Just Chatting Do you sometimes find yourself talking in a different accent when you're with your loved ones?

I've noticed that the way I talk can change depending on who I'm around. Sometimes I pick up the way my friends pronounce certain words, and other times I catch myself using a completely different voice when talking to family. It's not even intentional, it just happens naturally, and I don't always notice it until later unless they point it out or i overheard myself in voice messages.

I'm curious if this happens to other people too. Do you have a different accent around your family, partner, or close friends than you do around strangers? Or is your way of speaking pretty much the same with everyone?

Oh my god me toooo

When I'm with friends and people I'm close to I speak faster and more relaxed with an american accent. But, when I'm talking to someone for the first time, I usually speak slower and have a thick british accent. Every new person I've talked to in the past week has pointed out my accent and asked of any prior connection to Britain.

I thought I was alone

I always have a southern accent. However it lessens a bit with my in laws & thickens after seeing my relatives from the deeper south.
