, spins and dive tackles

- Slow-mo TD replays and college-style overtime

- 35 fictional schools (parody names), works on phone and PC

https://www.roblox.com/games/75486003041210

What feels off compared to real college football? What would make you play a second game?

(Roblox only shows brand-new games to age-verified 16+ accounts for now.)

Casual Friday Morning Thread: Brought to you by the letter P!

That's right, the letter P! As in Philadelphia and Pdisappointment (the P is silent). Also, Prince as in the song, "Let's Go Crazy" which is what Philly is about to do after last night. Also, what is up with the sidebar on r/cfb not showing the games for this week? That's how I used to get that info usually.

In short, supposed to go golf with work buddies later today, but at the same time I

  1. Haven’t slept worth a damn and am exhausted

  2. Have the opportunity for lunch with friends I don’t get to see very instead

Strongly considering flaking on golf for lunch instead as my head and heart just aren’t in it atm

Casual Monday Morning Thread Brought To You By Forgetting What Day It Is

Y'all ever wake up on Monday morning subconsciously thinking it's still the weekend, so you happily just silence your alarms?

That's how this Monday's going down here in DFW. Hope everyone's well!

Casual Fun exercise (assuming you weren't actually an NCAA athlete) how many years of college eligibility could you theoretically have left?

Normally, a 5-year clock starts when you first enroll in college, but as we know, there are some exceptions as found in court.

For example, I first enrolled at college 9 years ago, but due to being at a junior/community college for three years (sometimes they grant exceptions for those years), one COVID year, one family care leave year, one medical redshirt year, and a normal redshirt year, I could still theoretically be found eligible for this season and next season.

That would be a record 11 years of NCAA eligibility, but I feel like some of you must (theoretically) have me beat

After struggling to sleep til about 2:30am, the best remedy wound up being a simple change of scenery moving out to the couch voluntarily. Actually slept halfway decently for the next 3-4 hours. So today’s gonna suck, but it won’t quite suck as much, and that’s pretty neat 👍

That’s not a copout sponsorship. That’s what I’d like to be doing right now. Just a day to not have to do a single thing and instead just simply exist.

Casual Monday afternoon thread brought to you by Korean baseball.

ESPN to start showing Korean baseball tonight. I'll be using my DVR to watch the games the next day. I'm excited not only because (like Texas), sports are back. But Korean baseball is great and I'm excited for Americans to get exposed to it. I hope it gains traction and ESPN signs a multi-year contract to show the games.

I’m not a fan of either team and watched that game from my couch and I want my money back.

Also Aaron Rodger’s with a villain mustache is creepy as hell.

Casual Hiring Staff Writers!

Mods, feel free to remove this post if it goes against any rules. And if it does, I do apologize.

Our company, The League Winners, is looking for people interested in becoming college football writers. We are a new brand looking to bring fresh, creative ideas into the world of college football, priorizing the stories and lives of college football athletes.

We started during the summer, and have already been credentialed for 30+ CFB games, and 9 bowl games. Our growth has been exponential, and we are looking to add new faces to our staff.

The League Winners are looking for passionate, driven people who love college football. If you have a dream of being a college football reporter, we can help provide that outlet. We are looking for writers who are willing to travel and create content as credentialed CFB journalists.

A little background about me. My name is Thomas, I was a beat writer for the NY Jets for two years and have covered them exclusively for 10 years. I started this company as a fantasy site in 2021, but transitioned to pure football this past summer and have seen major dividends. The site was created to give non-experienced writers a chance, and for creativity to flourish where they can't in your standard media formats.

If this interests you, please send me a message. Thanks for your time.

Casual Wednesday night thread brought to you by Paradoxical Thoughts™️

I feel like I’m a bit backwards thinking when it comes to relationships/marriage (and not backwards in a problematic way; hear me out).

I feel like I’m more likely to one day seek marriage with someone to whom the whole proposal and marriage aspect really isn’t all that important, rather than someone who sees that as a major box to check off the list. Like, in my mind, I’d rather marry the person who liked me enough to genuinely want to stick around even without marriage, than the one who sees me as great and whatnot, but is tapping their feet waiting for the proposal, and is gone if they don’t get it.

Like I can understand that it’s a big milestone for a lot of people, but I guess my mind just doesn’t quite tick that way. Maybe that’s valid? Maybe I’m a lunatic?

I guess I’m asking here because idk what other more suitable place there is for a general question of that nature, I’m genuinely curious, perhaps I’m starting to question my beliefs a bit, and this sub simply needed another post.

Idk, but either way, thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

For the longest time the one partner being the head-in-the-clouds one vs the other being the grounded-one was always billed as a good thing: It’s a good balance.

But what happens when the dreamer gets sick of feeling held down and the pragmatist gets sick of always being the one raining on the parade?
