Graduation Graduation

I’m a first gen graduate and I’m not sure how the whole graduation things going to work so we just find a seat and they’ll take names or is there already an order decided? And would you recommend staying the whole ceremony? I know many were saying you could leave once your names called but would it be too awkward? thanks in advance!

You get in line outside of the Golden 1 center and eventually you make it to tables where you get your name card. It’s separated by last name. You’ll start the long walk inside the arena and once you make it to the seats, it’s separated by majors. They have signs with the major names and there’s also workers that can help locate yours if you need it. Once you get to your section you can sit wherever. When it’s your turn to go on stage you give them your name card right before walking across. Technically you can leave after you cross the stage but it’s nice to stay for the whole thing. It’s a special moment so why not take it all in.

thank you for the in-site I really appreciate!! And I do hopefully plan on staying the whole time, it was a just in case as my brothers on the spectrum and doesn’t do well in places like these. it’ll probably be an in the moment thing.

How long is graduation… some of them drag on lol? I will graduate next semester, community college grad at Folsom lake went pretty smooth. But no where as near as many people that will graduate here.

Why would you leave after your name is called? Imagine if every single person did that. What a big disturbance that would be and that person’s family also getting up to find their student.

It was just a question loads of people I’ve asked from previous years have said they and many have done it.

It is incredibly rude to leave before the ceremony is done. Could you imaging being one of the first students to cross with everyone there cheering vs one of the last ones but everyone has left and there is nobody to cheer you on?
