Discussion Is this setup practical?

This is my current on-camera mic videography setup. Thoughts?

Can the gimbal even move the camera with all the wires?

that's less a setup and more a gear salad

the gimbal motors are gonna be screaming for mercy trying to swing all that, the audio interface alone looks like it weighs more than the camera

It weighs nothing, actually. The focusrite ones however...

Surprisingly, yes it can. The wires are loose enough to so, and theres enough clearance for it to move.

If it works for you, then it works for you. I'd say it's pretty far from ideal though and there are much cleaner ways of doing audio capture.

UPDATE: I experimented a bit more and attached my phone ontop of the briefcase handle itself as well as the interface by the side. Its more ergonomic and doesnt require me to carry a bag.

Can’t the mic just use the cameras preamps and get recorded?
