💸 Vet Bills & Insurance Hematoma
Our dog developed hematoma in the ear, quickly took him to the vet and the vet drained the blood out, steroid jab and a couple of tablets to take, cost £180.00. Didn't realise it could come back so quickly, just 2 days. Apparently it keeps reoccurring so asked about the ear flap operation which would stop it. Cost would be a mouth watering £1300....
Anyone know where this can be done at a reasonable amount ( serious answers only please)

That £1300 is rough, vet prices feel like a lucky dip sometimes depending on where you are. Might be worth ringing around some rural practices a bit further out, they can sometimes charge half what the city clinics do. Some places also let you set up a payment plan if you ask upfront

Do you know what the underlying cause was for the haematoma?

Has your vet confirmed that the operation is a necessity? Most aural haematomas will heal on their own provided the underlying cause is addressed. It can take a few weeks and the ear may look slightly different afterwards, but this is cosmetic and doesn't harm the dog.
However, there are unfortunately circumstances where this isn't appropriate
