Hey everyone, I have a 12 week old kitten who was on a pretty poor food diet when I got him (lots of grains and fillers. I've signed up to a few higher quality food brands, katkin, untamed and marro. He's hit or miss with katkin and untamed and loves Marro but i hear mixed opinions on them. Marro is 80%+ percent meat with prebiotics in the form of some starches. Some say its good for Ragdolls with their temperamental tummies and others don't like them, anyone able to help ?
Breed specific food is marketing nonsense. Don’t fall for all these brands with heavy marketing designed to guilt trip owners. If your kitty likes Marro then I would personally carry on with that.
The best food is whichever ‘nutritionally complete’ food your cat will eat and you can you afford.
Kittens should ideally be free fed as they need a lot of calories.
We use Applaws wet food (not nutritionally complete but high meat content, minimal fillers and the cats LOVE it) with Royal Canin dry food (is nutritionally complete). Our cats love it, so that’s what they get.
I do free feed him his kibble so he can graze whenever, he likes a top up after a poop or play. I guess I'm not looking for breed specific I'm sorry if my post looked that way, I typed it up at 2am whilst playing fetch. I'm looking for what will make him grow into the healthiest cat that I can provide, but also looking out for that finicky Ragdoll tummy !

I’ve never had him on a breed specific diet so can’t comment on how he’s done on that. He doesn’t particularly have a sensitive tummy as he’s stolen lots of things he shouldn’t have had over the years (nothing toxic or anything like that just the odd packet of crisps he’d steal and open 🤦🏻♀️) but everything quickly got locked away with baby proofing 😅
Your boy is adorable, enjoy every second of him being this tiny as they’re all grown up too soon!

Im crying I mean this in the best way possible but his eyebrows make him look FURIOUS I LOVE HIM !!! They are brothers from ither mothers ❤️ Yeah archie has doubled in size since last week !!!
Aww little Archie, love his name! My boys called Clyde (his sister is Bonnie). I hope Archie as a similar personality as Clyde too as well as the looks as he’s honestly so loving and gentle, he’s like a little dog as he follows me around and comes when he’s called.
They grow up far too quickly, blink and you miss it! So make sure you take lots of photos and videos..which I’m sure your camera roll is already filled with them!
It's already filled and I make it everyone's problem ! He's very sweet and wants cuddles and kisses all day, bit he has his spicy moments. He's learned fetch in 2 days and follows me everywhere, loses his mind if we can't be there, even for toilet time, were doing indoor harness training starting tomorrow! Your boy is gorgeous, similar pattern to Archies mum !
Haha and so you should! Archie is too cute so everyone must see him..I was the same with all the kitten pics haha but I’m the same now 9 years on too 🫣
Oh he does sound very similar to my Clyde then personality wise too..you’ll love him for it. Clyde likes to sleep on my hip during the winter. He’s too clever though as he turns my bedside lamp on in the morning if he wants me awake and just stares at me knowing it wakes me up 😅
I’ve never done the harness training so that’s a really good idea to start him young! If you haven’t already (but I’m sure you have) start getting him used to being brushed, I did with Clyde and now he loves being brushed, as soon as he sees the brush he comes over yelling at me 🥰
I think Clyde is a mink seal point..I could be wrong though, he still has the beautiful blue eyes but they don’t show on photos all that well unless the light catches them..he’s gorgeous though, but I’m bias 😅
Archie tries to lay over my wrist if I'm on my phone so he gets more attention ! He's still restricted to the kitchen if we are asleep or not around as the living space is being shifted around, there's too much to climb on - just until hes older and no longer fits into certain spaces. Archie is mink seal too ! This is dad
Oh yes, Clyde used to do things like that, if he wanted a cuddle then that was that..although now when he does I still say the exact same thing to him “always time for a Clyde cuddle”.
I restricted mine too when they were little (I also got his sister Bonnie at the same time), but I had a huge dog crate as their “safe space” overnight as I had 2 dogs too at the time (I still do but now they’re different dogs as my first 2 passed away, Bonnie and Clyde grieved them just like we did as they adored each other).
Aww Archie is going to be such a handsome boy then! His dad looks so similar to my Clyde 😮
