Advice Painter Recs

Hey all! We want to get the interior of our house painted. First time renting a home instead of an apartment and we want to rid the home of millennial grey. The house is a little over 2000 square feet.

Does anyone have good guys they’ve worked with before? And before we talk about quotes, what would yall expect to pay?

Just used Cutting Edge Painting in April and they did a great job and worked with us on the price. Very happy with them.

If you don’t mind me asking how much you paid? I have never had professional painters before so I don’t know what’s “normal”

A lot goes into that estimate. Jeremy at cutting edge did our cabinets years ago and the work was excellent. IIRC it was around $1500 in 2020. Our exterior job was around $5000 in 2022. Just get three quotes and compare

We had a 10k budget for the whole project and he made it work. He did all our cabinets, ceilings, inside the closets etc. We were preparing the house to put on the market so wanted everything to look as good as possible and they really did a superb job, he even painted our baseboard covers and repaired a few things to make sure everything looked good. Communication was great. You could tell he really cared.

Remember you will also be paying for paint, and it is expensive. The paint quality makes a difference in the results, so don't select based upon lowest price.

An established painter usually has an account at paint stores like Sherwin-Williams and passes along the discount to you. You can go to a store to pick sample colors or take your paper swatches from Lowes, etc.

Some have services that come to your home to do sample selection.

We've used Just Details Painting and Stucco a couple of time for interior painting. They do fantastic work. Our first job was closer to what you're looking for and was around $2k for entire ground level repainting.

The second job was repainting a large open basement in matte black and blue (home theater) with lighter trim, there were a lot of very visible color cuts into the white of the rest of the house. They did an incredibly sharp job on all the cuts. They also had to repaint several sections just because of the drastic color change from white to dark blue/black, which when it dried and in the right light looked off. They happily came back out and did another coat on the wall.
