Makeup Tips for becoming shiny?

Post image

Looking to do a john politics cosplay. Ill only post the real photo since there’s a rule against AI but you know what Im talking about.
How can I become as shiny as possible without, like, poisoning my skin?
Never really done makeup before so anything helps. Thanks

This became a bit of a makeup trend a while back. Look up Pat McGrath's glass skin runway for inspiration and research. There was a specific product they used but I don't remember it.

EDIT: The original runway formula is a secret? But they released their own products of it

Skin Fetish: Glass 001 Artistry Mask

Not as expensive as you would think, but maybe it creeps up if you need multiple bottles for 3+ layers to the get the plastic look

Could probably also use another cheap branded peel off mask.

You can also just do what body builders do and just absolutely and constantly slather yourself in baby oil. How else are people to catch every nuance of your rippling abs otherwise?

I remember the MUA community going wild trying to recreate this! People were pulling behind the scenes shots looking for ingredients, going full CSI.

Lots of moisturizer, and you could use highlighter to emphasize certain shine points. Maybe white eyeliner if you want to look more cartoon-y.

Try Kryolan Transparent Jelly

I have seen people use mineral oil too.

to be fair... OP never said how long they need it to last for. there is a big difference if you are just taking some photos during a 15 min shoot or walking a con for 4 hours.

Maybe the glass skin korean skincare might work xd

Like another said - the glass Korean skincare possibly.

You could also ask in one of the makeup subs, there are specific makeup and face care routines to make your face look “dewy” (I think is the term?) that would work

a fine grade body shimmer mist, or adding eyeshadow with a color match to your foundation/highlighter color (that man, like nearly all politicians, is “wearing” heavy makeup, even if the points of shine don’t entirely align with where his facial features should be prominent)

Try slugging - put on a heavy night cream and then put vaseline or aquaphore on top of that.

What about baby oil or almond oil?

A good night time moisturizer (I use S Nature Aqua Squalene) and dewy setting spray will definitely get you there. Plus you’ll have super moisturized and soft skin the next day.

If you don’t want to do the glass skin (which I feel like will be more reflective than you want) there’s are a gazillion youtube makeup tutorials with this look. Maybe try “shiny highlighter look”? Many that do extreme makeup, like drag queens, will use a style like this. They may go for sharper lines than you want, but you can blend more.

I’m also very not a makeup person so unfortunately that’s about all I can say. But the makeup gurus will know

Vasaline and lots of it, make up highlighter, or just use some white face paint and blend it out.

Why does everyone want to look like they've just been at a Diddy party??
Can't wait for this obsession to die with the tarantula lashes. To me it just looks greasy af. 🤷‍♀️

Tattoo enhancer like hustle butter

Olive oil

KY lube. Much thinner than vaseline/petroleum jelly so you won't have to rub your makeup too much.

I’m assuming hairspray would do the part but make sure that’s safe first

Coconut oil. 🤣

Coconut oil is very comedogenic, I wouldn’t recommend it
