Graduation A few tips for anyone going to the graduation
Hi guys,
I’d thought I write this just as a heads up for those going to the graduation and don’t know what to expect at the Golden 1 Center. If you want the process to go smoothly:
- Obviously arrive early. Lines get LONG.
- It’s best not to bring a lot of stuff but, if you are going to bring a bag, make sure that it’s on the smaller side. No backpacks or really big bags. They do tend to be a little more lenient during graduations but not much. The only exception is if it’s a medical bag or diaper bag.
- No balloons/noisemakers inside. Security will make you throw them away.
- Absolutely NO vapes, lighters, cigarettes, weed, weed pens, knives, or anything of that nature will be allowed. They will get confiscated or you’ll have to walk them back to the car.
- Large signs/posters may be not allowed especially if they block views of others (big heads). No flags.
- Don’t bring anything that has like a pokey stick on the end of it like those money bouquets as they tend not to let those in it.
- Point and shoot cameras are allowed but not ones that have a detachable lens. No laptops.
- No selfie sticks or go-pros.
- No outside food or beverages.
They sell stuff inside.
10. Finally, there is no re-entry. So once you’re in, you’re in.
That’s all I could think of at the moment. Just trying to save people some stress lol. Congrats to all the grads and families!

Graduation People who graduated from Sac Sate within the last 2 years
For context- I graduated from Sac State in May 2024 - Bachelors in MIS - couldn’t find any job in my field now working at a warehouse for minimum wage ( doesn’t even require high school diploma to be honest)
I also got the following: ( not including jobs that I had since I was 16 ( food service , retail , delivery )
Google data analytics certification
Google IT fundamentals Certification s
Data Analytics Fellowship
2 data analytics projects
2 personal projects
Applied to almost every kind of job I came across ( State, startups , larger companies, etc..) they mostly ghosted / rejected me at best
And feel like I should’ve picked a different major or should not have gone to college in the first place, at least I could’ve gotten 4 years of experience somewhere else
Just curious for those of you who graduated from Sac State within the last 2 years , my questions are :
Were you able to find a job related to your major?
If not , what are you doing for work? Does it even require a college degree?
Anyone else going through the same situation?
TIA

Graduation Fall 2026 Commencement
Hi everyone,
I graduate in December of 2026 and am trying to gather as much information as I can.
I know Spring commencements get a Latino Celebrate that is separate from the main one, does this also apply to the Fall graduates as well? If so, where can I apply? If it isn’t open yet, when does it open? How many tickets do we typically get for this celebration.
As for the main commencement, how many tickets do we get? Is there an idea of what day it would be on or weekend? For reference, I am a Psychology Major.
Any and all information is helpful! Thank you 😊

Graduation How do you buy your honor cords in advance?
I’m so confused, I graduate in December so I obviously have to buy my cap, gown, stoles, and cords soon for grad pictures. But this is way before my final grades come out. Right now I’m summa cum laude with the gold cord, but what if this changes after my final grades are posted. I’ll just have a cord for graduation that I didn’t earn??

Graduation Graduating (need help)
Hey everyone,
I’m graduating this semester and I have like 0 info on what/when I need to do things. I don’t know where or when I’m supposed to buy all my sashes and cords. If there’s any confirmation I have to do, meetings, verification etc. I am completely clueless and tried to meet with a counselor, they told me to meet with my grad counselor, they told me they aren’t doing appt at this time. So as far as I see essentially no staff at the school is actively helping students figure this out?

Graduation Dont purchase commencement tickets!
I feel like this should go without saying, but I'm seeing posts left and right about it so I just want to put it out there:
DO NOT PURCHASE COMMENCEMENT TICKETS.
I know people are desperate, but the scammers be scamming and there is absolutely ZERO ways to confirm with 100% certainty that the ticket you purchase is legit and not a duplicate that they are selling to folks left and right. if your guest using that ticket isn't the lucky first person at the door to use it, they won't be let in.
I know it sucks, but try to only get tickets from someone you know and trust. ask your dean and professors for extras (they often have a bucket to share)
don't waste your money, friends.
and I know many don't care, but it is technically against the student code of conduct to sell or purchase them. if you are caught doing it, they can take your tickets away! I've seen it happen a couple times!

Graduation Transfer credit issue affecting my graduation
I’m supposed to graduate this fall, but I’m dealing with a transfer credit issue. I completed a 3-unit course at another California State University as open university in this summer, but Sacramento State only awarded me 2.01 units, even though the course is officially listed as 3 units. Before enrolling, I checked with my academic counselor and verified the course equivalency through the Transfer Evaluation System (TES).
I’ve already contacted the Registrar’s Office and submitted documentation, but I’m really stressed while waiting for a response.

This thread is for anything related to commencement tickets, any post regarding them will be deleted as they clog the feed and it was voted on last year to confine them to a megathread like this.

Graduation Confused on how graduation looks like
I have some idea and people have told me what to expect. This is kinda silly but when we walk the stage, should we close the gown or leave it open? I ask because I want to bring a tiny bag to keep my phone and card together but idk where to leave it when I walk beside bringing it with me and hiding it underneath my gown as I walk. Any advice?

Graduation Graduation
I’m a first gen graduate and I’m not sure how the whole graduation things going to work so we just find a seat and they’ll take names or is there already an order decided? And would you recommend staying the whole ceremony? I know many were saying you could leave once your names called but would it be too awkward? thanks in advance!
