Off on holiday for a week. Walkman is primed and ready with my three favourite albums of this year on cassette, and I’ve got my GBA SP with Pokemon Emerald ready to go. Stoked.

I only properly became a Kylie fan about a month ago and I've become obsessed. I only listened to her first 2 albums but getting into Light Years and Rhythm of Love I knew it was the beginning of a new obsession.

All for the nostalgia. I have rust in peace on CD in my folks’ attic along with Peace Sells… on cassette. Always been aware of, and known, but never really listened to Tubular Bells. My Dad used to play the Genesis album in his car when we were kids.

Hi looking for some advice
I’ve never owned a physical media player but I’m really looking to get into it due to me being fed up with the amount of Spotify ads these days.
Cassettes seem like the best option for portability and cool factor and this modern one by Maxell seemed like a popular option as it’s Japan specific and I won’t have to do any work on it to get it running.
However, I’ve heard some bad things about it, not an audiophile here so the actual audio quality isn’t a massive concern just the fact that I want to be able to clip it to my jeans or belt and listen like that but I’ve seen that it doesn’t really function that great when moved about.
I’m also thinking of picking up a CD player with skip resistance when I’m there but CDs are way bulkier than a cassette player would be and I really am looking for portability
MP3s are an option but I’d really like to build up a collection of something physical.
Any ideas or suggestions for alternatives that could work would be greatly appreciated!
Edit: I’m now considering buying a vintage option but can’t seem to find decent places to buy for good prices. Any tips on how to find some in working condition, or how to use the online auction sites

This one was thankfully a screw together tape and I opened it up. I used Jig-A-Loo graphite spray lubricant and sprayed it onto a q-tip and rubbed it along the sides of all the wheels. First time I played it was better but not 100% fixed so I gave up on it and left it for a while. When I played it again a few days later it was even more better again and then the last time I played it was almost as good as new.

Playing the Prodigy in original cassette should be a Time Paradox or a Parallel Universe, cause this music is such futuristic as a 2050 release.

Bought 100 random tapes for $40. No cases, no j-cards. Was really curious what I’d receive.
+-30 were premium tapes, most blank. +- a dozen were basically Muzak. Another dozen were German language tapes of various sorts. Maybe twenty are non-premium (k-mart, tdk, ampex), and a half dozen+ are cheap cassettes with Juicer instructions, business planning, etc.
I’m very curious to hear what’s recorded on some of these.

My car has a cd player in it which I use very often and now I would also like to start getting cassettes. How can I connect a cassette player to my car? Is it even possible? If so what would be the best option for which player to buy?
Thanks!

I've been using this boombox (GE 3-5252B) for a few months, I haven't done anything to it yet other than cleaning the transport and heads with alcohol. It's had minor electrical problems (oxidized potentiometers, left channel went out suddenly, etc) but it surprised me when it suddenly ate a tape.
I was going to open it up to address the electrical gremlins but I suppose while I'm in there I'll replace the pinch roller and probably the belt too.
I managed to remove the tape from the machine without damaging it further (as far as I know), but I couldn't find advice online about what I should do to repair the tape. I assume I should get the wrinkles out somehow, but all I could find was preventative advice, which doesn't help me fix my tape.
So does anyone know if this tape can be rescued? Or is it just ruined...

Found some very cool shit in a pile of moldy 8-tracks and cassettes of Sunday morning church recordings.
Dementia - Through the minds eye
Dementia was a thrash metal band in Wichita Kansas in the late '80s before they moved to San Francisco and finally broke up in '90. They had two demos, this being the first.
Garage rock before the Internet. Hell yes!
Sounds fucking awesome and my packrat bull shit has been reinforced for the next decade or so.

Hey there!
I bought the device and the cassettes over amazon and recorded some of my favourite songs for a friend of mine. I recorded using a jack-to-jack cable and connected it from it's microphone jack to my laptop. It recorded the songs but there is also this high-pitched noice. Is it normal? Can I prevent this somehow?
Thank you in advance for all the advice^^

Hey there,
I placed an order from We Are Rewind about two weeks ago and the order just shipped. I’m worried about how much I should expect when it comes to Shipping and Duty Fees when it comes to my house in Australia.
Does anyone know how much to expect them to cost?
Cheers,
Damon

I’m just getting back into tapes, mostly looking record and do some sampling. The tapes were 1 or 2 dollars each and zeppelin and fyc were still sealed. I’ve got new belts on the way for the deck and I’m looking to change them this weekend. Wish me luck pls

This is a nice looking cassette player. I got it off ebay for $26. Tho only the radio works. I just have a cassette in there for display. When i saw the pictures i wasn’t expecting it to be so chunky in person. But i do love its looks overall. It has such a unique retro look and i would love to get it fixed one day. I think it just needs new belts. But i am not a repair guy so ill just be using the radio feature for now..
