This is next to Kent station on Grattan hill on the north side. All cars parked on the footpath and I had to walk on the road.

Thank you so much for putting it on the bus stop bench. So many would've just pocketed it and headed on. It's not the first time my dumbass has lost something in the city and a stranger has shown such kindness.

Iāve been going to Platinum for the last 6 years or so, but the last time I was in there (getting my extensions fitted for my wedding!) I was treated like absolute shit? The whole vibe in the salon was off and it was just so awkward! In there hours and not even a cup of tea offered
š for the money you pay thereās no way in hell Iām going back! so Iām looking for somewhere new..
Iāve heard good things about 3Degrees, but their prices seem ridiculous!!
Iām looking to get a balayage and keratin bonds, around 125g of 20-inch double-drawn hair.
If anyone has any recommendations, and could give me a rough idea of prices for the balayage and extensions, Iād really appreciate it!

Corcaigh, a chara,
I flowed into you like a drop of water from the Lee,
Evaporated from the Barrow and blown southwest, originally.
I saw the twinkle in the eyes on your children and was enchanted by their sound.
You were writing your story -
You were not at the start or the end but somewhere in the middle.
You have seen the beautiful marsh and the first wall,
You have been burned and arisen from the ashes,
You have seen love agus mhothaigh tĆŗ Ć©,
You have seen our love - both struggle and blossom,
You have seen me change and I you.
We write our stories side by side but this drop has made it to the harbour and I can feel the warmth of the sun making me feel light,
I will think of you while I am in the clouds,
I will think of you wherever I flow.

Hi parents,
Can someone help me with what to do regarding Halloween?
We are an immigrant family with a 4 year old. Most of our friends are from our respective work places and our kid doesnāt have friends in the neighborhood yet.
Our kid learned about Halloween from school and since we have moved here, we have tried to slowly embrace the tradition. We are doing some Turnip decors and non scary fun decors so far.
Our kid has now repeatedly said he wants to get Halloween candy gifts. He wants to be a superhero and constantly asks when is Halloween.
I am kind of scared to take a brown kid, ring the doorbell of a random house and ask for candy.
I am terrified of something going wrong, racism or otherwise and our child remembering it. Where we are from, we never celebrated Halloween, and taking any gift from anyone, even relatives ,is considered rude. As kids, we were expected to say no, even if someone is gifting us something willingly.
Can someone put my mind at ease and help me with what to do?
I do not want my fear to cause him a missed childhood. I want him to not feel different from his friends. Ireland is probably the country that started Halloween? I think I read it somewhere. Donāt want him to miss out but I am clueless.

Apologies, this is just a bit of a stream of consciousness - if that's not your cup of tea, you're better off moving on. Tldr at the bottom.
---
Hey all, saw a pair out from Revolutionary Communists of Ireland on Paul St today. A random fella was having an argument with one of them and threatening to kick the shite out of him.
Looking back I find the whole thing very interesting from an ethical standpoint, and while I'd step in any day with someone actually attacking a stranger on a Saturday afternoon, there was something about this interaction that had me a bit more open minded about the aggressors point of view. āWhen the aggressive fella walked on it worked out that we were walking the same direction, and asking him where he was from turns out he's from eastern Europe.
The whole interaction got me thinking how much do Irish people in general really know about the history of Poland and Ukraine, and what happened there between the 1920s and 1989? I feel that because of the horrors of nazi Germany and Russias ultimate role as an 'ally' force ending the war, the absolute horror of communist rule over Poland and Ukraine has been glossed over in western view of history.
Anyway, to get to the point I've always drawn a parallel between the manufactured famines of Ukraine in the 1930s and the Irish famine in the 1840s, and as such feel us Irish should have a kindredness and empathy to the people there. The suffering and atrocities there were far more severe than our own and thanks be to god for our geographical location we have eventually been able to move on from that national trauma (and even still, obviously this is still a part of our identity)
I would encourage anyone to explore the history of Eastern Europe. I know looking into it for me was a huge eye opener and helped me understand the hardness behind many of my Polish friends and acquaintances (I don't have so many Ukrainian acquaintances)
Tldr: I'd imagine advocating for revolutionary communists of Ireland would make many people from east of Europe feel the same way as if Irish people saw someone out with signs for a return to British colonial rule over the Republic - though it's worth mentioning their suffering has had a 100 years less to heal!
If you've an interest in learning more, "Bloodlands" is a very good and well regarded book, though of course there are criticisms also from some historians.

Second night in a row now. Genuinely what is so fun about it? Like i get halloween/new years but what is so appealing to a few young lads to set off a few fireworks.

Whatās the craic with people unable to take the togher exit coming from grange/airport & then deciding to do a sharp left turn at the next junction when the lights arenāt green nearly knocking pedestrians down? Legit had to stop walking to work this way because the sheer amount of times Iāve nearly been knocked down on this tiny crossing is unreal

Anyone else on the 3:25 train from Cork to Dublin today?
The train pulled in late, and naturally everyone started rushing on to get their seats. Except there was one small problem⦠there were no letters on the carriages and no names on the seats. Absolutely nothing.
So you had a train full of people trying to figure out where they were supposed to sit, people looking at tickets, people sitting down only to be told they were in someone elseās seat, and everyone giving each other the look of someone whoād just been caught robbing their pension.
Then, just to make things even better, the train pulls out of the station and suddenly all the carriage letters and seat reservations magically reappear. š
Absolute scenes. People were already settled in, bags were up, coats were off, and now half the train seemed to be playing musical chairs at 100km/h.
Irish Rail really said, āSure, letās let them sort it out themselves.ā
Nothing brings strangers together quite like a delayed train, missing seat reservations and the fear of having to ask someone to move.
Anyone else witness the absolute chaos? š

Went in to the pop up briefly to have a look and came across a necklace with a graduation cap and a date engraved on it. Makes me wonder if they're selling off returned products and not advertising it as such. Not anything crazy or anything but just a curious thing I noticed. Anyone else know more than me?

I am absolutely livid. Was out for a stroll down my own street today with my toddler, and the small man made a dart straight for a load of dumped gear on the path -used syringes, caps, saline, wipes, the whole effin lot.
Thereās junkies around the corner from me literally shooting up into their ankles on a regular basis, and nobody wants to know. Iāve rang the council, rang the Gards, and youād get more reaction out of a stone wall. Itās a joke. Does my baby actually have to wind up in CUH getting jabbed with needles or spraying infected blood around like what happened to that poor child at the Lough recently, just for someone to care and do something about it?Ā
Itās a disgrace like. You canāt even step out your own front door without having to scan the ground like a minefield so your child doesn't pick up biohazards.
Mind your kids and mind your dogs lads, because the council and the Garda couldn't care less until it's on the news again.

Just back from the Rua RĆ concert, it was absolutely fab! However, oh my god, the lack of concert etiquette of some people was shocking. There was about six young people in front of me, chatting, snickering and shoving each other throughout the whole show. At one stage one had a very loud, off beat metronome going from his phone, and another, I kid you not, took out maracas. They were very disruptive, and I ended up moving because they ruined my experience. Other than that, 10/10 show!

Howdy, lads
Looking for recommendations for the best fish and chips spots I can drive to within about an hour of Cork city.
We've already been to Kinsale and Rosscarbery so looking for somewhere different this time. Happy to go coastal if there's a nice walk / harbour nearby.
Any hidden gems worth the drive?
Cheers.
Enjoy the sunshine š
