Hola,

We are traveling in Chile and are currently in Temuco, we are wondering what is the best part to go to and how. We intend to go by bus and are willing for it to take a few days to get there

Hi all, we are looking for 2 others to share the cost of a private tour of a day trip to the Southern tip of Bolivia from San Pedro de Atacama on one of the days between October 16-19 (this week). The trip would be essentially the first day of the popular 3/4 day Uyuni trip (Laguna Blanca, Laguna Verde, Salvador Dali Desert, Sol de Manana Geysers, Laguna Colorada), and then heading back to San Pedro that same evening. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Hi people!
We’re planning for a 14-day trip in Patagonia (Argentina and Chile) in a campervan. I tried to reach out for some, but they’re unresponsive, which gives me quite a bad image of them somehow… can anybody recommend me a company with good reputation please, thank you very much!🙏
Pick-up and Drop-off in Punta Arenas.

Hey! This is for next January (2027).
Anyone have any recommendations for bird guides around Santiago and on Rapa Nui? I've been trying for 2-3 weeks to find a) someone to take us on some day trips outside Santiago; and b) someone to take us on a pelagic trip from Rapa Nui and another day around the island. (If s/he is a guide for the national parks, too, that's even better.)
I have written to 2 different people I found on the web, Sebastian in Rapa Nui & Cristofer in Santiago. Cristofer no longer lives in Santiago and Sebastian hasn't written back (even though I wrote via a travel agency that recommended him).
Both times I mentioned if they aren't available could they recommend someone.
I got ONE quote, $3500/2 days/2 people. Parks, pelagic & birding. This seems a little extreme as it's the same amount we're spending on the rest of the trip!
I also keep finding tours from Santiago to Rapa Nui, 4-5 days birding & sightseeing. This won't work as we already have our flights, hotel & even a rental car, if necessary.
If you're a guide or you know of any, let me know, please.
I have contacted Birdwatchingchile.com, Albatross Tours, Alvaro's Adventures (they sent me to Sebastian), and EasterIsland.travel. I'd prefer to use a local company, so haven't contacted US-based SunRise Tours yet. Also have gone thru all the people/tours listed on birdingpal.org and fatbirder.com.
We are trying to get this set up sooner than later.
TIA!!

Hello,
I am planning to stay for at least 6 months on a farm for cultural exchange. I am an artist, I will be working with children there.
It is very spontaneous, I want to start in 2 weeks, there is no time for the big working/ exhchange visa. I am 26 and have a german passport.
My question is: Has anyone experience in prolonging their 90 day tourist visa once (without leaving the country for around 100$) and then leaving the country after this period (I would leave to argentinia) and then traveling into the country again as a tourist?
I just wanna check my options here. Of course I know it is forbidden to work as a tourist, but I try to frame it as cultural exchange which isnt too far off...

We are currently planning a trip to Chile in late November with our 1 year old and would love some input since I see the high occurrence of hantavirus in the country this past year. Working in health care and having seen it firsthand, I am honestly a bit anxious about it.
We are planning on visiting Santiago, Vina del Mar, Zapallar, and then down to down to Puerto Varas (which I know has higher incidence of the virus). We aren't super outdoorsy people & aren't planning on remote hikes but were planning on spending some time outdoors. We also were looking into Airbnb houses, some ~ 15 minutes outside of the cities in more remote areas/on the water, but they are newer looking and have great reviews.
Our big concern is that we have a 1 year old that is wanting to crawl everywhere and put EVERYTHING in his mouth.
We would LOVE to visit but are hesitant with the high rates this year, especially with our little one. How is the state of things currently? Should we plan to go elsewhere with this risk? Should we skip the lake district given the higher occurrence? If we do visit, should we just be safe and stay in hotels/apartments within the cities? Anything we should specifically avoid or do to reduce the risk?
Very much appreciate any response!!
