Do different parts of Delmarva have rivalries with each other? Or are yall unified?
A discussion in r/Virginia sparked the question of if there is competition/ rivalry between different areas in Delmarva.
Does it break by state lines?
Is there even any rivalry?
Or are yall just ready to secede from your states anyway and make your own state?
Is there rivalry between beaches? Do you see beaches in NC or NJ as competition?
Example of what I mean: Near DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland have some rivalry. Like, “Yeah, but then I’d have to go to [VA/MD]. Gross.” And always complaining about the other state’s drivers.

People who bought in Maryland wish they bought in Delaware when it’s time to pay property taxes.
According to those older than I, There are some intricate Medicare and general hospitalization regulations that make Maryland better. However, the local Delaware hospital it a lot more open to payment plans than the Maryland one.
People go to whichever beach they want in DE or MD. It’s not like the Jersey Shore with beach tags and “private” beaches.
Marketing wise, Delaware, Ocean City and parts of Virginia all compete for the DC/MD/VA beltway residents.

Virginia and Maryland have bit of a rivalry and have had one since the 1600s, when disputes over rights to the Chesapeake Bay started being settled by gunfire.

Hence Dueling 🤺 creek on the upper reaches of what was known as the Eastern Branch now called the Anacostia River.

There aren’t any people living in the Virginia part of Delmarva. It’s like they don’t exist. I live near Ocean City but in Delaware. If I see a car with Virginia plates, it’s more likely from suburban DC than the VA Eastern Shore. Delaware dominates Delmarva because it has more land area & people & not much territory north of the canal. The Eastern shore of Maryland is the red-necked red-headed stepchild that doesn’t even get invited to holidays anymore because they kept bringing weapons

Have you looked at a map, Delaware in its entirety in smaller in size than the eastern shore of Maryland.

The Eastern Shore of Maryland is larger and more densely populated than the entire state of Delaware.

I don't think that's true on population. There are no major cities on the eastern shore of MD and Wilmington and surrounding area is close to 80,000 alone. Ocean City population in the summer...yes but that's not actual residents which is less than 7000

mostly it’s the “come heres” vs the “from heres”
we moved to the eastern shore 6 years ago and even if i moved here 60 years ago, someone would still be telling me how i don’t understand — and how it’s not like it used to be.
and no, the people saying this aren’t of native american descent.
