Discussion A tweet that has me thinking.

Post image

I don’t know if Riot can copy what valve has created with Deadlock. The atmosphere and setting so what I think makes deadlock so enjoyable. Yes the gameplay is amazing and the moba aspects are great but I just don’t think riot will even try to copy valve and make a deadlock clone. What is all y’all’s thoughts.

If the game is successful enough Riot will 100% create a Deadlock clone, just look at EVERY SINGLE game Riots owns, it's all copies from other successful games with their IP on it, they don't have a single original game.

They already decided it was successful and innovative enough back when the original beta was popping off, it was leaked or announced back when the original beta was popping off that they're working on their own version.

They even went as far as to tell all the streamers they got power over to NOT mention deadlock in any way on their streams cause they're so insecure and intimidated by the competition

I mean Valve has do their share of that too, Team Fortress was originally a mod for Quake, Counter Strike was a mod for Half Life, and Dota 2 like league was also based on the mod for Warcraft 3

It's not the same thing, Valve hired all of these mods creators instead of just copying their games, and Half Life is a Valve original game too.

Riot hired one of the Dota developers to make League the same way Valve hired one of them to make Dota 2. And Riot also hired ex CS:GO and TF2 devs to make Valorant.

Did Riot also paid Pendragon(the one dota dev that made league) to fuck dota over or he did it for free?

Also I couldn't find a source for the ex cs/tf2 devs, maybe they did hire them, which is a good thing but still, they don't have a single original game.

Riot hired the guy who did nothing but host the official forums, and even then, he was always an ass about it. They only hired Guinsoo after realizing Pendragon was a fraud, and even then, Valve got Eul, who had more to do with DotA's DNA than Pendragon or Guinsoo ever will.

I genuinely do not forget how competing forums like DotA-Portal were censored in his forums, and he ultimately took advantage of being the forum owner by stealing forum ideas and contributing them to LoL, hence Rammus and Teemo.

I hear what you’re saying but LoL is from the creators of DOTA this is coming from someone who played DOTA on Warcraft 3

isn't eul the one who made DOTA? i thought guinsoo didn't start working on the project until 2 years later in 2004, you might be thinking of DOTA allstars, a successor mod

No? They hired Pendragon first and he was basically the Steve Jobs to Icefrog's Steve Wozniak. He didn't code or balance, he only paid for the server costs of forum and the hosting site for the latest version of DotA.

Riot realized this eventually hence why they hired Guinsoo later, but even then, the OG dev (Eul) ended up working at Valve.

The whole, "From the makers of DOTA" was pure bullshit from Pendragon, which he did hoping LoL would kill DotA.

No, it is not. Eul AND Icefrog both work at Valve. Riot devs just deleted the DotA community forums and stole their hero concepts, no the same. They hired one of the modders who worked on DotA for a short time, not the creator OR the person who turned it from a fun hero-mashup mod into a competitive game.

Didnt the only fuckass devs leave to make league then actively sabotage dota forums

League players don't know that story unfortunately.
