Heads up for leaf season: Ferndale's last curbside yard waste pickup is the week of December 14, ending Friday, Dec 18. It comes back in spring.

Also, bulk items (furniture, appliances) go out on your trash day, not before 4 pm the day before, with doors removed. Thanksgiving week, Thursday moves to Friday and Friday moves to Saturday.

I recently moved to Ferndale and live in a house that has two individual apartments as a duplex. I recently learned from the landlord that the heating for both our apartments is shared and the only unit for adjusting is downstairs in my neighbor's unit. Is this legal? I'm not sure how to navigate this but there's nothing in the lease that says this and i'd love to explore every other option available to me before i go down the legality path.

Does anybody know who I can talk to ahead of my landlord call to help ensure I'm as knowledgeable with options as i can be? I'm currently awaiting a call from the Ferndale Housing Commission but i'm not sure if they're the ones to know best with this scenario.
