Asking Advice Dad, I think I did something dumb

Dad, I think my landlord might have lied about my apartment having a mold problem. He said the previous tenant caused a water leak under the kitchen sink, but the problem has since been remediated, even though there still appears to be black spots on the wall underneath the sink. Maybe he thinks it's not a problem if the moisture is gone. I took his word for it.

I finally got paranoid after moving in and bought a mold test, which takes 72 hours. I don't know what I'll do if it turns out to still be a problem. What should I do?

Need a pep talk Validation

My dad died back in 2021 (and my mom in 22 but we weren't close) I was so so so close with my dad but now without him it's just really hard to know if I am doing everything right.

I'm 22, I work full time, pay rent, so many bills including 2 car loans and in a long term relationship. I'm not a mom yet (at least to a human baby) but I can't help but feel I am falling behind in life. everyone else i know of married with kids and is buying their first house. should I be working harder? i already pretty much live paycheck to paycheck and have always struggled in life. Maybe marriage would make it worse? I don't know that's why i need a dad.

DIY/Auto/Repair Question Question about mounting my TV

Hey dads, I want to mount a TV on my wall, so I got a magnetic stud finder and just marked each metal object it found. They don’t seem to be aligned very well tho…will I have to just drill to figure out where the center of the wood is? Hopefully you can see my markings in the photo. The 4 top markings shift to the right.

Need a pep talk Can a dad tell me to have fun with my friend and be safe?

I'm a woman living in an Islamic household. I'm going to go see a movie with my friend at night and I won't be back until past midnight. That's all I'm doing: seeing a movie with a friend in a city 45 minutes away because it's an old classic film and there's one nearby theater showing it. We're dressing up because it's fun and it's Halloween but I have to sneak my outfit in her car so my parents don't kill me for showing my hair. I sincerely wish I was joking.

My mom's already suspicious of me for going out and wants me to tell my dad. I don't really interact with him. I rarely go out, not to mention at this time of night, because I've been scared of him for my entire life. I'm deciding to say yes more to hanging out with friends lately because I don't want to wait to escape to live my life. I've been having lots of fun with Halloween costumes because they make me feel creative. I don't have to pretend if I'm in active character mode either. I can frown or laugh all I want without people getting the wrong idea. I feel the most content when I'm pretending to be something else for a moment.

My family is controlling and likes to pretend it's about safety. Really it's about their fragile sense of honor and a deep insecurity at dealing with women with any sense of bodily or social autonomy. I just want a parent who responds to a single, low-stakes hangout their kid is having with a casual "okay, be safe, and have fun!", not an interrogation and a demand to know my whereabouts, a lecture on women's purity and bad optics in the community and what will people think when my brother gets to be anywhere at night without question. I almost shot myself two years ago and I still think about it everyday, but engaging in creative pursuits like costumes has helped curb some of those thoughts. Interactions like this though, and the fear leading up to it, render me helpless and paralyzed and unproductive all over again. I'll try a pep talk from online human dads instead of getting myself stuck in the same destructive thought patterns again.

All Family advice welcome On friendship

Lost quite a few friends I thought were family. Looking back it seems like the trash took itself out more often than not, because they were only fairweather friends and secretly envious. However, I'm a loving person and worked a lot on my own attachment patterns. I don't want to live an isolated life and wish to work with the lessons from my past and create better friendships in future. Quality over quantity as I'm my own best friend now and I don't need many people, just a handful of genuine ones who are actually happy for me would be great. Please share any words of wisdom, encouragement or what you would tell your child.

Thank you Internet Dads 🙏🌸
