Question How old is Pam supposed to be?
Linda Cardellini is in her 50’s and while still attractive she looks it. I am only on the first episode.

That being said, I know there's gonna be scenes without her, so I was wondering, is this a show you can 'glance' at while listening and multitasking on other windows, or do you recommend a fully immersive experience to appreciate everything?
I plan to binge it if all the episodes are already available too.
I'll do whatever you suggest in terms of watching the show.

Just finished the series. My thoughts (Warning, Spoilers):
Overall: I actually thought it was very well done. I was pleased with it.
What I didn't like:
(1) (Extremely disappointing) I don't know why producers re-imagining classics movies through a remake, sequel or series need to veer so far from the original by introducing idiotic plot twists that become such eye rolls. Halloween 2018 did it with Sartain trying to kill the copy, stand up wearing his mask and then take him to Laurie's house to watch him kill (or whatever the awful twist was supposed to be - I'm so confused by it I don't even know or care). Halloween Ends did it with whatever that monstrosity of a plot was. All the bad Friday sequels with traveling to space, Manhattan, clairvoyants, etc.
This one didn't technically 'change' the cannon. But Pamela and Jason's backstory didn't really have to be explained at all, at least not that deeply. Episodes 1-6 and most of Part 8 were very good. Episode 7 was a total mess. A mix of Stepford Wives and an awful 'mad scientist' / CHUD sorta thing. The whole episode could've been removed and it would've been fine. They just over-explained this and sunk it into the plot line far too much where it was more of a distraction than it added to anything. Jason's deformity, Pamela's backstory could have been completely left alone. It would have removed the 'conspiratorial' / JFK vibe and stayed true to the pure, undiluted plot.
(2) (Mildly Disappointing) The kills Pamela did were repetitive for one, but not very well executed from a photography / special effects perspective. Very CGI/AI. This would also include Jason's kill of the first goon in the woods in the final episode. Almost cartoonish. Could have made the gore in the kills more raw, visceral and authentic.
Jason as a child...? Meh. Not thrilled. Not grossly disappointed but wish they would've played that up just a bit differently.
What I liked:
I really liked how the photography, sets, were so true to the original. The shots of 'downtown' Blairstown was a very strong recreation from the original, Enos' truck, the woods, the scenes like the POV walking through the cabins with the kids sleeping then shooting to the counselors singing around the fire. I thought they did a stellar job with this. I also really liked the scenes set in the diner/drugstore. Kind of like the throwback scene after the opening titles in Halloween Kills, where they also did a very good job with location, sets, costumes and editing.
I also thought - with the exception of the 'Bellweather' B.S. - the story, dialogue and characters were quite good.
They left enough easter eggs and throwbacks to make it interesting.
Finally, the acting and characters. Pamela's character and the portrayal by Linda C was excellent. I also thought the character of Grace was very real and very well played by that young actress. As odd as this sounds, although she had such a small part, there was something about the waitress at the diner that just felt right.
Final Verdict: An 8/10
If the hardcore Friday fans don't rip this thing to shreds, I'm up for a 2nd season.

In episode 1 the sheriff is driving a 1968 Plymouth and it’s the 189th founders day of the town settled in 1779. So 1968. Pam goes home and certain events occur. In episode 2 the results of those events are recovered but still seem quite fresh. But then after the seminar Wilhelm says it’s 1972. And the teens at the party are in a 1969 Tran Am, before the 69 model year started. Where did four years go?

I was worried, but this was really good. Had fx as good as any horror movie, and was an interesting insight to his mom and how he can just keep on going.
A really fun watch. Fantastic.

Callum had big shoes to fill, and he absolutely killed it. Gwendolyn originated an all-new character and played her to perfection. The casting was great all across the board, and I especially like to call out great young actors when they've earned their praise, and both of them definitely did.

I was worried but I'm 3 episodes in I'm really liking it. Good writing and the direction it's taking is very smart. Makes you feel bad for Pam and sympathize with her.

My Theory for Season 2 of
Crystal Lake
I think Season 2 will bridge the gap between the series and the original Friday the 13th movie, potentially with a few changes to established canon.
My theory is that Chief Brooks survives his injuries but eventually leaves Crystal Lake. Officer Dorf takes over as sheriff and becomes convinced that Crazy Ralph is responsible for the murders. Pamela may even manipulate the investigation to direct suspicion toward Ralph, allowing her to remain free.
Eventually, the camp closes down, and things go quiet for several years. Then Steve Christy decides to reopen Camp Crystal Lake, setting the stage for the events of the original 1980 movie.
Pamela returns and begins killing the counselors, but this time Jason witnesses his mother’s death. That could be the pivotal moment that transforms him into the Jason Voorhees we know from the later films.
I also wonder whether Jason’s transformation has a supernatural element. I don’t think he was inherently evil, and I don’t think Bellflower’s experiments alone turned him into a sadistic killer. Perhaps something about Crystal Lake itself changed him—or perhaps his mother’s death triggers something that was already happening inside him.
The beauty of this theory is that it connects Season 1 to the original movie, gives Dorf a meaningful role in the history of Crystal Lake, and leaves room for the writers to explore the mystery of what Jason has become.
What if Season 2 isn’t just about how Jason becomes a killer, but about what really happened to him at Crystal Lake—and why?
Obviously, this is just a theory, but I think it could be a fascinating direction for the series.

I HAVE NOT FINISHED THE SERIES I HAVE ONLY FINISHED EPISODE 5
and i am liking the show so far
*********\*
in the movie isnt it '57 when jason "drowned" and '58 when claudette and barry are killed?
officer brooks said it was the 70s, which makes sense because i was thinking would a small town have a black cop in the 50s?
so the timeline has changed?
and that mean this series is kind of an alt universe prequel?
especially after the ending of episode 5...
since the first episode i thought something felt off about the timeline but i haven't seen anyone mention it, ofc im trying to avoid spoilers so i haven't looked hard.
THOUGHTS?
