Question What was it like playing deadlock for the first time

I had deadlock in my steam for a while now and messed around in the sandbox area, but never actually played my first match, as I'm kinda afraid if I messed up and people would talk down on me for being shit at the game, so I wanted to know everyone's experience on their first go at actually playing the game

I went 0-14 in my first game. Do not worry about it

I died like 15 times got told I was a litany of slurs and mental disabilities and then lost. 10/10 was a lot of fun

okay its not gonna help your anxiety but my first match i used voice comms to say that i was bad and to apologize in advance. First guy who piped up was a creep who started calling one of the other teammates a femboy or smth. I didn't touch deadlock for like a week after that and then my laptop died for a month when I tried to play it again lol

a year later and now i have over 250 hours in the game, so it all worked out ig. My advice is to play street brawl first just to get a hang of the abilities, look up some guides on how items and the macrogame work (I recommend Chalant's item guide and FUNKe's guide for employed people)

You gonna get the shit beaten out of you for a couple of games when match making try to place you. But this is the best time to play. There are alot of new player coming in, there are alot of new players running around.

What would be the best character to use as a first timer?

Easiest to get value is the rat. Just press 4 in big fights. And throw your 1 in the general direction of the enemy.

I had it happen to me a few times, until I actually started learning how to play and notice those people are just mad because they keep dying for no reason and then blame the team.

This is common in basically any competitive game tbh

I did nothing all game, played a bunch of bot games to learn how to farm better as soon as I returned to matchmaking I was farming way more than I needed to and was always most money in the lobby but I lacked a lot of the basics to win. Just learn at your own pace and don't be afraid to lose when you should and are new.

I’d recommend muting other players at the start of the game if you don’t want to hear them flaming you, or just partying up with friends. But I don’t think you need to be that afraid. The people playing with you are probably new players too. Of course, I can’t guarantee you won’t run into toxic people

I wouldn’t worry about it, I have 2600 hours and I’m still shit at the game. It doesn’t matter how good you are or aren’t, people are gonna tell you you’re bad even if you’re doing fine lol

I went like 0 - 12 on kelvin and was so embarrassed that I went and played some bot matches. I didn't even know what I was supposed to be doing.

AYO I lost like my first 10 games lmao

Then I played Vindicta and still lost BUT didn't die 10 times

And 1800 hours of Vin and now we're here

Context: I got basically no MOBA experience, lotsa experience with Hero Shooters.

I played 5 bot matches and about two hours of exploring NYC just to learn movement + general layout of the map cause I'm a scared chud afraid of feeding. To the games credit... bot matches with players was MAD fun and 100% engrossed me in the game!

Game 1 - AWESOME. I recognized everyone else was also new, it was cute seeing us all fumble around.

Game 2 - MMR worked its magic, sat me down. I felt very middle of the pack, if not behind. Not bad doh.

Game 3 - I got Abrams, and only recognized after being demolished how you really can't afford to get damaged in the laning phase. I was getting zoned out. I was feeding my brains out, and my farming was too slow. Sucked but great learning experience for what Deadlock is.

I am now in my first two weeks into Deadlock, roughly 20-30 matches? I don't regret my losses at all, and I wish I could've just did 2 bot matches + practiced dash jumping and just went in. I don't know any big movement tech, but just knowing dash jumping gets you so far. This game is MAD FUN.

My first game was right at release. I played Infernus and don’t think I hit a single afterburn.

At the end of the day its just a game. As soon as anyone says something that pisses you off just mute them. If you’re just starting off then they suck too and you should disregard what they’re saying.
