Dear Diary ✍️🏻 What have you silently accepted in your relationship?

Post image

I've been with my guy for a long time, and I love him to death, but lately I've been thinking about all the little things I've just learned to live with. I think the biggest one for me is always feeling like I'm the one who has to put in the effort to keep the romance alive. I'm the one suggesting date nights, planning things for us to do, initiating the deeper conversations. And don't get me wrong, my partner is great in so many ways, but sometimes I just want to feel like he is excited to spend time with me without having to ask. I miss feeling pursued, I guess?... The worst part is that I feel guilty even complaining about it because I know there are ppl dealing with far worse. My partner isn't a bad person, and I'm not unhappy in my relationship. I just sometimes wish I could feel that same effort coming back my way. :(

The only thing I’ve accepted is that sometimes I’m the one in the wrong.

That one was difficult.

Same here. I’ve been the emotional intelligent one for most of my relationships. But with my current boyfriend its pretty equal. It’s a mirror for my own behavior and it’s difficult with accepting that yes, I can be the one in the wrong…

I have also struggled with this very same thing a lot. I get very frustrated when I’m proven to be wrong about a topic. I have to reign my anger in and remember that being wrong doesn’t make me stupid.

I used to be made to feel stupid in my adolescence and I am very very bad at losing. My partner has been through a lot with me when playing video games together lol

I have also had to accept that I don’t enjoy eating meals with others due to my severe misophonia.

omg i relate so much, I almost used to think that by admitting that I am wrong and he is right, I am somehow doing a disservice to feminism LOL. I've had to do a lot of reflection on how I perceive relationships now that I'm with an equal partner

And after you fume and sulk and come to that conclusion, you have to apologize.

Heck. Sometimes you have to apologize just to keep the peace because it’s such a small dumb thing.
